Hillary Is John Cleese

"People clamored for pups from that brave dog?" You must be KIDDING. If the story was in fact true, I'd call for the HEAD -- of the dog's OWNER.

Kellyanne Conway, MSNBC Guest, Calls Hillary Clinton "Chief White Woman" In America

This is vile on three levels.

Firstly, of course, is the racist term 'Chief White Woman." Ugh.
Secondly -- and I see this all the time -- I am tremendously irritated with this woman's penchant for INTERRUPTING with a relentless, long-winded stream of verbiage. I see this more times than I can stomach.

Thirdly, the claim that the Clinton camp is behind all the criticism is horse hockey. HARDLY. Sure, they've done their share, but the Republican right-wing and their media toadies have been running hard with this ball for WEEKS. Never mind that John McCain gets a free pass with his nutcase preacher Hagee.

Vile. posted 04/29/2008 at 20:33:17

Clinton Faces Steady Erosion Of Support

Your statement would be true except for the degree of difference between guns on the one hand and knives and arrows on the other.

Knives: Get up close and personal, risk your life/health to kill.
Arrows: A little more distance, but slower and less accurate.
Guns: Point and click!

I'm not in favor of banning guns, but I am in favor of strong laws to register them and control their use, just like cars. You'd need a license to own/operate a gun, you'd need a license on the gun itself and there'd be a legal requirement to get training in the use of that gun.

That would, by the way, go a step toward changing people too. Win-Win. posted 04/21/2008 at 20:04:08

Mr. Wolberg:

Nothing here is demeaning of anyone's service. That being said, I take strong exception to your assertion that "It is equally unsatisfactory to use images as political ploys for a perspective of someone who does not serve the nation..." Your implication is that those who do not support this war do not serve this nation. As someone who has served this nation and opposes this war, where do I fit in your tidy little world view?

Whether or not a war is justified we need to fully appreciate the sacrifices made by our service people and their families so we can properly honor them. Such photographs are a vital in either case, for the edification of our populace.

If the war is unjustified, as I believe to be the case, then usage of this powerfully emotional material is a critical part of the discussion we as a nation should be having; it should not be suppressed. We must *always* keenly feel the costs of war; it informs our judgment and stays a rash and unthinking hand.

Regarding your keen dismissal of 'navel gazing,' remember that they also serve who sit and think. More of that would have prevented many of our problems today. posted 04/15/2008 at 15:51:59

I can't disagree with your litany of the facts in the Clinton/Lewinsky story but I do disagree with your characterization of that time as 'dark, troubling days.' These days are far more dark and troubling. Our country is far more disgraced these days than it was back then.

As for Ms. Lewinsky, she may have been young and foolish at the time but she was also a consenting adult. Some of the 'blame' for ruining her life has to go to her.

As far as the Clintons having to 'neglect their duties while they cleaned up,' bear in mind the Starr Investigation (i.e. 'fishing expedition') was the cause of most of the mess as the Clintons were forced to defend themselves against a host of allegations, all but one of which turned out to be baseless. $40 million dollars to force a guy out in the open over a BJ. Yeah, that was money well spent.

I think it's foolish that Chelsea slaps down these questions. I think an honest, yet general answer about how her family got through such a rough patch and prevailed would only help Senator Clinton's reputation and image. In my humble opinion it takes *guts* to work through such an awful event and keep a family together. posted 03/31/2008 at 17:56:18
