Jane Steuerwald produces experimental works in film and video and has exhibited extensively in the United States including MoMA, Anthology Film Archives, the Corcoran Museum of Art, the Black Maria Film & Video Festival, The Jersey City Museum, Millennium Film, Ocularis at Galapagos Art Space, Athens International Film Festival, the Robert Beck Memorial Cinema at Collective Unconscious, the Atlanta Film and Video Festival, The Kitchen and The Franklin Furnace. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Donnell Media Center, NYC. Jane Steuerwald served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Black Maria Film & Video Festival for many years. She was a juror of film, video, and sound for the NJ State Council on the Arts/Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland. She received Artist Fellowships from NJ State Council on the Arts as well as grants from the NJ Historical Commission, the Puffin Foundation, and NJ City University. Ms. Steuerwald is the coordinator and curator of Urban Image, a collective of media artists based at the Media Arts Department of NJ City University; and the curator of the Womenswork Media Collective also based in Jersey City. Screenings of Urban Image and Womenswork showcases have played in many prestigious venues including Millennium Film, Galapagos ArtSpace, The Jersey City Museum, the Landmark Loews Jersey Theater, the Hoboken Historical Museum, and the NJ State Film Festival at Cape May where Steuerwald is a guest curator. She was Chair of the Media Arts Department of NJ City University for seventeen years, and teaches media production, aesthetics, and history. She was chosen for inclusion in Whos Who in American Colleges and Universities in the US, Fall 2005.
