I agree with you. The GOP has absolutely NO idea what the Constution means, stands for, the reasons for its existence, its limits, etc. Obama, as well as 99.9% of the Dems GET it. They understand it well. posted 05/15/2008 at 12:49:52
ebanks84, I understand you, and I agree for the most part, however, EVERYONE can be hurt by words. It's just that the one who wants to be mean by using nasty words has to know which words to use to do the hurting. Calling a black or white person the same name doesn't necessarily have the same effect due to the groups' experiences with that word. For example, it is hurtful to most black people to hear racial slurs, so if someone wants to hurt a black person, they may choose a racial slur. Calling the same person something else probably won't achieve the objective, i.e. to cause emotional pain. Most while people find it hurtful to be called a racist or bigot. So, if someone calls a white person a bigot or racist the speaker can achieve their objective, i.e. to cause emotional pain. Words are painful for everyone. posted 05/15/2008 at 12:10:33
Yeah, I too have a big problem with Democrats, who should be the Party most accepting of those who may have less than them or are less educated, than them, etc. calling fellow Democrats names simply because they are in disagreement with choices made by those other Democrats. I thought this was supposed to be the Party that wants to help bring change to those who may be afflicted by the remnants of bad economic policies, etc.

To call people less fortunate than you derogatory names is the height of arrogance and unAmerican. To do so is also NOT what the Democratic Party stands for. The people who are being called these names are the ones who need the Party's help the most. It's sad. They are fellow Democrats people.... posted 05/15/2008 at 11:54:35

Obama Muslim Smear Resurfaces: NYT Op-Ed Tags Obama As Muslim 'Apostate'

Christianity is just as bad; I agree with you. I despise all religion. ALL of it. All religions are worthless and ridiculous. I do not sugarcoat my feelings towards it. The problem as I see it is that everyone is PETRIFIED to say the truth about religion for fear of being offensive. I, for one, am sick of having to be PC when it comes to ridiculous superstitions that do nothing to advance civilization, but instead hold it back from progress. One has a CHOICE whether or not to believe in religion. Therefore, religion is an IDEA open to opposing ideas. Freedom of speech comes to a standstill if one is not PERMITTED to discuss the obsurdity of religion (an idea) because the speaker is AFRAID to offend. You have no right NOT to be offended. This is America, and I'll am free to call it like I see it. I do believe one needs to be politically correct when it comes to IMMUTABLE characterstics of human beings. However, IEDAS are open to free debate, and one who is critical of that IDEA is not STEREOTYPING. posted 05/13/2008 at 15:02:23
Again, one more reason for all religions to be abolished. Religion is absolutely worthless and does nothing to help situations, but merely complicates them.

And to all of you religious apologists out there, Islam IS a violent religion. The religion DOES call for the murder of apostates. Sorry, but it does. The guy who wrote this OpEd piece is delusional when it comes to Barack Obama's role, whether we as Americans should be concerned about Obama's religious choices, etc., but he is correct when referring to the violent tendencies of Islam. I love Sam Harris's recent piece for HuffPo called "Losing Our Spines to Save Our Necks." Everyone should read it as the political correctness we place on ourselves when it comes to this religion is very dangerous. I'm as liberal as they come, but I refuse to be PC when it comes to religion. Religion is irrational, and people need to stop being afraid to say the truth about it. I thought America was "the home of the BRAVE." posted 05/13/2008 at 09:04:37

This statement is funny as Jesus would NEVER vote Republican. Jesus was a pacifist; the Repigs are warmongers. Jesus said "give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's"; the Repigs are selfish and disgusting money horders. Jesus took care of the lowest in society; the Repigs are elistist, money grubbing, and despise state sponsored charity works. Again, here we go with the animosity. Get over the venom. You claim to be an Obama supporter because you believe in certain "values", well I see none of that righteous character in your words about your fellow Democrats. Keep it up. Alienate the Clinton supporters with your vile words toward the Clintons. Watch how far it gets you. You have to realize that we are on the same TEAM. I support Hillary Clinton, but I love Barack Obama and will vote for him in November, but that is because I would become violently ill and self-loathing if I ever voted for a Repig. Independents who support Sen. Clinton don't feel the same way I do. So, one should be careful where they spew their venom. posted 05/14/2008 at 09:24:51
If Obama supporters think they can win in November by alienating the Clinton supporters by constantly demeaning the Clintons they may want to think again. At this point (if Obama is the presumptive nominee), they need the Clinton supporters more than the Clinton supporters need them. Obama supporters should be smart and lose the animosity or you're going to find yourselves embarrassed in November. For instance, I have friends who are independents who are Clinton supporters, and they are beside themselves with anger over the way the Obama supporters speak of the Clintons. They will not vote for Obama if the constant animosity toward the Clintons continue. They find it shallow, ignorant, and inexcusable. They aren't the only ones out there who feel that way. Be careful and be smart. Lose the hatred...it is unbecoming and just makes Obama look like a fool. posted 05/13/2008 at 14:30:46

