Almost 27-years-old, with no claim of glory, entitlement or grand achievements. No blue blood in my genealogy and no friends in high places. I struggled to understand Beowulf in High School. On graduation day, my Lit teacher gave me the book - a "gift"with a notation I never bothered to read.

In college, I theorized that salamanders and humans' ability to heal are the key to regeneration; that human evolution failed to adapt salamander's genes ability to regenerate; that modern technology will find those connecting genes; that these illusive genes can be reprocessed and implanted to humans. I further theorized that the under-30-generation will likely find the answers to re-grow human tissues, organs and limbs.

For that, my professor, gave me 2 Fs' - F for failure, F for fantacy, and somehow a very faint-trace-erased letter "u" next to it. Boldly noted " irreverent theories". I kept that paper as a memento.

That was 7 years ago. Today, these theories are facts. My professor sent me note: "vindication for the irreverent-odd one" - way of saying he was wrong. True to that monicker, my text retort "Fu2", to which he replied "ok, I deserve that". I am flattered after all this years, after thousands of papers to grade, he remembered me and my irreverent theories. That was good enough for me.

As to Beowulf, thanks in part for the 3-D film and Jolie, inspired me to look for that dust-covered-book in my dad's attic, and finally read my teachers' notation: "when you have understood the message of Beowulf, you would have understood life - make your mistakes - lots of them, then get up and re-invent yourself. Make it a good one".

I found my Lit teacher - in a nursing home. I promised her I will finished reading Beowulf. She has since passed away. I will miss her, and for that wisdom, I will be forever be greatful.

Yes, my professor officially registered my paper, and revised my GPA. I could care less, but NO - it wasn't me who proved my fantacy theories.

I have lots of mistakes to make, and lessons to learn. 'Still stubborn, irreverent, incorrigible and a skeptic - annoying traits to some, but have sustained my individuality and probably will always be.
