It made my blood boil when I heard Harry Reid say on television last evening that there was no use in impeaching Bush because "he's going to be out in a few months anyway".

Bush and his administration have engaged in criminal activity. You wouldn't fail to report an embezzler to the police if he stole from your company just because you fired him, and he can't do you any more damage. Crimes need to be dealt with and justice must be served. As long as Bush and Cheney are not held accountable for their crimes, we are all complicit. How humiliating will it be if we shirk our responsibility to hold them accountable and they must be tried for war crimes outside the US by other nations? If life is sacred, then it applies to ALL human life; not just the unborn, but the unwanted and uncared for, the homeless, the prisoner, and people who we characterize as our "enemies". As a progressive Catholic (no, that's not an oxymoron) I have long been troubled by the wrong-headed obstinancy of both sides of the pro-choice/pro-life movement. If one is truly pro-life, the goal should be a reduction in willful killing; whether through abortion, war, or capital punishment. It has been shown that forbidding abortion to desperate women leads to more death due to sub-standard abortion methods. On the other hand, if one makes a choice to terminate a pregnancy, it should be a truly informed choice. You're not just gettiing rid of unwanted tissue, you're ending the life of your potential child. Any woman who has had a child should understand that the only difference between the child you welcome and the fetus you terminate is the decision you make of who should live and who should die.

Outlawing abortion will not end it, just like lack of sex education won't prevent promiscuity. Obama's policies will go much farther in reducing unnecessary death, and in allowing women to make better choices with their lives. posted 06/11/2008 at 14:23:32

When he was arrested for possession of a forged ID (which he obtained so he could purchase alcohol) he protested that he needed to stay out of jail because he was important in fighting the "war on terrorism". To avoid a conviction which would have prohibited him from dealing in contracts, he entered a diversion program for first offenders and avoided a trial.