I can't count the number of times I've had to explain the meaning of "scientific theory" to someone. How many times have we all heard the words, "evolution is just a theory"? I think perhaps the problem is so rampant that scientists may have to think of better terminology to use instead of "theory". The change is probably going to have to come from the scientists' side as I don't think it is going to be possible to ever et the average person to understand the difference. Until the scientists change the terminology, I think we're always going to have the problem. posted 05/08/2008 at 08:41:36
I wish people like the Rabbi who take on debates with brilliant evolutionary biologists like Dawkins would at least know the difference between a "scientific theory" and the everyday use of the word "theory". What Is Faith?

No. The burden of proof is on you to prove the existence of God, and not on me to prove the non-existence of God. And your statement that "everyone knows life comes from life" is contradictory with your ovrall premise. It is you who said that everything came from a conscious creator. If the creator is conscious, and all life comes from life, what life form created the conscious creator? Under your own premise then, it is up to you to prove that the creator was created by a superior intelligence. Who created the superior intelligence that created the conscious creator?

Scientists have proven that life beings from the combination of material elements. This has been proven by the scientifc theory of evolution and a combination of other sciences.

Also, atheism is not a faith. It is not a belief, it is a disbelief. posted 05/07/2008 at 09:57:43

If anyone believes they have "seen" God, I suggest they take themselves to the nearest mental hospital immediately for proper evaluation. They have medication that can take care of people who see and hear delusions. posted 05/06/2008 at 09:30:27
Faith in a religious sense is to believe that there is a God despite the fact that there is no evidence that there is a God (therefore irrational). One does not question it; one does not think about it. One is to take someone else's word for it that there is a God and that one has to devote their lives to this God or else be punished...despite the fact that there is no evidence that God has ever inflicted eternal punishment on anyone. This is irrational.

The writer needs to be careful not to confuse religious 'faith" in God with a generalized "hope", or with "faith" that a supernatural being exists with "faith" that the sun will come up tomorrow. These are different things. One does not need to believe without evidence in an imaginary God to have hope or faith in life. People are told from an early age that you need to believe in God in order to be introspective. However, that is not the case. You do not need to believe in irratioanl things to have emotional responses or to know your place in the cosmos. posted 05/05/2008 at 09:04:45

The All-White Elephant In The Room

Capitalism has been "the rage" since the bubonic plague outbreaks in the middle ages, and the Catholic Church has been the biggest profiteers, so capitalism isn't a NEW invention.
Every person you name above had/has a POLITCAL agenda, and I would argue that their "goodness" had less to do with their religiousness than it did their desire for human rights, fundamental fairness, and to NOT be oppressed by a government. They had political motivations for their actions, not religious motivations. They may have been religious, but spreading the faith was not their agenda. They did not PREACH their religious views (excempt Mother Teresa) as Hagee, the Pope, and others do. Their being religious is just a side-bar. There were/are just as many people who do great works who are not religious; like Abraham Lincoln, Bill Gates, Robert Owen, Thomas Jefferson, Warren Buffet, etc..

Also, FYI, Buddism is not a religion, it is a philosophy. posted 05/05/2008 at 08:45:01
Hagee, Wright, the Pope, and all the rest of the crazy nutjob "men of God" are all the same. There are only a few of these people who exist out of the 6 billion people on the planet, but the problem lies in the billions of people who follow and believe the few nutjobs. The billions of "sheeple" who can't think for themselves are to blame. They've made the lives of the rational people in this world miserable with their lies, manipulation, and fraud. I also blame those that perpetrate the relgious fraud by teaching their moronic beliefs to their children and forcing those beliefs on the innocent generation after generation after generation and therefore molding human behavior by using fear and superstition.

