Electing Sweetie

Amazing that the most educated voters keep voting so foolishly--if only we would take our voting cues from the less educated, agnry hard working whites in West Virginia--they are a beacon for us all...They should maybe take the vote away fom people who get too much learnin'--anyone with a degree should lose their right to vote--then all of election choices would be soooooooooooooo much better.....

"All they got on her is her husband -- the sex-addict who was a great president." Uh no--she is a liar.

After all your efforts, all you (Hillary supporters) have is a deeply flawed vessel into which you have poured your hopes for a woman president. Her greatest flaw being a complete lack of personal integrity. That is not a Right wing construction--that is this woman's demonstrable personal flaw. From phony questions from her planted operatives, to phony cheerleaders at her latest rallies with all the Bosnia, Northern Ireland lies in between not to mention the made up story of snubs at he State of the Union, to spreading lies about Obama's record on Pro-choice--this is a candidate willing to say any lie, twist any fact, smear any person to get elected.

According to Ms Jong Americans are just voting "emotionally." I would say that the only ones voting emotionally are those willing to swallow all of Clinton's flaws and still support her even to the point of writing ridiculous, distorted, dishonest attacks on the better candidate like this one. posted 05/16/2008 at 11:59:37

John McCain: Obama Unfit To Protect The United States

you realize that John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are not going to live forever...and likely will not make it thru the next president's term....and who knows about Breyer, Souter or even Kennedy --so-- for these Petulant Clinton dreamers:

I know what you're thinking. "do you want 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 Right wing justices for the next 30 years? How many justices will the next President get to appoint? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is the Supreme Court of the United States, the most powerful long lasting force affecting our day to to day lives in this country, and could blow protections of civil rights and Roe v Wade clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?" posted 05/16/2008 at 12:41:43
Enjoy your Supreme Court where 2 more Aito clones have replaced Ginsburg and Stevens and given the Right wing a solid and very young majority to overturn Roe v Wade and turn back the clock a century for the next 50+ years going forward....this is a very dangerous and stupid game to play if you were a Clinton supporter.... posted 05/16/2008 at 12:21:27

Exit Poll Parsing Presents a False Choice

Barack knows that REAL change must arise from the bottom and be demanded by the people before those at the top will make the change happen -because there is nothing as relentless as an idea whose time has come...

As usual -in the event something "happened" to the President- the Vice President would assume the Presidency....that Bill already has two terms is irrelevant...people think the Constitution limits anyone to two terms as President---it does no such thing...it limits anyone to two ELECTIONS to President....

theoretically--Bill Clinton could be elected vice Prez--the Prez could become incapacitated--he couldthen serve out that term but could not run for re-election--so then theoretically he could run for Congress--win and somehow become speaker of the house and then IF the sitting Prez and vice Prez become incapcitated and he would again be President...--since he would only have been ELECTED President twice as is the rule...Gerald Ford served as President and was not even elected once....if all of this happened people might then want to go back and look into the Vince Foster thing to say the least.... posted 05/12/2008 at 12:27:16

Actually I just described an observed difference in behaviour--there is much more of the personal attacking of Obama supporters by HRC supporters than in anything I am saying....and I can't very well point this observed difference without it somehow seeming to be "attacking" them....but it is not an attack on them personally--it is a call for those people to change what they do not an attack on who they are---I call THEM no names --I don't call them robots or imply they are not hard-working- or that they are naive---I criticize only what they are doing....

I reserve the personal descriptions and insults for the candidate--Ms Clinton-- whom I feel we all have gotten to know much more about than we can know about the 16 million plus supporters on either side....and she has revealed herself--in ways that both her detractors like me and her supporters would agree are not desirable traits in most people even if we disagree whether we want such a person as President.... posted 05/11/2008 at 16:25:06
HRC and her supporters seem to always attack Obama supporters...Robots, cult like, hypnotised, racist, foolish, naive, not hardworking....they attack Obama-fine-no problem-that is legit --but they describe Obma supporters in insulting, demeaning ways:.
This is first of all unhelpful---HRC would have needed the support of us nonhardworking naive robots eventually---insulting us is strategically foolish..(But HRC has specialized in strategic foolery this campaign)
The descriptions of us Obama supporters is something neither SHE nor her rabid attack dogs can actually know. There are over 16 million people who voted for OBAMA--I willing to bet most of the people describing Obama supporters so derisively cannot tell you even the first name of 5 of those 16 million people much less anything about our personalities or work habits.

