Pelosi To Clinton Backers: Stop Worrying About The VP

I'm getting a little sick of people slamming Pelosi for her decision to take impeachment off the table. I didn't like that she did it, but I don't think she had much of a choice. Many of you still don't get it. The corporatist, television media is in the tank for the right wing. That is not going to change between now and November. If we tried to impeach, the storyline would have been, 'Irresponsible Democrats want to impeach the President during wartime.' The Democrats would have gotten blasted and we would have a repeat of the post Vietnam days where nobody trusted the Democrats with national security. It would have become another 20 years of Republican oligarchy. Is that what you guys want? Can you imagine what our country would look likle after that???

If nothing else, stop pretending that all Americans are as well informed as you are. Most people don't have the mental faculties or the intellectual curiousity or failing that, the time to have 5 or 6 online sites thay know that will point them to the real news. Every American politician has to protect themselves from the low information voters.

I have to laugh at the bitter Clintonistas proclaiming that Olbermann has jumped the shark. If not for them and their petulance, the Democratic nominee would have both his left and right flank defended. Low information voters, aka the American electorate, wouldn't know FISA from FIFA and a candidate running on national unity can't come out guns blazing against something dubbed 'a compromise bill'. It is also very tacky and partisan of Ms. Sklar that she include MI vote totals while whining about Ms. Clinton's loss. Perhaps it is a Canadian thing to count elections where the opponent is not on the ballot? I thought they were a democratic state??? Did Harper change things that much, that fast??? ;-)

Propogandistic quote:

"The fact was, no matter how you slice it, almost 18 million people did, actually, affirmatively cast a vote for her (17,461,810 or 17,790,119, depending). "

Rachel Sklar is too much of a HRC partisan to step back for a moment and realize that not 'shaking hands' at the end of a match is the most abject, unsportsmanlike gesture possible. To be a proper sport, you acknowledge the hard fought contest and congratulate your opponent.

Hillary's actions on Tuesday night were akin to a baseball team losing after 9 innings and while the victors went home, the losers stayed on the field playing with themselves, refusing to acknowledge the significance of their opponent. It is tacky and unworthy of respect. Get a clue, Rachel. posted 06/05/2008 at 10:30:49

Being Gracious in a Sexist World

Enough with the fatalism. Please.

There are two smart, charismatic, strong and tough women in the Democratic Party who can run in the next 8-16 years in Amy Klobuchar and Claire McCaskill. Hillary had two things against her this time around, her Iraq vote (and the country's desire for change away from the resultant disaster) and that she was running against the most charismatic candidate to run since JFK. Both Senators Klobuchar and McCaskill have the charisma and backbone to make a strong run and I look forward to volunteering for and donating to their candidacies. Governors Sebelius and Nepalitano are strong possibilities as well but I give the edge to Klobuchar and McCaskill because charisma is an immeasurable asset when running for president; where much of your campaign is run on television.

The one thing about all four of them that they share with Senator Obama, is that they have never blamed sexism for a loss just as Senator Obama has never blamed racism. Racism and sexism happen, but until I hit my 30s, I didn't understand that you have to succeed in spite of the prejudices you face or you'll become a chronic victim in life. Go ahead. As an Obama supporter, I don't care. It won't matter in CA anyway. I'm in the same boat in MA but hopefully, I'll get to vote for my candidate, not yours.
I've had it with children who cry out with the, '...if I don't get to be the pitcher, I'm going to take my ball and bat and go home...' attitude amongst supporters of either candidate.
I'm trying hard to tune out people like yourself which serve to harden my attitude towards Senator Clinton. I'm trying just as hard to keep fellow Obama supporters within my sphere of influence from expressing their own anger and frustration in a similarly vitriolic manner. I get it. Your candidate is losing and time is running out. It is frustrating. You want to act out; throw a tantrum. Millions and millions of Democrats will never forgive her if she is substatially behind on June 4th and she doesn't suspend her campaign and begin to work to unite the party.

War of the Word

I"ve become quite troubled that an angle of this Wright story may damage the social activist traditions of churches in America.

Has it not occurred to anyone else, the inherent danger of looking so closely and largely distorting the content of Rev. Wright"s sermons?

Do you guys realize how many churches and clergymen were parts of the abolitionist movement? The Civil Right"s movement? Women"s rights? Apartheid?

I actually have to applaud conservatives like Mike Huckabee, and David Kuo who are vocally defending the sanctity of the social activist traditions of churches in America. They see the inherent danger of this path. Even McCain hasn"t said anything about Wright.

Do you guys think that conservatives are perhaps a little more sensitive to matters regarding possible censorship of religious figures in America? I think I do have to give them that credit.

However much people like Bob Jones or Jerry Falwell drove me up the wall with many of their sermons; I never even came close to implying that they should be censored in any way shape or form.

If we create a de-facto test for clergy, our country will greatly suffer for it. posted 03/26/2008 at 13:35:14

How Will Hillary's Bosnia "Whopper" Play in the Media?

'Shillary' is a reference to the well documented fact that Senator Clinton has received more in donations from defense, big pharma and insurance companies than all of the other candidates combined in this primary race. Hence, the implication that she is a 'paid shill'. There is nothing sexist about it. Perhaps invest in a dictionary. Or seeing as you do have internet access, you could always visit www.dictionary.com. Check out all the wonderful things you can learn there! :-)

shill /ʃɪl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[shil] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation Slang.
"noun 1. a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.
2. a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.
"verb (used without object) 3. to work as a shill: He shills for a large casino.
"verb (used with object) 4. to advertise or promote (a product) as or in the manner of a huckster; hustle: He was hired to shill a new TV show.

#2 is of particular interest to your bogus charge of sexism.