The Devil You Know

"When electing a leader has become so commercialized and the candidates become so enmeshed in snide trivialities, the democratic process itself becomes a spectacle worthy of a Las Vegas theme-hotel"

Steven, this is nothing new. This has been going on since the beginning of time. For example, on a trip to Pompeii, our tour guide made us aware of the still exising grafitti on the walls from a political campaign. The words about the candidate's opponent were not very nice as the words aren't very nice today. Do you think emperors killed their rivals just for fun? Do you think Elizabeth I (a person the pope at the time called a "whore"...no dirty politics there, I guess) had Mary Queen of Scots killed for a laugh? As for our own country, you can find this stuff in EVERY campaign in this country's history. It IS the nature of the beast called politics. Please don't act like the Clintons invented dirty politics or as if they are the only ones who engage in it. Obama's claims that the Clintons are dirty politicians is in itself dirty politics. It is a less than subtle form of manipulation. They all play it. Don't act as though it is something new. If you think that if Obama gets the nomination the GOP isn't going to play dirty because it isn't the "nice" thing to do, you're sadly mistaken. posted 05/05/2008 at 10:52:38

Atheism, Religion And Discrimination

I once told someone that I was an atheist, after I said it, his facial expression changed immediately, and you could literally watch the blood drain from this guy's face. He turned white as a ghost. He was petrified and thought he was ACTUALLY talking to the "Devil". My friends and I still laugh at that guy! It was hilarious! It's like being afraid of imaginary monsters under your bed.

"A number of prominent "New Atheists", Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchins all subscribe to and propagate militancy against Muslim countries as part and parcel of their standard rhetoric."

That is because they are realists, not because they are atheists. I am a die-hard liberal,, but at the same time, I am not a pacifist. In some situations it would be UNETHICAL to be a pacifist. Jesus may have been a great spiritual leader, but would you want him as the leader of your COUNTRY? If you were living in England during WWII, who would you want as your leader? Winston Churchill or Jesus? Would it have been ethical for Jesus to turn the other cheek to Hitler's attacks on his country? Sorry. Jesus loses my vote here. I'm going with Churchill. So understand what the Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens are saying. Be rational and ethical in your decision making. Ethics and religion are TWO separate things. At times, it is more ethical NOT to be a pacifist. posted 05/01/2008 at 15:27:31
"So far not one American politician has had the intestinal fortitude to eschew the phony ancient tribal mind from this debilitated behavior!"

What about Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and numerous others? Atheist politicians were prevalent before WWI. The religious views of politicians were not at issue. Then with the rise of Communisim, the American propaganda machine took over and all of a sudden religion became important for politicians. Those atheist "commies" were coming to get us, don't ya know. The Founders would be utterly disgusted at out current situation. Thomas Jefferson would cringe at the fact that the current President believed GOD gave him the right to go into Iraq. Pathetic.

Atheists need to speak up, be proud (as we ARE in the right), and demand that the Consitution be HONORED. We are the rational ones. It takes a special person to reject the church's attempts at manipulation. Be proud of yourself for not being one of the brainwashed sheep. Break the cycle. posted 05/01/2008 at 15:10:51
I enjoyed this article, however atheism is not a belief. It is a DISbelief. Atheists don't have a credo. For instance, the majority of human beings don't believe in flying purple people eaters, but we don't say "one has a belief in the disbelief of flying purple people eaters".

The article states that the purpose of religion is for introspection. I disagree. Religions were created by humans as CANNED ANSWERS to the philosophical questions, not as TOOLS to find the answers. Religions discourage free thought. Why are we here? Answer: God. How did we get here? Answer: God. What happens when we die? Answer: You go to Heaven. Science is more stimulating than any canned answer created by some uneducated peasant who lived 3000 years ago. Don't confuse practicing a religion with philosophical introspection. Two different things. You don't need to believe in God to be introspective. God is unnecessary to have an emotional awareness about your place in the cosmos.

Also, the religious are petrified of atheists, because they are uneducated about what an atheist is. The religious believe an atheist is some sort of baby killer, devil worshiper , or something else sinister. Hello! Atheists don't believe in the DEVIL, nor do they worship ANYTHING! Atheists are the most benevolent, giving, educated, and socially aware people I know. As for the military discriminating against atheists, it's too bad that these people fight and die for a Constitution that they don't even remotely understand. THAT is America's greatest tragedy. posted 05/01/2008 at 14:24:50