Meanwhile most Obama supporters (like myself) confine our critical comments to pointing out Clinton's flaws--not her supporters--Her..her lies, her duplicity-her eveerything Amy Poehler said about her...Her supporters and Obama supporters often actually agree on this point--she is ruthless and dirty--the difference is that her supporters think that is necessary and we don't...Let's just emphasize the points we agree on and let the rest go--we agree she is a ruthless fighter who is willing to say or do anything to win...agreed.? posted 05/11/2008 at 11:15:23

Obama Vice President Picks: Who Are The Frontrunners?

He is not ineligible to be elected VIce President---only to be elected President....the 12th Amendment says he would have to be ineligible to BE president---he is not ineligible to BE president---he is ineligible to be ELECTED President...if he were to become speaker of the house and the Pres and VP became incapcitate he could BECOME President--fair and square and constitutional...you mistate the 12th and 22nd Amendments. posted 05/11/2008 at 16:48:35
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice..." 22nd Amendment limits ELECTION to President--not term limits...Bill Clinton would not be ELECTED to President more than twice in this scenario---he would be elected to the VP...and there is no constitutional restriction on that...and that included the 12th Amendment which only forbids foreign borns etc from being Pres or VP.. posted 05/11/2008 at 10:55:55
just to add one more thought---the Constitutional term limits are NOT a limit on terms--it is a limit on ELECTION to office....it explicitly allowed that a vice President who became President (like LBJ) who was serving out another President's term can run for office of President two more times...Clearly there is no term limit per se--if a VP became Prez a few minutes after inauguration-he/she could serve the full term and run and be elected two more times.
Once again--with my emphasis added is the EXACT language of the 22nd amendment:

"No person shall be ELECTED TO the OFFICE of the PRESIDENT more than twice..." posted 05/11/2008 at 10:51:05
I have to disagree--There is no legal barrier here...Bill Clinton is not ineligible for anything EXCEPT election to President...the language of the amendment is VERY clear...
say Cheney drops dead from a heart attack right now...Bush could appoint Bill Clinton vice president...this in no way violates the 22nd Amendment...Same thing for being elected to the house--say Bill Clinton runs for House of Representatives (JQ Adams did AFTER he was Presdent of the US...and he becomse speaker of the house--perfectly legal....then the Prez and vice prez are somehow incapacitated---Bill C would be the President--and since he was not ELECTED to the office he could serve out the term--he could never run for re-election--but he can hold anyposition in government
The only thing he is forbidden from doing is being ELECTED President. posted 05/11/2008 at 10:45:22

In general I do think military experience is helpful in being Commander in Chief--those who have actually been in battle- like Eisenhower are wiser about the judicious use of force..Teddy Roosevelt got a Nobel Peace Prize---Chickenhawks and pretend cowboys like Cheney and Bush are the ones who swagger around and provoke with their "Bring it On" attitude...but those with military experiene are not immune to holding a more cavalier and less responsible attitude about the use of force (Douglas McArthur for example)- McCain seems to be from the same school--(Maybe it is the military and the Mc at the start of their names?)

My candidate for VP would bring the Obama ticket unparalled experience in government, in making decisions about use of force, and while a page from the past has the promise of being a bridge builder to the future -BILL CLINTON for VP! posted 05/11/2008 at 10:36:11

No - I don't think that applies. The 12th Amendment was written long before the Amendment you think makes Bill Clinton ineligible but I believe that is strictly not true...obviously the 12th amendment had nothing at all to do with term limits---it was just about the qualifications to BE President and vice Prez...
The later amendment about term limits -The 22nd Amendment -forbids Bill Clinton from being ELECTED President---that does not make him ineligible to BE the President--and therefore he is not ineligible to be the Vice President under the 12th Amendment.

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice..." that is all it says--he would not be ELECTED to the office of the President more than twice. posted 05/11/2008 at 01:53:49

Since I assume you realize that it can only go up what do you think will happen to the price of gas when demand goes up? I realize from watching her that math is not something she likes to think about (along with truth, consistency, honor, kindness, personal responsiblity, fiscal responsibility, etc) but why is no one in the media raising this simple equation... posted 04/26/2008 at 03:19:07

Thoughts on Pennsylvania, Clinton and Obama from a "Realisticrat"

If she is the more formidible opponentexplain some facts for me:

Fact--Rush Limbaugh is encouraging Repubs to vote for her?

