Mike Barnicle At Tim Russert Memorial (VIDEO)

Mike Barnacle's speech was gentle genius.

His was lofty, yet grounded.

Sentimental and sensible.

It was grande and intimate.

It was heartwrought and heartfelt.

The writing was sublime, visual, easy and elegant.

Because Mike is less a media figure than some of the others at the memorial for Tim Russert,
he may have received less attention for his eulogy of sorts.

Even if someone came down from Mars, a critter that never heard of Tim Russert, if they heard Mike Barnacle's address, they would have known that someone magnificent and irreplaceable had passed from the scene.

Mike B. deserve kudos, condolences for his friend Tim and for Mike's dog. What a double whammy.

May Mike learn from Tim Russert not to burn his candle ...or it can go out.

God Bless Mike, and his gifts of love, laughter and connection. posted 06/25/2008 at 00:19:15

James Carville, Mary Matalin Break Down On Set Over Tim Russert's Death

Tim Russert taught us all yet another lesson.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

Who among us believed that we would see Carville and Maitlin that openly
emotional and open, not only with their comments about their departed friend, Tim Russert, but with each other.

Holding hands?

Perhaps a tough hide protects a soft heart.

Or was it just that this loss has kicked so many people in the gut that it is beyond decorum, spin or any other device of talk.

Remember Meet the Press, NBC and James and Mary had to agree to print this photo. They all had to put their own pride aside and give Tim an unabashed moment of unrelenting sorrow.

I share in the mourning and know that this place will never be inhabited by the likes of Timothy J. posted 06/17/2008 at 22:37:09

How Obama Can Win Over Seniors and Turn the November Election Into a Democratic Landslide

What IS this. Barack and Hillary tepid, mediocre coming out party?

It is so underwhelming. Not sure if this is a first step of many, but if this is considered a big step, it is a baby step, at best.

This country is not buying a photo op as true Unity.

But, if it is a start up to something real, then ..let it begin.

Not sure why the Patti Solis Doyle appointment had to be announced prior to the actual Unity, is a political conundrum.

Maybe it was a way to end the Hillary based end of Primary and not let the chatter of the Clinton veepstakes drown out the shout out that this Party is moving into the future, with or without.

We shall see what this "second date" yields. posted 06/17/2008 at 22:15:36

When Bill Clinton Met Mayhill Fowler on the Rope Line

Stop making it worse, Jay.

She is a tabloid journalist, a sensationalist hack.

We have Tim Russert who never would do what Mayhill has repeatedly done.

Talent. It takes talent to just tell the story straight up.

Either Huffington Post sanctions this kind of gotcha garbage, or they don't.

There is no misunderstanding here. We all get it.

It is about legitimacy. It is about integrity.

Either Huffington Post will rise to its best self or sink with the likes of Mayhill Flower.

There IS no middle road on quality, Jay, and you know it. You know it. posted 06/13/2008 at 22:43:03

Jason Furman And Barack Obama

No matter WHAT the story here in Huffington, when I hear the BITTER comments out on the campaign trail used against Barack Obama, I think of Mayhill and the travesty her unprofessional reporting represents.

Yes, Obama said what he said, so no one blames Mayhill for the comments. BUT, the proforma
for real, respectable reporters is to inform the person who will be quoted that there remarks are on tape and will be used and allow them to comment.

Mayhill did not give this courtesy to Barack Obama. And that major mistake, by intention, not by mistake, will, in many voters estimation, count Mayhill out as anyone to be taken seriously.

There are some things that cannot be undone.

Her stealth reporting may have undone Obama, and that, is NOT her job to do.

Everytime I see something she has written, I will represent the hundreds of voters with whom I collaborate to remind the larger public who Mayhill is and what she has done in the name of
careerism.

Is there no standards for employing a, so called, journalist? posted 06/13/2008 at 15:25:45

Obama's VP List: MSNBC Gathers Names

A outside the box guess...maybe a wish from an Obama supporter?

CHUCK HEGEL, CHUCK HEGEL AND CHUCK HEGEL.

Stranger things could happen, but maybe nothing better.

Think about it.

Republican and Democrat
War hero, and political hero
Right and Left
Black and White
Two unexpecteds
Long experience and proven judgment
Political shock and awe amidst

Unity, Unity, Unity and more Unity.

