NY Times, Washington Post Confirm Arianna's Story That McCain Did Not Vote For Bush

"Liberal blogger"??? What's with the WP? Can't they just say "political blogger" or "Democratic blogger"? The term "liberal" just smacks of derision--I find it a perfectly lovely word, but when they use it, it becomes a pejorative! posted 05/09/2008 at 10:13:06

Chris Matthews Admits: MSNBC Bosses Were "Basically Pro-War"

Joe Trippi: I Should Have Told Edwards To Stay In Race

Joe Trippi's statement here sounds little more to me than someone trying to re-establish credibility he has lost, he's trying to keep his name relevant. The thing is that it wasn't his decision to make and Edwards is responsible for himself. I think he should have stayed in--the fact that he's lost in the past doesn't mean he shouldn't have gone all the way with this one. If he were still in, I think he'd be the clear choice by now. posted 05/02/2008 at 06:58:49
The way our stupid system works, John Edwards could still be the Democrats' candidate. When the delegates go to the convention in August, they could elect Edwards as the candidate, they don't have to pick Obama or Cllinton. Edwards was on the ballot in my state, Texas, and I voted for him. He suspended his campaign but he has never said he doesn't want to be president. I don't want him to endorse Obama or Clinton, I want him to stay true to his convictions and stay out of it until after the convention. posted 05/02/2008 at 06:55:46

Why Don't Poems Rhyme Anymore?

No one person or group gets to decide what an art form "is." Poetry is an expression of what the poet is thinking and feeling, which can be very formal or completely free of formal constraints. Readers determine which poetry lives on and which doesn't but they don't control how poets express themselves. It's bad enough that Americans don't read much anymore, it would be even worse if they stopped writing too. I'm an English professor who prefers more formal poetry but I do like some free verse and I always appreciate any writers attempt to express him or her self. posted 04/20/2008 at 13:07:11

4000 US Soldiers Killed In Iraq

What does it mean, "IF Bush succeeds in Iraq"? He's already told us we've been victorious. Oh yeah, I forgot, he's a habitual liar. Iraq doesn't have a royal family so I'm not sure who you think the money is going to, unless you mean the Bush/Cheney family. As long as the Iraqis know we're going to be there, they will not take over from us. Every once in a while there's an interview with someone from the Iraqi parliament who says they want the Americans out, people interviewed on the streets say they want us to go home, and yet we stay. The Bush admin. doesn't give a sh*t what the Iraqis want, they will stay there until our allies all rebel and pull their troops out. Did you hear the latest....Bush wants the British to have a surge in southern Iraq. How many Brits have to die for nothing? Just watch the numbers of body bags and years roll by..... posted 03/24/2008 at 07:10:07
there's 25 million people living in Iraq? that's more than I thought. but I"m not sure they're not living under a dictatorship....how much say do the people of Iraq have in what's going on there? I'm pretty sure it's close to 0. Is their parliament even meeting?? do the 4000 dead soldiers mind that they were killed? guess we'll never know, eh? they died in service to their country but not in defense of it. big difference there, Hairy. posted 03/24/2008 at 07:03:10
