Bio
Once upon a time, I was a right-winger.

I was raised that way by my very conservative parents. I joined the Army and became an expert in the use of rifles, sidearms, knives and my fists (through inter-regimental boxing matches).

How ironic it is then that my journey to the left started when I was in the Infantry, where I read the writings of two-time Medal of Honor winner Major General Smedley Butler. He spoke with authority about how war was almost always waged for private profit. Coming from such an unimpeachable source, this got me thinking. I haven't stopped since.

I left the Army and entered the health care field, working with physically handicapped adults. That was an eye-opener about what life is like for people who had experienced major misfortune. Eventually I was injured on the job and couldn't do such physical work anymore. More eye-opening insights ensued.

I retrained and entered the IT field, where I worked for major banks and universities, and at times, for myself as a consultant. I found that no matter how skilled I got, unemployment was still a threat. Even at the top of my field, layoffs happened, sometimes precisely because I commanded a top salary that some exec wanted to trim.

My work and life experience has taught me that treating others well is the only way to go, because the wheel of fate always turns. Justice drives me now. Everyone has value, not just the untouchable elites.

I'm proud of who I am and don't want to hide it. That's why I posted my biography and photo.

Take care all.