Actually, everything you said is EXACLY on point to what I said. Politics is power...reality. America is unfortunately not color blind...reality. People want to rise above American sins of the past...reality. However, it is also reality that in order to get power, one must play politics. Now, what is the REALITY of how to play politics to get that power? In an IDEAL world, everyone would put their policies on the table, say nice things about their competitors, let the voters choose which of the policy plans they like better and choose a candidate, and the other candidates would acquiesce and go away politely. But, this isn't the way it is played in the REAL WORLD. Obama's a brilliant guy. He knows how to play the game. And he IS playing the game.Everytime he says Hillary is playing dirty politics, he himself is playing politics. His way to discredit her is to say SHE discredits him. Doing this IS a dirty move on his part. That is what Obama supporters seem to not comprehend. posted 04/25/2008 at 09:06:33
UGH. Of course there is nothing WRONG with being young and idealistic (I'm still young btw and not a "geezer"). However, you also have to have enough experience to KNOW how the world works. For instance, we are all idealistic and want to end hunger in Africa as we think we know what it means to be go hungry. We all have an idealistic view that hunger in Africa must stop as it's horrible, and we want to do what we can as fellow human beings to end it. A noble thing to do and a great goal to have. However, if you want to accomplish the goal, you have to take the real world into consideration. Who grows the food? How do we get it there? What is the cost? What is the political systems like in the places where we want to take the food? Will it be given to the right people? etc., etc. These things have to be worked out, and you have to be realistic about them. That was my only point in my original post. Clean politics is a noble goal, but due to human nature it is not realistic. I want to irradicate all religion. To me, that is a noble goal for numerous reasons. Unfortunately due to human nature, it just won't seem to go away. I am realistic about it. posted 04/25/2008 at 06:49:43
Your comments seem as though they came from someone very young and inexperienced in the way politics works. Be advised: Utopia isn't real. We should strive for it, but it will never exist- depressing I know. Because something "should be" doesn't mean it ever CAN be. For instance, no child should ever be abused. However, a reality where child abuse is irradicated will NEVER exist as human brains are flawed. Idealism is noble, but not realistic. Sadly, society will be crying for abused children until humans no longer exist.

Also, It's interesting how Obama supporters are only offended by HER negative attacks, but are not offended by his negative attacks. A quick history lesson, Thomas Jefferson hired "thug" journalists to otherwise destroy John Adams (someone he considered a good friend) in the press so that JA would not be re-elected. The "Thug Journalism" worked, and Jefferson was elected Pres. The country survived, so did Jefferson's reputation as a great statesman and a good man despite the dirty politics. You act like the Clintons are doing something common to ONLY them--like they invented dirty politics and are the only practitioners of it. Obama is as guilty as Jefferson, Reagan , George W. Bush, and the Clintons. Come to think of it, he's as guilty as EVERYONE in the history of politics. Being someone who is left of Marx sometimes, I can appreciate the fact that they have views similar to mine on 95% of the issues. However, I don't like the fact that they are using their privileged position of having a mass media pulpit AGAINST other people on the left. I don't think Olbermann can claim he is any different than O'Reilly when he uses O'Reilly tactics on Sen. Clinton. And, please don't even attempt to tell me he's not. Watch 5 minutes of the show, and you will see it is nothing more (at least lately) than a flophouse for Hillary bashers. It's just not enjoyable to watch the constant pounding of two people (Sen. and Pres. Clinton) who have done more, given up more, sacrificed more as public servants than 99.9% of the people out there. They deserve some respect from the people who are supposed to be on the same side. You don't have to agree with them or even like them, but at least have some respect and realize we are all on the same side. posted 04/25/2008 at 09:25:42
You are 100% right. I can't watch Rachel at all due to her bias. I see her face; I turn the channel. There's a great John Adams mini-series on HBO that needs to be watched by everyone in this country. Turn it on, and turn Olbermann off. JA is a show WORTH watching. Olbermann is just a show.

The people need a good dose of reality of what this country was REALLY founded on, who it was founded by, and WHY it was founded. We've completely lost touch, and having to listen to Rachel spout off her hatred toward Sen. Clinton for no other reason than to get her own way (to get Obama eleceted), is disturbing. posted 04/24/2008 at 17:09:08

McCain opposes equal pay bill in Senate

"They need the education and training, particularly since more and more women are heads of their households, as much or more than anybody else," McCain said. "And it's hard for them to leave their families when they don't have somebody to take care of them."

