Senate Votes to Reverse FCC Decision Allowing Media Consolidation

So, the country had to be very nearly de-constructed before Congress woke up!! Sad, sad, sad.....

It's scary that our so-called "leaders" failed to grasp years ago the danger of media consolidation. When did they forget the importance and necessity of a free, unfettered 4th estate to nourish and sustain government by the people? If they so easily forgot this fundamental, I still fear for us. posted 05/16/2008 at 20:40:32

Angelina Jolie Confirms She's Having Twins (VIDEO)

The choice they make about the number of children they have is theirs, of course, and they sure can afford the kids (at least now they can) but one's connection and ties of responsibility to children go all the way to the grave with you....so it's a long and lifetime commitment they are assuming.

Also, more is not necessarily better -- one could feel just as fulfilled raising one, two or three healthy and happy kids. posted 05/15/2008 at 19:07:04

I love the Jolie-Pitts as well but have always wondered about this obsession having to do with children. It's a little TOO much - on some level. One can't help but wonder if it's their route to self-validation in some form or another, especially for her who felt cheated by John Voight's lack of parenting skills. If there's any truth to this, how self centered, as children are not little things that you experiment with or "prove" something with. Also, the travelling lifestyle they lead makes one wonder if there is any sensibility of children's need for stability and routine in early years. I wish them well as a family, but the parents should "chill" a little when it comes to the kids. I have always felt if one could raise just one heallthy and happy child, then job well done! posted 05/14/2008 at 19:12:48

Clinton's Big Win Doesn't Really Matter

Your hubris and arrogance is precisely what I'm referring to. Where do you get off questioning anybody's right to support another candidate? The west and mid-west are full of rural communities who supported BOTH Clinton & Obama. Clinton ran a strong, c campaign that highlighted her depth, skills and political acumen. Nobody but Obamabots have the gall to demand she go easy on Obama, not criticize him or comment on his deficiencies - Why the hell should she? She's not campaigning to get HIM elected. Many people believe in her and her goals as president - rather than Obama supporters who obsess over the "idea" of him rather than in his ideas. That won't wash in Nov to lower class, economically distressed nor does it impress that segment of America who will never vote for him I don't care what you say. Call them ignorant or uneducated or whatever you want -- they are a fact of American life, have been for centuries, and they VOTE their beliefs. Nobody was up in arms about their "unenlightened" state of mind before it became evident they would not sweep Obama into office. They're out there and they'll vote McCain in a heartbeat. Hence headlines like "Doesn't Matter" are a lie and a distortion, just like other media lies....it matters a hell of a lot and portends a defeat for Obama in Nov. Get used to it. posted 05/14/2008 at 09:23:09
When Obama goes down in flames against McCain, it will be dismissive headlines like this I'll think back on......I love nothing so much as to see the smug and arrogant take a HARD fall.

"The metrics are against her." "She's a loser." "He's the nominee." Yada yada yada....

NOTHING is engraved in stone in this campaign, least of all the outcome of FL and MI, as well as votes of the super d's who want NOTHING other than this: a win for Dems in Nov. Whatever will get them there and whoever will get them there, gets the nomination. Their support can move back and forth just like the wind -- and it will.

Besides that fact and the fact that mainstream America -- those hordes of the unwashed, uneducated, and unenlightened who have been discounted, cursed, dissed, insulted and told their vote don't count BUT who still go out and vote anyway as they did in WV -- well, if it makes some feel better to think Obama's got it "wrapped up" - go right ahead!! Hillary Clinton still has a good hand and a considerable base of support in mainstream America. Approximately half of the population solildly supports her, and a considerable number of millions will NEVER vote for Obama. That's the reality, and Obama will NEVER win in November without half the Democratic base, her backers, supporting him. Anybody who ignores these facts is a fool, and that includes most in the punditry class who have already "crowned" Obama the winner and demanding she withdraw. She will NEVER withdraw, not until the last "metric" forces her to do so. The "metrics" are still alive and kicking: 1) primary voters 2) super d's 3) FL & MI.

As for the pundits, let me remind everyone these are the same people who railroaded us into an elective war in Iraq through malfeasance, cowardice, from snivelling brown-nosing and approval grasping, from not demanding HARD answers to HARD questions and hard stone cold FACTS and PROOF. From ignoring all those raising alarm and warnings against the war. This is the same crowd who convinced Americans George Bush was so amiable he'd make a great president--forget matters of character and integrity and intellect. Ignore these fools and lackeys. They mean nobody but their pocketbooks any good.
