Spooking Ourselves Out of Prosperity

After centuries of colonialism Imperialism proved to be more effecient.
Now there is Globalization.
It is a scheme to avoid accountability for the end results of a type colonialism.
There is nothing fair about exploiting cheap labor and resources and selling the stuff to others who can afford it since those who produce the junk and cannot.. Keeping them people in poverty doesn't justify the idea that they are used to being dirt poor, so it is o.k. because a dollar a day is big money to them.
It is all a big lie to make the rich richer and enslave the disenfranchised. posted 07/08/2008 at 07:40:02

His ad featuring lots of supposed soldiers faces asking thet they be allowed to,"Finish the job" makes me wonder wahat is the job?

Female, Teen Suicide Bombers Increasingly Used By Terrorists

Once there is no hope and a person has nothing left to lose what is the point of dying as a starving dog when the occupying country provides targets of opportunity.
What hope do children and women have when the country is in ruin, their families destroyed, perhaps murdered or slowly dying of wounds in front of them, their tortured memories full of injustice and rage.
At best it prevents,"Business" as usual and negates the, "Things are getting better" theme the administration so desperately wants to start crowing about to justify the pillage of an innocent country.
I'd guess one can imagine they are getting some form of payback or making a statement by taking others with them. With nothing left to live for, seems human nature to throw some feelings of divine justice into the murderous mix.

Rove and others live above scrutiny as well as the truth.
I tend to wonder what foreign banks Chaney keeps money in? His business associates have off shore accounts and get no bid contracts which they fail to honor. Why would he not?
Certainly our leaders have protected their millions in foreign curriencies knowing the dollar would lose value with the borrowing they instigated. Is that why Dubai is such a heaven, or is it just for the gambling and international prostitutes? He was supposed to be fishing with some Sheiks recently but is still the color of a maggot. Here is what will drop prices and end widespread rape of the country.
Declare the situation as a matter of national survival as if we are under attack...we are.
Tax billionaires at 90%. Mandate all revenue earned pass through US banks not sent to Cayman Island accounts.
Tax all oil corporate windfall revenue at 100%.
Take the money and build wind farms as Public Utilities with strict caps on management salaries and strong oversite of sub contractors. Pay all employees a living wage with non profit government health care. Make the enterprise PUBLIC, sell bonds on top of the taxed money.
Work with Public funding in direct competition to the international oil corporations. Sell wind energy as non-profit.

Major Networks Putting Iraq On The Back Burner: Reporters

They have to because ignore Iraq because the truth is starting to rear it's ugly head.
The US is less welcome than ever.
Right now there is pressure on Iraq to accept absolute immunity for hired killers as well as the establishment of many permanent US forts to protect the extraction of their oil.
They are expected to recognize that the Pentagon has the ultimate soverignity in their country so Us troops will be able to act with impunity as they see fit.
The deal is for international oil companies to get 80% of all oil revenues..the standard deal they get elsewhere, for example Equatorial Guinea where the dictator has been bought and paid for as his people wash clothes in the river and get nothing from the oil profits.
The Iraq situation will next defined as a,"Security" issue not one of invasion and occupation because the, "Deal" will have been recognized by a, "Legitimate" Iraqui government...our great ally in the fight against ."Terror".
Iraq will be expected to raise forces to fight their own people along with the hired guns from the USA.

Big Western Oil Companies Set To Return To Iraq

The decline of the dollar indicates what happens when debt is owed. With no value to the money the debt cannot be paid but the lender does end up in control.
This is no different from the money we have been lending to the puppet governments to our South. Not just in fake forms of military aid but through the World bank as development loans.
The benificaries are international corporations not the population here or there.
In spite of great natural resources the majority of people remain impoverished. Historically, standards of living improved when the US was preoccupied with WW2.
No government programs can be deveolped to help people since they must be approved by the loan holders who naturally think any advancement will end the debt, ending their free lunch. This is why Chavez is despised. Not only has he nationalized corporate interests that dominated the economy. He promises to establish programs to end World bank dominance and nationalized corporate interests.
Recently Target sought a loan from a foreign bank diong business in the US. They company was denied the money because they offered their employees better benifits than other such stores.
Through foreign borrowing, there will soon be no, "us" in USA.

What a downer that would be for Letterman's show.
He was joking in as silly and unfeeling a way as the character he developed for TV, as the audience would hope to see.

Clint Eastwood: Spike Lee Should "Shut His Face", Lee Responds, "We're Not On A Plantation"

It is foolish to look to hollywood movies for history lessons.
These two could very well have staged this feud to draw attention to themselves.
Eastwood would destroy his image with a mea culpa.
This is great for Lee. He can challenge the better known guy and go off politically correct, hopefully with people interested in his next film.
Eastwood's WW2 film is about as irrelevant as can possibly be. Some controversial publicity will help market it, and all involved.
People should pay more attention to what is going on in the real world today, not propaganda films.
A Black man is running for President, the country is going broke, and destroying it's military with misguided adventures.
These two egotistical men arguing like kids is just a publicity game and means nothing. posted 06/08/2008 at 11:50:17
It is wrong for people go to hollywood movies to learn history.
Actually movies are the worst form of propaganda for the gullable non-intellectual.
Some people actually thought Ronald Reagan wasa war hero. He just lived it up the whole time making propaganda films.
This smells like a personal feud to help marketing the marketing images of both men. Sort of a Jerry Springer deal to draw attention to themselves.
Certainly, Eastwood would not help his image with a mea culpa. Lee can slink away snarling and correct, with people interested in his next work.
This controversy helps market this film which mainly says, "Rally about the flag."
The country is sick of misguided wars and may not go to this movie as gas reaches $5.00 while administration threatens to take even more oil off the world market statring a war against Iraq.

Spike Lee just doesn't want to be forgotten. I'd bet in his heart he cares less about anyone.
He wants to maintain an image so people will pay attnetion to his next business endevor. His stating of the obvious is a no brainer.
Eastwood made a movie as he chose, to sell it...Gibson insulted the Mayans pretty well too but they all seek a theme to sell...they are fantasies. Like Rambo, Full Metal Jacket, or Apocolypse Now, Saving Pvt. Ryan, The Indiana Joneses
This strikes me as a bit of a personal thing between them but it is about publicity first.

Sadly, all politicians seem to think of the experiences of the soldiers they send to get shot at as some kind of unreal dreamscape. Phrases like, "Boots on the ground" etc. are words used to desensitize the population to the destruction of humanity. News men get praise but are never really where the real shooting is or in the fight except by accident. They are free to get out.. Politicians can only pretend. posted 03/25/2008 at 19:38:18
