Bush: I Gave Up Golf For The Troops

Sounds a litle like a Catholic giving up something he hates for Lent. Or on second thought, is it possible he is more terrible at golf than at being president. I don't think that is possible. posted 05/14/2008 at 08:01:44

Consumer borrowing unexpectedly surges in March

Total ineptness and confusion is the trademark of this administration. I recall one of the problems this administration has laid the blame on was that Americans were not saving enough. Then the next mantra was that Americans were not spending enough. It seems that in this government "up is down and down is up". They know little of economics except that it is good to take from the poor and give to the rich.
Not once have I heard an administration official chastise oil companies for their exorbiant profits. To lay the blame for their excessive profits they constantly refer to the cost of a barrel of oil at the well. Now how that leads to excessive profits befuddles me. If their cost at the fount rises, one would expect the price at the pump to rise. Now let's talk about the rate of return, why would their profits increase exponentially? Why would their profits be flying through the roof other than pure greed, gouging, collaboration.
One hungers for the good old days when there was only three ways to increase profits: 1.Raise prices, 2. cut expenses, and 3. technological advantage.
It is ridiculous that a government willing to bail out Bear Stearns would now argue about assisting the very people that Bear Stearns, Countrywide and other unscrupulous companies lured into purchasing nefarious loans. posted 05/08/2008 at 07:48:21

A Historic Vote

Yes, but watch the delays and obfuscations of all those flag wearing "chicken hawks" in the House and Senate when they vote for the Iraqi supplemental bill. These Chickenhawk Bravehearts oppose this bill, and indeed, their couageous Vietnam ducker, Bush, threatens to veto it.
It seems they don't like the part of the bill that gives to, in their words, "Our brave troops", such rudimentary perks as better health care, a minute raise in pay, a GI Bill, and a VA that cares for the troops and not those chickenhawks who put those VA leaders in place. posted 05/08/2008 at 07:28:09

My Friend's Son Killed in Iraq: By Contractors and U.S. Agency?

Whatever happened to alumni of our three military academies who constantly maintain that truth is the only thing that is important. It seems we have had very litttle of that from the officers and gentlemen chosen to lead our military. And those that did adhere to the truth were summarily dismissed. Another example of the gross incompetence of this administration. One wonders if Congress, both Republicans and Democrats had fostered the health of this country, instead of partisan ptotectionism how many new prisons would have to be built to house those responsible. posted 05/05/2008 at 07:58:19

Bush: We've Been "Clear And Candid" On Economy

Yep as clear and candid as, "We have solid evidence and irrefutable proof of Iraq's wmds". As clear and candid as "this war will cost less than 70 billion". As clear and candid as "this war will be a cakewalk". As clear and candid as "the Iraqis will strew flowers in our path". As clear and candid as "Iraqi oil will pay for the war". As clear and candid as "Mission Accomplished, all major battles are over". As clear and candid as "the economy is doing great", even as we he flushes us down the toilet. I find it hard to find anything this administration has done successfully except getting us into an unnecessary war, bailing out a corporation that has left the public taxpayer holding the bag. Selling us the idea that because they wear a flag in their lapel and constantly talk about "our brave troops", (Though many of those lapel flag wearers never served in their generation's war) they are the true patriots. Yet when you check their voting records or measures they support or oppose most of them oppose better health care for those same soldiers or a better GI Bill. Why is he so worried about comparatvely small subsidies to millionaire farmers than he ever was about.1. Letting us know who attended the energy conference. 2. Letting us know what was discussed at that conference. 3. Completely endorsed giving tax breaks, subsidies, and other perks to billionaire oil companies. 4. Never uttering a word about Republican Senator Stevens refusing to allow oil execs to being sworn in before a Senate investigative committee, where they to a man, in unsworn testimony, said they were not at the Cheney energy meeting. 5. Gotcha! Olbermann Rips Apart Bush Economy Speech

