For Assassination Joke, Huckabee Should Be Off TV

Mr. Feldman, I agree with most of your article, but I think what Gov. Huckabee did is many times worse than what Ann Coulter did, for one important reason - the ease of access to the named target.

Thankfully, it would be very difficult for anyone to slip rat poison into Justice Stevens' creme brulee or to take a shot at him. He spends most of his time in a courthouse or in an office to which access is strictly controlled. In contrast, Sen. Obama is out in public campaigning probably 12+ hours of every day at this point and will be until November. It would be WAY too easy for someone to take a shot at him.

Thus for Gov. Huckabee to say what he did in a forum to which are guaranteed to be racist gun nuts paying attention (whether in person or not), it was completely and totally irresponsible. It's most unfortunate that what Gov. Huckabee did is within our laws, because I think it should be a crime ... Cindy posted 05/16/2008 at 20:20:44

The Fear Factor

The Clintons' integrity or lack thereof nonwithstanding, John "Keating 5" McCain doesn't have much integrity if any. He SAYS he was duped by the Keating scandal and learned from it - and he's the ONLY one of the 5 who hasn't been drummed out of politics - BUT he has accepted money and favors from other "shady" concerns since then. He quietly voted for the second torture bill after making such a big fuss against the first bill (although not so much as to upset W). And he is consistently saying he'll bail out the banks - AGAIN! - while doing nothing for the homeowner who may lose his home (and probably life savings in the process).

Nope, the "maverick" was gelded by the conservatives and gave up any remaining integrity in the process. posted 03/29/2008 at 01:08:04

Dear Kate Hudson: Please Stop Wearing Wigs

Ms. Von Pfetten, did you ever stop to think that Ms. Hudson has very pretty hair BECAUSE she doesn't dye it or cut it for every film she makes? Maybe all she needs to do is wear better wigs ... posted 03/29/2008 at 01:26:03

Time Mag Cover: "How Al Gore Could Save The Democrats"

Cite the fabrications Al Gore made. The only one you'll be able to come up with is the old canard, "Al Gore said he invented the Internet." BUT HE NEVER SAID THIS. This was a classic case of right-wing talking-point distortion repeated over and over again until it become "the truth".

What Gore said was that he was instrumental in the creation of the Internet, WHICH HE WAS. He worked tirelessly to get the inventors of the Internet the government funding they needed to get their project off the ground while many others were skeptical about the practicality of such a network. He had the vision to see what the Internet could be and convinced others of its worth.

When you don't have to pay to use the Internet (except for access to it through an ISP), while we still have net neutrality (alas, probably not for much longer), THANK AL GORE. If private companies had funded the creation of the Internet, we'd all be paying through the nose just to post our comments! (Or maybe they would instead/also be censored ... think about THAT too ... ) posted 03/28/2008 at 01:29:06

Chelsea Clinton Has Quick Response For Lewinsky Question

I will repeat what I replied to AbbyXHoffman: Ken Starr didn't write a PUBLIC report about whether ErikW65 or richcpl (or I) masturbate in the shower or use drugs or anything about our parents. He DID write a PUBLIC report about Bill Clinton's behavior with Monica Lewinsky, in salacious detail. I agree that it SHOULDN'T have been our business, but Ken Starr and Bill Clinton himself (by lying under oath) MADE it our business. posted 03/26/2008 at 00:13:48

Chelsea needs to realize she's a 28-year-old woman working on her mother's campaign, not a White House teenager who needs to be protected from the press ... Cindy posted 03/26/2008 at 00:11:14

My Dual Citizenship: Why Did the Media Get It So Wrong?

Since "news" has been required by corporate mandate to become a profit center, sensationalism has ruled and truth in journalism has become mostly a thing of the past. There is a reason many people like me get our news these days from HuffPo and the Daily Show!

Ms. Navratilova, it is truly a shame that you have had to endure so much negativity simply for obtaining dual citizenship. I know several people who have dual citizenship - mostly US and Canada - for business and/or family reasons. I suspect the reason Secretary Albright didn't encounter similar issues is that the press figured most people probably don't remember why she was once a public figure. This is a sad statement on the declining intelligence of the American people thanks to the anti-intellectualism of the Bush regime. Secretary Albright is truly brilliant - unlike Secretaries Powell or Rice - and she certainly deserves great recognition.

I'll get off my soapbox here and wish many blessings to you and your mother ... Cindy posted 03/25/2008 at 17:15:38