WTF?! This guy is living in 1950! Do statements like this not terrify you women out there? I am beside myself with anger right now. Sens. Clinton and Obama better jump on this statement and not get off. Ride it all the way to the election. In November, whoever the nominee is, please, please, please bombard the TV with this information. He CANNOT become President. Sickening. posted 04/24/2008 at 14:00:21

Julia Roberts: I Don't Wear Deodorant

I find it amazing that there is a story in the "entertainment" section on a POLITICAL website about the fact that someone doesn't wear deodorant, yet there is not ONE mention of the incredible John Adams mini-series on HBO. The best movie to come along about the founding of this country (especially considering what this country has been through in the last 8 years) gets no mention at all, yet there's an article about stupid, mindless drivel associated with an actress who may or may not smell bad.

This is why we're in the freakin' mess we're in. What next, "Paris Hilton uses Summer's Eve" as a headline. UGH. HuffPo, you're scaring me. posted 04/24/2008 at 16:19:03

Hawking: Unintelligent life is likely on other planets

Oh, PUUULLLEEEZ! He is a scientist and as such makes educated guesses. He takes from what he KNOWS about life on this planet, how it evolves, what it takes to create and sustain it, and is making an EDUCATED assumption of what we could expect from any sort of life form on other planets. What is it that you EXPECTED him to say? That there IS life on other planets that looks and acts EXACTLY like us? Well, there is no proof of that. He's saying it is possible, but not PROBABLE. Moreover, he is more likely correct when he talks about possible diseases that humans or other life forms on this planet could be infected (or otherwise affected) with if we are visited by alien life forms. We see that sort of genentic destruction on our own planet. Can we say the words Aztecs and Mayans anyone? HIV? Ugh. The stupidity on this board is rampant. posted 04/23/2008 at 09:26:50

Polygamist Sects: A Further Lesson In Style

We,as a society, rightfully remove children when their parents abuse them. These people have abused their children, allowed others to abuse their children, or refuse to act to stop others from abusing their children. We don't accept children suffering needlessly, especially under the guise of religion. The State of Texas hasn't abused the First Amendment or the 14th Amendment. It was the religious fanatics who did so. They have attempted to fool the rest of society into believing that their sexual exploits are acceptable religious practice and have attempted to use the First Amendment as a shield. It is sick and disturbing. The best interest of the CHILDREN is what matters. If these children are permitted to return to these people, we are leaving them to be abused and brainwashed. This is unacceptable and absolutely unAmerican. These people created their own problems. They have put their children in a perilous situation due to their own inability to protect them from sexual predators and more disturbingly they actually willingly GIVE them to the predators for exploitation. How you find that acceptable is beyond me. In this country, we need to protect those weaker than us. How dare anyone deny these kids a chance to grow up free from a life of abuse. Shame on you. As hard as it may for some to admit, sometimes the best place for a child is NOT with it's parents. posted 04/22/2008 at 15:05:46

Yes. Their time is up. Sorry to disappoint you. posted 04/21/2008 at 11:53:43
"give them back there children"

No. People who expose their children to abuse or find that it is acceptable for others to abuse them should NOT have their children back. The State has a compelling interest to ensure that ALL children in this country are protected from abuse. Allowing one's children to marry at the age of 13 (or failing to protect them from it) wherefore exposing them to sexual abuse is no different than the morons that forced the 18 month old to smoke pot, from those that beat their children, or those that refuse to feed their children, etc. One CANNOT hide behind the guise of religion in order to justify the sexual abuse of children. The state of Texas (wherefore the PEOPLE of Texas) have passed a law stating that one does not have the mental capacity to consent to marriage earlier than the age of 16 even with a parent's consent. As a result, these people have broken the law and HAVE abused their children. End of story. For the life of me, I cannot figure out the mental thought processes of ANYONE who believes the behavior of these religious nutjobs is okay. posted 04/21/2008 at 08:37:02
Ugh. Spoken like one truly brainwashed.