Fact-- Her own campaign (ed Rendell) states Fox News is the only fair media outlet in the campaign--meaning Fox News is bending over to be nice to Clinton campaign

Fact- McCain has not said one word critical of Hillary anytime lately. When he speaks critically of the opposition it is always against Obama.

So why would those things happen if Clinton really were the better candidate would the right wing be doing these things to help her?
So please explain these incontrovertible facts in a way that fits the ridiculous biased narrative that SHE is the better candidate...here is a clue..you can't because the theory is wrong..when multiple independent lines of evidence like the above all contradict your theory--you need a new theory...here it is...

Clinton is despised by 48% of the country--they will NEVER VOTE FOR HER. NEVER. That leaves her needing to get 92% of the rest...show me how you work your way backwards from that to her being the more electable. posted 04/22/2008 at 19:07:13

Obama Set To Announce New Superdelegates After Pennsylvania Primary

I am confused--after all the lies told by Clinton why would you vote for her...any supposed number of lies by Obama is but a pittance when stacked up against decades of Hil-LIE-Ry and her "difficult relationship with the truth." Hillary Clinton In Pennsylvania: It's All Too Late

-so another Clinton supporting column where at least we get the very slight -almost admission of anything like acceptance of personal responsibility....The BAD Hillary narrative is only PARTLY her fault...her decades of lying and distortion which continue on a weekly basis in this campaign her failure to run a strategic nationwide campaign, to use loyalty not competence as a way to organize her key advisors, her carelessness with money....none of that would have mattered if not for the part that is not her fault---which is what again? Bill's fault? He was SOOO out of her control...The sexist media? or The sexist electorate? Whover it is--poor victim Hillary--it was not your fault....
The behaviour of the Hillarites as they fail is even more illustrative of why they deserve to fail. posted 04/22/2008 at 14:21:49

I don't understand how anyone--man or woman -can still support Hillary Clinton as she has been exposed as an INVETERATE LIAR. From the beginning of her phony campaign of "a conversation with voters" with the planted questions to the lies about Obama and choice in NH, to the lies about being snubbed at the State of the Union, to her lies about her "contributions" in Ireland, Bosnia, Macedonia, SCHIP....

What Will a Hillary Clinton Presidency Look Like?

MMIller-Wrong wrong wrong
You have made up and/or mistakenly repeated most of what you have written. He attended a Catholic school for 2 years and a Muslim school for 2 years. He was raised without any religion. His Father left when he was 2..He met him again BRIEFLY for a few weeks when he was 10. His father left his mother. So you have ZERO credibility talking about Barack Obama.
FL and MI--why not just seat all delegates based on the polls taken before any campaigning takes place...just like FL and MI--what the heck does campaigning do except inform voters about something beyond name recognition--Hillary's main claim --FL and MI are reflections of what happens if voters have no clue what they are voting about and go with name recognition...and what about the voters who voted Republican or stayed home because they believed the DNC when they were told the DEM primary did not count? Those voters might have voted if they knew the rules were going to be changed. Why should they be disenfranchised by rules changes? posted 04/15/2008 at 21:52:50
The majority of "success" of the Bill Clinton's presidency was a result of his having to work with a Republican Congress and its Contract with America. Before that--he was a failure. I would add that the success of the Congress depended on Bill. Who Can Beat McCain?

There are so many evidence challenged things in Alec's post one hardly knows where to begin:
1) lotta folks don't like Hillary because she is a liar. PERIOD. Nothing to do with gender or race.
2) Polls in Ohio showed that those who find race or gender important overwhelmingly go for Hillary. And they of course tend to be less educated as one would expect from bigots.
3)Hillary would play Congress like a violin? Like she did with her first crack at Health care reform? Have you read anything about her thuggish refusal to work with Moynihan and Bradley and Cooper? How she doomed reform to this very day by her threats to destroy anyone who got in her way? She would play that violin like a gorilla handles a Samsonite suitcase.
4) Obama appointing HIllary anything would shock me-maybe ambassodor to Bosnia--- she probably won't serve out her Senate term once the White House is out of her reach...and her lying ways have no business on the Highest Court in the land.... posted 04/07/2008 at 02:20:20

What a shame and a sham that SNL said absolutely NOTHING at ALL about Clinton being caught in her Tuzla lie, then lying about it saying she was sleep deprived...after bad mouthing Sinbad's ACCURATE account of the whole thing...and he lies about Ireland and Macedonia and the Hospital in Ohio and SCHIP---surely there was comedy to be mined from that---except it would have exposed Hil-lie-Ry for the serial liar and phony she is....
