McCains Defaulted On Home Taxes For Last Four Years, Newsweek Reports

Yep -- first thing that caught my eye. A $1m home, avg. city lot, where i live in Texas is easily $15,000 a year. posted 06/29/2008 at 06:52:08

Lara Logan, Michael Ware Involved In Steamy Baghdad Love Triangle

One point that is not gossipy, which perhaps someone further down may have already addressed, is the coincidental timing here in relation to Ms. Logan's increasing prominence on the media stage, and that this exposé is likely a warning/punishment-meted-out to Ms. Logan, who does not tow the party line. Note the snips from the Post article:

"Tale of the love fight first broke on the freerepublic.com in December." [so this was known about 7 months ago... how curious the Post reports it, hence giving it super-size MSM reach, just now.]

"The scandal comes just as the former model's journalistic career is starting to skyrocket." [i.e., her truth telling is attracting too much attention, and perhaps the last straw was her Daily Show appearance just 5-days earlier, where she laid it all out, and even took a swipe at Laura Bush's photo-op visits to Afghanistan]

"Yesterday, CBS announced, without a hint of irony, that she was given a new Washington assignment as chief foreign-affairs correspondent." [promoted to a state-side desk job, where she will be impotent, and soon fall by the wayside... ] posted 06/29/2008 at 07:21:59

Super-Rich Actually See Wealth Grow

I so whole-heartedly agree. Huffpost is not the only site guilty of this, i.e., referring to a 1 mill portfolio as "super-rich," as the Huff header puts it. Many of the left leaning and progressive blogs make this error. One's house can easily be most of that, and is often just a basic house, not bad, but certainly, absoutely not rich, no less "super" rich. The left will lose countless votes on this point, as they scare off people that are otherwise aligned to their world view, but are put off at being endlessly placed on the defensive on this point.

In 2008, a million dollars is... not... rich, and certainly not "super" rich. Please Huffpost, adjust your rhetoric for inflation. posted 03/30/2008 at 15:09:44
