In Break With Bush, Iraq PM Demands US Withdrawal Timetable

Progressives Must Guard Against Helping to Promote Republican Narrative That Alleges Obama "Flip Flops"

Who's YOUR "we?" Obama's got a big picture. You've bought into the right wing spin which renders everything they disagree with as 'small picture.' posted 07/07/2008 at 09:44:37

GOP Rep: Bush "Should Stay Home" During Republican Convention

The GOP is a lot like my uncle, sticking with W when he was frontrunner, or the Yankees when they were frontrunners. He says, these days, he 'doesn't watch much baseball.' He doesn't much follow politics these days. Here's hoping he doesn't follow politics or baseball for many years to come. posted 07/07/2008 at 10:12:14

The Simple Arithmetic of a Fraudulent Surge

A Signing Statement is a Dictator's tool. Yes, the signing statement has been around. The difference is like the difference between someone who has slept around and someone who has slept around for money.
Have you asked yourself how you feel about the next president using signing statements? How do you feel about anyone in this country declaring themselves above the law? I'm not OK with that, are you? posted 07/07/2008 at 10:04:53

Pick a Meme, Any Meme

I'm with you Mikey. I'm looking forward to John McCain and repeating all the good things that have happened for the last 7 plus years. Which good thing, Mike53, are you hoping for a second helping of?, another unprovoked war in the middle east, or another reworking of the constitution, or is it the signing statements you look forward to? Which good things Mike, name them for us and you got to admit John McCain is committed to all the good things W promoted, hundreds of billions in profits for big oil, higher gas prices and, AND, tens of billions in tax breaks for them. My hunch is that's your good thing. Am I right? posted 06/27/2008 at 14:53:17

Clear Channel Bans Ads For Harry Shearer's CD Over Anti-Bush Image

Jesus did not hate the sinner. He rejected the sin. And just so with America. You can love America and everything wonderful America has ever done but for God's sake you can't love the sins America has committed. In just the way, you love a child who has mostly done wonderful things but who made a mistake and drove drunk one night. You absolutely do not love that he or she drove drunk and changed somebody's life forever, right? You hate that sin and you forgive your child but you and your child BOTH own up to and hate that particular sin, right?
I, too, have failth in my country. I served my country, Army Infantry Vietnam 1968-69 but I don't love what happened at My Lai. We've got to love America the way a parent loves each of their family. praising their better self and calling them out when they sin grievously. And if you don't feel that way you're not all the American you ought to be. posted 06/27/2008 at 14:36:54
Phil, your objection, in part, reads, "But disfiguring his image is extremely disrespectful and childish."
How do you feel about the disfiguring of American servicemen and women in the service of the baldface lies the bushman told? Or do you contend the bushman believed the lie? Did he believe when he was goofing in the oval office, "no wmd behind the drapes, no wmd under the chair." Tell me Phil what you think of a bushman who makes light of the reason he sent thousands to die and tens of thousands to be maimed? Let's say you believe he believed the wmd lie, what do make of him making funny with the lie that has maimed and killed the men and women who defend you and your family? posted 06/27/2008 at 14:18:25

I'll Trade You the 2nd Amendment for the 4th

magisterluddite, if we agree it is our right to own guns, is there such a thing as too many guns? Is it my constitutional right to own 10 guns, a hundred guns, a 1,000 guns? Would you be alright with Americans, only those who are neither felons nor insane, owning a billion guns, just five or ten per every eligible person in America? Would American be safer with two billion guns than we would be with one billion guns? What is the tipping point? Do we become infinitely safer as the number of guns increases in America or is there a point at which the number of guns begins to undermine our safety? Is America safer if I own more firepower than my local law enforcement? Is my community safer If I own ...and reserve the right to use when I deem necessary....armor piercing ballistics? And one last question, if you're in a bank when an armed robbery happens and there are, say, 25 people each carrying a weapon and most or all of them use that weapon to stop THE GUY THEY THINK IS THE BANKROBBER, you know the one that's got a gun in his hand, how's that work out for us? posted 06/27/2008 at 15:14:52

Hollywood Hates Me, It Really Hates Me

So, Doug, you're just another poor, misunderstood good Republican citizen? I would like to know how you feel, now, about your 2000 vote and 2004 vote. And finally, I wonder can you give me a one word difference between Bush and McCain? posted 06/27/2008 at 10:58:04

Thoughts on Sen. Obama's Decision to Opt Out of Public Financing

So many people are so easily swayed by channels like Fox News.

Bush and McCain: Drilling us into a Deeper Hole

Out of curiousity, are you ok with the 40 BILLION $ Exxon profited? Are you ok with this administration giving them tens of billions more for research? And lastly, tell us why support Exxon's profits and government handouts to them on top of their billions in profits? Make sense of that for us, ok? Thanks. posted 06/19/2008 at 09:43:24

Global Warming Denialism on The Huffington Post and Beyond

Wind and Solar won't get the job done.
......You make it sound like an all or nothing proposition. Do you really believe any of us think wind and solar will entirely displace fossil fuels? Nah. I think the point is why be so dependent on any one source of energy? How about an economy that gets power from 10 sources? Makes it harder for big oil or big coal to treat our energy appetite like a cash cow. We need diversity to strengthen America. posted 06/17/2008 at 09:57:17
