Elizabeth Edwards New York Times Op-Ed Slams Media's Campaign Coverage

If Senator Edwards has wanted to use his influence,
time, status and money to help the poor,
he should be commended in every way.
Most rich people, most people,
don't want to deal with the impoverished at all.
I give Senator Edwards tremendous credit for
taking on an issue, that so many others don't
even want to see. posted 04/27/2008 at 18:12:10

Elizabeth Edwards is a wonderfully intelligent, insightful, compassionate,
funny, wise, warm. lovable, gracious, sincere, giving, strong, kind person.
As is her exceptional husband.
It's tragically true, that the media gave little or no coverage to the other candidates,
so as the game is played now, they had to drop out.
It is sad that what passes itself off as broadcast media coverage,
is just a ratings-driven, numbers-driven, celebrity mimicking,
fickle, bi-polar sideshow.
How did we start off with such a fine field of Democratic contenders and end up
in gutter politics like this?
I am dispirited seeing the thousands of overpaid pundits, analysts, strategists,
whatever they call themselves just regurgitate, and regurgitate, blather.

When Hillary Clinton exaggerated her Bosnia sniper story to the point of lying,
it took weeks for someone to finally go check the videotape.
Remind me again.
What does the broadcast media get so overpaid for, anyway? posted 04/27/2008 at 16:52:17

Bill Clinton: Obama "Played The Race Card On Me"... Listen To Audio

Hillary Clinton plays the 'gender' card non-stop.
If someone says that they don't want her to be president,
then they are easily called 'sexist' or 'mysogynist'.

But, in fact, many of Hillary Clinton's encounters
with mysogynistic behavior, came first, from her own husband's treatment of her,
I am sorry to say.

Bill Clinton was a raging sexist for years.

Bill Clinton pursued extra-marital sex for
years, and if anyone, including his wife,
had a problem with him serially exploiting women,
they should just back off, until, finally he blamed
a "vast right-wing" conspiracy for his sexual cheating.
How many times does a guy get to use that excuse?

He didn't care about anyone else.
He wasn't concerned with the American people, I can tell you that.
It did not matter to Bill Clinton that the beleagured country was limping
along for over a year, on his way to being disbarred and impeached.
The Clintons stepped back and allowed this to happen.

We would look aghast at any country that had slogged
through such a dysfunctional soap opera,
and then spent millions of dollars campaigning,
to return to this sordid past.

Bill Clinton calls it "his lost year".
It was America's "lost year", too. posted 04/22/2008 at 15:56:07
Bill Clinton, definetly played the 'sex scandal card', first, multiple times,
over the decades, that's for sure.
And if anyone had a problem with Bill Clinton serially exploiting women,
and then using yet another needy female right in the Oval office, it really is the fault
of the "vast right-wing conspiracy" and people who must be uptight sexually.
Nevermind that someone who is just looking for common decency felt
defeated also.

It was an unsavory and demoralizing chapter in our history of America, that bogged
down our country, embarrassed us to the world, and disappointed every
parent and teacher who teaches their children about the moral
authority that is supposed to go with the highest office in the land.

Bill, you spent years being sexist,
dishonest and self-absorbed, lying to any and everybody, including your wife,
about how much you respected women, yet your actions and
deceptive behavior and false finger pointing, proved otherwise.
How concerned were you about the American people then?
How much of a patriot were you then?

Not to mention, that when we see that Hillary tries hard,
and is the mother of your child, why couldn't you have honored your
commitment to Hillary, instead of lying non-stop for decades, and up to and
including the years of 1998-1999, until
even you, called that time "your lost year", when you were disbarred
and impeached?

But, you know, you don't take shit from anybody. posted 04/22/2008 at 10:10:37

Richard Stolley, 79 Year-Old Founding Editor Of People, Returns To The Magazine

Sounds good.
Perhaps Mr. Stolley can bring his sense of gravitas back
to one of the most widely read magazines, and feature more
regular Americans facing, and rising above,
extraordinary challenges. posted 04/22/2008 at 11:30:29

The Obama Campaign: Consent of, or Contempt for, the People

In this article, ostensibly about Barack Obama, you use the fourth paragraph to settle
a score with a newspaperman named Bill Kristol when you write:
"Bill Kristol, the editor of the right wing war mongering Weekly Standard, said in a debate with me shortly after the launching of the Iraq War in 2003. We were in Midland, Texas, Laura Bush's hometown, and Kristol was asked if he had ever spent time in the Middle East region, to which he responded " 'I've always believed on the ground experience is highly overrated' . That callous disregard for professional expertise and experience is, of course, one of the reasons we so badly miscalculated the consequences of our actions in Iraq."

