Bio
Born in Keswick, VA. At age 7 moved to Montreal. Lived in a French/Catholic district and was bussed to English/Protestant school. Saw the Canadiens. Saw Expo.
Moved to Rochester, NY at age 9 and at age 18 graduated from high school at Brighton High. Attended Reed College, Portland, OR for one year, and moved to Lake Tahoe, CA. Lived "on the road" for two years, then attended UC Santa Cruz, College 8 pursuing an Env. Studies/Bio degree. Focus was Evolutionary Theory and Natural History with Bob Trivers and Ken Norris.
Out of college, worked as an assistant to a nature photographer and his stock agency, then for several years on a limited-irrigation organic farm.
Became fascinated with the effect of Social Darwinism on the contemporary economic paradigm (as well as it's effect on the environment), and entered the business world in 1994. Went to work for a weighing systems supplier in Caracas, Venezuela. Witnessed and navigated the Venezuelan currency devaluation crisis of that period with 14 banks closing and millions of depositors camped out in the streets for months.
Returned to California in 1998, worked as a small business advocate/consultant for many years before finally becoming a fisheries restoration technician. Lifelong yoga practitioner and food nut.
