I joined HuffPo about three years ago looking for some enlightenment and intelligent conversation. Honestly, not thinking I would stay long, I signed up using my full name as a screen name. Now, as a HuffPo "regular," and realizing I will probably be here for a long time to come, I decided to be a little more creative and joined under a new name.

Florida is my home, although my roots originate in Columbus, Ohio. I run a small business from my house, while parenting two brilliantly challenging teens with my significant other of 18 years. Matthew and Emma are 17 and 15.

Politically, I am a registered Democrat. My house was used as one of the headquarters for electing President Obama this year, Florida being a crucial state. This was one of the most rewarding paths I have ever taken.

No, I am not a liberal and get pretty miffed when someone calls me one. I do not think the welfare system works. FDR started a program that was meant to temporarily assist, not to become a permanent fixture in our government. I am pro-choice, undecided about capital punishment and believe that education by any means is the key to happiness, fulfillment and success. My quote, "If you can't do it yourself - figure out how."

Religiously, I have no affiliation. I am not anti-religion, but I don't happen to have strong beliefs in either direction. On this point, I will not be swayed.

Purposely, I have omitted my gender and sexuality. I am not trying to hide these things, but find that conversations with others with no prior knowledge of these things make for more open-minded discussions. That's not to say I will not divulge if pertinent to make a point, lol.