What does this anecdote about Mr. Kristol have to do with Senator Obama?
You and Valerie, still have so much resentment and disgust,
for so many, who have betrayed you and treated you poorly in the past.
Even getting a chance with all the hours that you have spent in front
of the microphones to ventilate at all those you blame
and have accused hasn't been enough.
But, let Senator Obama explain his foreign policies himself.

The Power and Responsibility of our Nation's Broadcasters

You may be right.
I may not be in the mood to laugh when reminded about President and
Hillary Clintons' Lewinsky saga, that lasted over a year and drained the nation.
There was a lot of lying involved there. And alot of lost time.
Just like alot of other scandals and sideshows surrounding
the Clintons.
And, now, Hillary and Bill Clintons' lies when giving false accounts of Bosnia.
It makes me question quite a lot.
What does the world community think of us, thinking about putting people
who have blatantly and repeatedly lied, back into office?
We despertely need global respect.
So I guess I am not in the mood to laugh at the moment.
Maybe I just see it as more sad than funny right now.
Maybe you're right.
But, go ahead, yuk it up without me.
That's okay.
Maybe next time.
Thanks for the heads up. posted 04/16/2008 at 11:26:30

How could Mr. Robbins, who had the common sense and wisdom,
to know that the Iraq War was the wrong way to go,
then go on to romanticize a scandal, that lasted over a year, and that
Bill Clinton himself, has referred to as "the lost year"?
The Clintons' self-absorption in their own dysfunctional soap opera, dragging the
country through the mud with them, as international crises were desperate for our
attention, and Americans at home needed help,
should hardly be called "great juicy fun".

There are romance novels or movies, if you need that kind of distraction.

While President Clinton and Hillary Clinton spent over a year,
blaming the evil "right-wing conspiracy"
and playing charades with the truth,
time was marching relentlessly on.
The scandal consumed everything in its wake, including the focus needed to
solve the long list of problems and crises that were unfolding.

I disagree with Mr. Robbins when he says that,
"It is our moral responsibility to report on the sex lives of the powerful."

No, I think it is the moral responsibility of the President, the leader of our country,
to not have a sex life, that needs to be reported on, for the four years
he/she is in office.

Why is that too much to ask?

And how, when a President can't make that commitment,
is it considered "fun"? posted 04/16/2008 at 09:35:52

From Tim Robbin's article:

"The absolute zenith of news, the perfect storm of reporting, the shining city on the hill in news coverage was Lewinsky v Clinton.
Now that was fun.
We couldn't get enough of that.
There were salacious details, semen stains, oral sex.
And the president lied.
He threatened every notion of marriage and the sanctity of family.
He put our country at risk.
We reported on every angle, every permutation of the story.
We held hearings, appointed an independent council, led off every newscast for months about the lie, played it until there was no hiding from it, and then held him accountable by impeaching him.
It is the only thing that kept our country alive at that point.
It righted our ship of state.
It saved our collective soul.
And it was great, juicy fun.

It is our moral responsibility to report on the sex lives of the powerful".

Who Can Beat McCain?

Senator Obama for President.
His global appeal will help to build more international understanding.
Al Gore for any position he wants.
Hillary would make an excellent Poverty Chairperson and it could use her "voice". posted 04/07/2008 at 07:03:48

Clinton Camp Denounces Obama Iowa Supporter for Lewinsky Comments

The blue dress cost the US dearly.
It is not a cheap shot to mention the $80,000,000 blue dress.
From January 1998 to February 1999 the United States spent those
thirteen month on impeachment proceeedings and perjury trials.

Bill Clinton blamed the problem on a "vast right-wing conspiracy"
and so did Hillary.
Those lies had Congress squander 13 months and $80,000,000,
leading to the president's impeachment and being disbarred.

And President Clinton, president during the first
WTC bombing in 1993, should have had national security the number one issue,
with the WTC on the top of the list.
Instead, having to deal with the Monica Lewinsky scandal meant the president,
the media, and the nation,
were so derailed by this sideshow, that everything got thrown off.
Bill Clinton couldn't pick up the intelligence about the
next WTC bombing, that was being planned in plain sight.
Bill Clinton couldn't find bin Laden, when journalists were tracking
bin Laden down for interviews.

Bill Clinton's 'blue dress' created a very sad chapter in American History.
The taxpayers spent $80,000,000 to determine what pathological liars
Bill and Hillary were.

As precious pre/911 time was marching relentlessly forward,
the blue dress got all the attention.

The blue dress robbed us of time we needed so badly.
And at a point in our history, we now know all too well, when we did not have a minute to lose. posted 03/25/2008 at 17:25:58