You're right. My government can do very little to quash religion. However, it absolutely has the power to stop particular religious practices if it has a compelling interest to do so. For instance, if a particular relgious practice is dangerous to the health of its citizens. One could not claim that taking cocaine is a legitimate religious practice and insist that they could engage in taking cocaine in church and be protected. The State could stop this, legally. The State has a rational, compelling state interest in ensuring that cocaine is not used in this country for countless reasons. Also, who said I wanted the power of the State to FORBID people from practicing a religion? I don't want the government coming in and forbidding the exercise of religion. What I want is for people to come to the realization on their own through education and by taking a scientific interest in the world. Religion is stupid, petty, ridiculous, and a horrifying way to view life and death. We need to move on from our primitive superstitions....on our own as curious human beings, not by the power of government. The only thing I want government to do is to take away their tax exempt status. Brainwashing people should NOT qualify as a charity. It is not necessary to brainwash people in order to be considered a tax exempt "charity". Tax exempt status for churches is a racket, and it hurts other charities. posted 04/20/2008 at 21:33:24
I feel sorry for these women as they are the victims of serious brainwashing. However, the methods used to get these people to believe in the ridiculous are no different than those used by any other religion. Get them while their young, put the fear of both God and hell in them, and break them into subservience. Sounds like every other religious organization out there. This is exactly why ALL religions and all their abusive tactics need to go bye-bye. We should treat religious belief like any other mental illness. Complete paranoid delusion. It's sad that in the 21st Century, we STILL give religion a pass. WAKE UP. posted 04/18/2008 at 09:56:45

My Spiritual Journey: The Pope, His Relevance, And Those Sexual Molestation Cases

jfor,

I agree with most of what you say, however atheist do not have "faith that God does not exist". Faith is the belief in something without proof. Atheists look at the PROVEN evidence and conclude either that God does not exist or there is no way of proving that God exists. They don't have FAITH that God does not exist. posted 04/17/2008 at 08:43:35
Whether he's relevant or not isn't the question. The real question is, in the 21st Century SHOULD he be relevant? The answer is no. We as a species should move beyond needing to believe in the ridiculous to feel empowered. I watched a History Channel special the other night on the bubonic plague. Watching how people reacted to the disease actually made me angry. Prayers, flagellation, etc. All the prayers in the world from the most pious people in history didn't stop 100 million people from dying a horrible, painful, and almost immediate death. Why? Because the belief in the supernatural and divine intervention is bullshit. If those people only knew that instead of praying and beating the hell out of themselves, they should have been boiling their clothes, washing their hands, and cleaning their homes, they could have been better off. We know better now. Science has answered these questions for us, and we need to move beyond our former ignorance. posted 04/16/2008 at 09:47:49

Atheists DO know the power of manipulation! That is why we reject all the religious BS. We understand that it is ALL pure manipulation. We get it. We do our best to tell the religious that they've been had, but they don't seem to be able to break the "god trance" they walk around in. Granted, it does take a special person to be strong enough to reject it and read through the lies, but I don't feel sorry for any adult who happens to fall for it. The only ones who deserve my pity are the CHILDREN who are brainwashed from the time they are born to believe in the ridiculous and live in complete fear if they don't. The children I feel sorry for, the adults have only themselve to blame. Sorry. posted 04/15/2008 at 17:18:41
How does an adult let another adult LOCK him in a room? Did they use force? Did they tie him up? Did they beat him into submission? Ridiculous. posted 04/15/2008 at 17:11:10
Ummm, sorry, but ALL religion is ridiculous. They are all looney --talking freakin' snakes, burning in fire for eternity for making stupid human mistakes, angels, the devil, immaculate conceptions, virgin births, UGH. Please. It's all so stupid as to be comical. ALL religions have done nothing but use brainwashing tactics (i.e. fear and repetition) to keep their followers slaves to their own stupidity. Catholicism is no different than Scientology when it comes to which is more ridiculous or more dangerous. posted 04/15/2008 at 14:30:49
Oh puuuhhhlllleeezzee! In a situation like this, one ALLOWS themselves to be brainwashed, and therefore you're right- I DON'T know about mental manipulation. I have enough sense to know when I'm being conned by "religious" nutcases. This guy went into Scietology willingly. He obviously was missing something in his life and thought Scientology might have the answer. However, after the first time they requested money, he should have had enough sense to realize it was a scam. Also, comparing Scientology with Hitler is ridiculous. Hitler had an army behind him as well as a scapegoat to blame. Scientology has NOTHING. You can walk out the door at ANY time. I do not feel sorry for people who are so weak that it takes them 14 years to realize they've been conned by a church. Just having the name "CHURCH" of Scientology should have been a tipoff. I'm glad he's finally getting his act together, and I wish him luck, but he cannot expect anyone to feel sorry for him for falling for a religious scam. If people haven't realized that ALL religion is a scam by now, there is not much we rational people can do to help them out. posted 04/15/2008 at 14:12:13
DUH. What a freakin' moron this guy is. It took him 14 years to find out that his religion is a racket? I figured that out at about the age of 6.
