Lived in the Deep South most of my life. I was a liberal when that was definitely uncool. I work for a hospital, am also a paralegal. Southerners are complex; many so-called "rednecks" would literally give the shirt off their backs to help someone. Unfortunately, their fears have been exploited by the power-elite. That is slowly changing, though.
