61-year-old retired RN with B.Science in Zoology from Univ. of Calif. and Associate Degree in Nursing from Coastal Community College in Brunswick, Georgia. Born in Phoenix; moved to Georgia (St. Simons Island) at age 3, and raised there. Diverse work experience: stewardess, lounge singer, various temp jobs, secretary, newspaper typesetter, waitress, Registered Nurse in SICU, MICU and Psych/Substance, Rehab Specialist registered with state of Georgia as medical care consultant for Workers' Comp, etc. Sober in AA for 28 years. Independent TURNED Democrat in 1992. Raised in Republican home. Senior in high school when it was first integrated. Called nasty names then for befriending black glee club classmate. A pacifist who would be the first to clean your clock if you threatened me or mine or anyone unable to fight for themselves. An avid supporter of gun control who has pistols in both ends of the house for protection, and a shotgun for shooting water moccasins and rattlers and coral snakes in the back yard. An avidly pro-choice survivor of attempted rape who actually fought off the attacker long enough that he gave up and ran out of my apartment, probably figuring that my continued screams would eventually bring police. (Luckily, since no one called the police until I did, myself.) Backpacked around Europe and Greece alone at age 31, sleeping in youth hostels and riding Eurorail on a fulltime student's pass. Worked my way through school both times, with help from financial aid. Happily and lovingly married for 25 years to the love of my life. No children, but grown stepchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Etc., etc., etc. At my age, there's not enough room to get it all in here!