It takes 60 votes for any bill to pass the Senate. The Republicans, used to getting whatever they wanted, are standing four square at preventing bills from being passed. They think the American public will forget such things as they bailing out Bear Stearns and now put obstacles in the way of bailing out suckered home owners. They think the public will forget the vote against the health of children. They think the public will forget their support for squandering tax payer money in Iraq on Iraqi hospitals, roads, water and energy while the Iraqi bank their oil profits and Americans are faced with more exorbiant medical bills, bridges that collapse, injured troops getting shoddy care in shoddy facilities. The gist of the Bush tirade, my administration can do no wrong, anything awry is the fault of the Democratic Congress. But alas the dummy's own words prove the lie. He said even now Congress is sending him an Agriculture bill that will provide subsidies to millionaire farmers. This part may be true but no reporter asked him "if you lament subsidies for millionaire farmers why support tax breaks, subsidies and other perks for Billionaire oil companies? Why do you not release the names of the culprits who attended that secret meeting paid for by the American public? Why were not their decisions made public?" Why were not the oil execs sworn in at the meeting caired by Honest Stevens, Senator from Alaska? You are supporting a policy where it is not the public's business nor the business of the Congress to know who, and what policy decisions were made. Bush Press Conference: It's A "Tough Time For Our Economy"

Take note how the brilliant Bush laid the blame for all our woes on Congress. Judd Gregg Senate Republican from New Hampshire carried on the farce by maintaining it is the Democrats who are wracking up the National Debt that Our children and their offspring will have to pay. Strange how quiet "Silent Judd Gregg" was on our indebtedness when defending and voting for supplementals and other budgets with Republican perks when they were in control.
A case in point. Bush attacked the Congress for sending him an agriculture bill that would subsidize "millionaire farmers". I waited for the Q and A knowing some hotshot smart reporter would ask, "Mr. President, you maintain that Congress uses its time to send you bills that waste money by subsidizing millionaire farmers, Yet you rushed the Congress when it was controlled by Republicans to pass subsidies, tax breaks and other perks for multibillion oil corporations. Furthermore Sir, we are not allowed to know who attended that meeting, nor what was really discussed there. And sir, it seems that the increase in energy prices started shortly after that meeting took place. If a fly on the wall of that secret meeting could speak, one wonders what it would say? But alas there was not a hotshot reporter at that press conference... Nor was there a smart one there. posted 04/30/2008 at 07:27:07
Once again our media deceive and dilute the President's words. The President said that Congress is at fault for everything. Even now, chirped our erstwhile president, "they have passed and will send me an agriculture bill that would give subsidies to millionaire farmers".

I waited patiently for the question/answer period where I believed some hotshot member of the media would ask, "Mr. President, if you find it abhorrent to give millionaire farmers subsidies, why then Sir, did you not find it just as abhorrent to give subsidies and tax breaks to multi billionaire oil companies"?

But alas that question can only be asked by a dumb American. posted 04/29/2008 at 12:56:46

What do they think bailing out Bear Stearns and the culprits who made such bad loans to home owners is if not regulating the free market system. But notice how quickly the bailout came for the very culprits who made the bad if not crooked decisions, and how slowly efforts are moving to help the people who for whatever reason will lose their homes. posted 03/25/2008 at 09:07:00

A Collection Of Hateful Comments That Can Be Found On Fox News' Website

I just love it when Bill harps on the sexual enterprises of others. How much did Bill O pay for phone sex? Spitzer's spendings (take this which ever way you wish) seems a pittance compared to Bill for satisfying sexual urges. posted 03/21/2008 at 08:14:26

The Most Dramatically Tragic Week

Isn't it amazing the speed with which this government rushes to bail out companies, corporations and CEOs who produced their own private hell with other people's money and then are rewarded by millions of bonuses for their effort to ruin the businesses they were in.
Now watch the months of finagling, delaying, and obstructing help for the victims of the above crimes. Take note, thus far nary a one in the credit industry and mortgaging industry has been indicted. Indeed it seems the right is more apt to heap praise on these culprits because they think these crooks represent the entreprenurial spirit. posted 03/21/2008 at 06:53:57

Bill O'Reilly Needs to Enroll in "Understanding the Internet 101"

I wonder if Bill O ever gave a second's thought that the female producer with whom he had phone sex with might have considered his talks with her hate speech? posted 03/21/2008 at 08:23:36
