I consider myself a liberal-tarian, meaning that I see value in open-markets and fiscal responsibility, but(huge but), I see MORE value in taking care of my fellow human beings. Unlike some, I recognize that the free market is not effective in all instances, such as health care. I believe a single-payer system would provide more consistent and more fair and equitable health coverage, while relieving small businesses of the burden of providing expensive insurance.
As a graduate in International Relations, I believe that security in a complex world requires more than just cowboy-diplomacy, more than bombs and posturing; it requires reasoned, long-term strategy based upon dialogue, moral leadership, and respect for international law. And for that very reason, I'm a staunch supporter of Obama - have been since learning of him in 2004.
