Liberal yet independent atheist vegetarian Jewish guy who teaches history. Although essentially leftist, I'm frequently appalled by the amount of anti-Israel venom and distortions in the comments posted here at HuffPo. Those who attempt to set the record straight or defend Israel and Jews sometimes find that their comments don't quite make it onto the page...
I speak French, Spanish and Hebrew, like to experiment with Mediterranean cuisine and practice Zen, though in my own tradition. My favorite books (at the moment) are "The Demon-Haunted World" by Carl Sagan, "Evolution" by Stephen Baxter, and "The Birth of Pleasure" by Carol Gilligan. La vie est belle.
