You seem to be thinking of what liberalism meant in the 50s... The liberal ideas of today are a luxury of the conservative principles used to build the foundation of this nation. Okay, that writer's theory concerning the warming of mars could explain why the planet has warmed. The problem with that same article is the fact that it makes no mention of how the same forces effecting mars could be effecting earth as well.
The simple truth is that we have no idea if the current warming trend is a natural occurrence that has occurred thousands of time, as fossil records indicate, or if there is some truth to man made warming. I don't think its good idea to relinquish many of our rights based on a gut feeling.