Only Obama could do this, unless McCain chooses Lieberman, but they are both Republicans no matter the Lieberman seating in the Senate. Lieberman with Gore AND with McCain!!!
Zero credibility for Joe and
Joe.... we hardly knew ya. posted 06/17/2008 at 22:44:39

Does anyone know why BILL RICHARDSON is rarely on the short list? We all heard some skirt chasing rumors, but other than that the guy has:

foreign policy expertise
energy background
governor, an executive of a State
negotiator overseas
United Nations stint

SO WHERE'S the SMOKING GUN IF THERE IS ONE?

Oh, Huffington Posters..please enlighten if you can. Maybe he is not on the short or long list that is publicized because Richardson IS the pick.

Any thouhts?

Hillary Loses Again

Hillary Clinton talked about assassinations in June, shouts SHAME ON YOU, lies about Bosinia, insinuated Obama's win was like Jesse Jacksons, implied Obama might be Muslim, used a photo of Bin Laden to make her case in an ad, stated only she could win Hard Working Whites (!), that she passed the Commander in Chief test (whatever that is),as did McCain but Obama didn't.

Don't cry for me Argentina.

I honor the writer for his tears.

BUT to make her into a saint for finally endorsing Obama,he IS the winner, after all, is silly.

When the count was in Tuesday night ,McCauliffe announced Hillary as "next president of the United States, and then she boldly refused to end the Primary. All THAT IS TO BE REMEMBERED TOO.

The first African American to be nominated and Hillary Clinton stepped all over history, trying to catch the light. That she did. However, she is not to be congratulated for such a blunder.

Hillary is to be lauded for her speech on Saturday .However, it was days late, a 360 change from Tuesday, was forced by her own supporters to do so, and SHE HAS NOT RELEASED HER DELEGATES.

So, let's dry all our tears. Save them for America if John McCain is elected.

Like Evita, it is time for Hillary to really raise her arms for the country, not her own interests.
It will be interesting to see if her second act is better than her first act. posted 06/10/2008 at 23:39:32

Metanarratives and Hillary's Honesty Gap

THIS IS A PATTERN OF LYING by BOTH CLINTONS.
Hillary wants to change subject back to Wright due to her own wrongdoing.

She can't win on the issues NOR on experience. She degrades Obama about
his pastor as if Wright's words were Obama's.She lies on her foreign policy prowess of which there is NONE.

If Hillary lies about being under sniper fire,.how can she be trusted?

There should be a microscope on a pattern of lies ie NAFTA, a fairy tale that she had anything to do w/ North Ireland peace, S-CHIP. NO red phone moment existed. She had NO security clearance.

Hillary wants the subject to turn back to Wright's comments because she has neither the experience nor the integrity to win any other way.

If Obama is responsible for his choice to stay in a church, Hillary should be responsible for staying in her embarassing & opportunistic marriage. No one will make this comparison due to fear of the female factor.

GUILT by ASSOCIATION is a dangerous game for Hillary , unless the PRESS REMAINS ASLEEP@ THE SWITCH.
She wants all the credit of being first lady ,but no examination of her real motives in staying w/Bill post IMPEACHMENT.

Maybe both Obama & Clinton chose to keep problematic ties for reasons other than moral.

While the red phone rang, Bill was having sex in the White House, while Hillary "slept".Did she stay for a run for president as a victim?.
Talk about pieces of silver. posted 03/25/2008 at 16:07:12

Obama Endorsed By Bill Richardson

Today, long overdue, we saw the next President and Vice President of these United States.

Hillary and all the bile based trashing of Senator Obama could not undo the will or the soul of
we, the people.

It is a courageous step taken by Bill Richardson. To endorse through his integrity and not through his political past.

This opens the door for Edwards, but he has waited too long so as to appear more interested in being
on what is perceived as the winning side rather than on the side of his core values.

Richardson should be the Obama VP pick, and maybe this has already happened. One can only HOPE.

Barack Obama has withstood the kind of leadership test, these few weeks, that has allowed all of us, even the Cintons, to view his grace under pressure, nuanced judgement, and a willingness to step into the hot light of focus, even when it is harsh.

Hillary can stay in the race for as long as her hubris can last...but, at last, the finish line is in view, and that picture was sharpened today with this key superdelegate endorsement by Governor Richardson.

And, by the way, it is no shame that the personalities and abilities to connect with people on their own turf and terms are so strong in both Obama and Clinton.

The page has now been turned.

Out of the dark of this...we witness the resurrection of a candidacy that has been, in fact, crucified by the powers that believe their superiority.

Not for a minute am I comparing Barack Obama to any deity. I am pointing out the irony of the time, and how much renewal this country needs.

Oh ye of little faith ....YES WE CAN is still alive and very well, very well, in word and deed. posted 03/21/2008 at 17:45:22
