McCain and Me: Hero Worship Dies Hard (But When It Does...)

just a quick line or two to express the appreciation for this site...the rare truth, and ability to state the clear facts in an objective manner is much needed in this country, no?
obama'08 posted 05/07/2008 at 14:25:12
not so much his age, cause he really is a spry one, but that temper (PTSD) could spell trouble at those negotiating tables with those hard core leaders, that dont have much patience themselves, no? POW's have paid their dues for sure, no doubt about that...but should they be allowed to run a country, expecially a country that has these serious, urgent, and pending issues? obama'08 posted 05/07/2008 at 14:23:11

what you need to take note of (close note) is who is initiating, and who is simply responding. who's style is characterized and defined by their actions, and who's is characterized by fair and truthful accounting of facts! why have mccain and hillary both seemed to be on the same page as to this "vacation on fuel tax"? maybe because they both have been steeped in dirty, business as usual, and current whitehouse politics, way too long? maybe if obama was used to fighting in the 20th century style politics, he would need to believe in the other candidates tactics and strategies. i believe that since he is of the 21st century mindset, he believes in a better way! a way that moves us, the country, and in fact the world away from so much unnecessary darkness. we all know there will always be those undemocratic personalities we will be up against, but if we have someone like barack who can unite us, we will have the strength strategy, instead of the strategy that GW used in his taking us into war in the middle east. maybe if he had done the hard work of uniting the world in his goals, we would have been in a better position to see what our diplomatic move needed to be. dont forget those lobby and special interest groups tho, the more you owe them, the less power you have to take care of the real problems of the american people. obama'08 posted 05/07/2008 at 14:16:50

Evil and the Addiction to Pain (Part 1)

i agree that war is an addiction, such as the addiction to oil, and the addiction to the listed concepts, we all have the potential for them all. to what degree we wish to engage in these willingly or passively, depends on many factors, probably too many to clearly understand each and every person's motivation to stay in self destruct mode. my prayers are for peace, harmony, and happiness to all, so as to experience all the potential joy....

John Gibson Mocks Rachel Maddow's Sexuality: "Ooh, Lesbians! Yummy!"

unfortunately he is a reflection of the leadership that has literally taken down the united states in two terms. this is what they do best. they cannot allow for any opposition, and weak cheap shots are much the brush they color themselves with. not informative, intelligent, or character driven people....so i don't allow them any of my valuable time. racism, bigotry, and hate live in the hearts of people as long as we do not denounce these types of reflections or projections. let's move on, turn the page, and nudge these haters into reporting as journalists and not arrogant, jealous, infants. the man operates from a dark place, and our country deserves better. posted 05/03/2008 at 13:16:19

Shameful Days: Why Won't The Media Pursue the Pentagon Propaganda Scandal?

why would anyone who has lived through these last two terms, accept any leader that could not recognize, that turning the page on these tactics or strategies and instilling a vision, steeped in diplomacy first , not war, take care of our economy and foreign policy, our constitutional rights...stand by international agreements in regards to torture, or don't make the agreement, not giving us a vacation a a gas tax at the expense of our infrastructure, etc. the clinton's will stop at NOTHING to get elected, but they don't have much to wrk with, since their opponent has a style unlike most politicians. (he actually speaks truth) john mccain, covers his uncontrollable temper well, but he suffers from PTSD, after 6 years as a POW, and who could blame him. would he represent us patiently, and diplomatically at the world negotiating tables....chances are his past will play a part. he favors war because that is his experience, but being that the future of the american people needs to look like the 21st century and not more of the same, we need real change of leadership. obama'08 posted 05/03/2008 at 12:59:12
who's conning who, is not what is troubling...if that's the game, then eventually everyone will indulge. the problem is it is ruining our country. we have a figurehead for a president, and his policy creators have lobby groups $ to atone for. in other words, whether we like it or not...the decisions were made about war long before we or anyone else, press or national media had any chance of intervening. in my humble opinion, our only chance is to choose a leader not steeped in these destructive tactics and strategies. altho hillary and john mccain have given many years of service to our country and it's people, their ties will not allow them to make the necessary changes. that's why you do not hear them talk about the actual specific changes, so as to create a vision for the american people, that they can support and get on board with. obama'08 posted 05/03/2008 at 12:46:17

Clinton Backer "Organized" Wright's Press Club Event

my vote is and always will be for barack obama's brand of politics, because it's the one i can wrap my heart and mind around. the clinton and mccain brand is so steeped in "business as usual" with their backers being of the same ilk as the present administration. the chance for america to recover from the last 7+ years is with honesty and vision for peace and prosperity for ALL! any other agenda will take us further down the path, maybe this time of no return. check history folks. fascism and communism are powerful aphrodesiacs and no one has been able to stop that train once it takes hold, short of much death and destruction, in fact war! how soon we forget, that when a government decides to take basic freedoms allowed by their constitutional rights under no other authority than their own power, where have the checks and balances gone? will we be willing to fight for those rights to be restored, or will we choose to be blinded by the smoke and mirrors of the political show of the greedy, power trippers and war mongers?

Probing a Political Paradox: Why the Discredited Right Still Sets the Agenda and Dominates the Debate

looking forward to the new book...i also have an observation, one i have gathered in this primaries race. back in the 90's when the clintons were experiencing early and genuine success in the growth and status of our country. the peace and prosperity was real. the republicans were threatened, and took to searching for any and every possibility of trashing the balanced budget, and the heightened spirit of the american people. the clintons being the savvy politicians (many have said bill to be one of the most brilliant politicians of our time) learned from their enemies, and unfortunately are now using those "kill a public figure" skills against their opponent barack obama. barack saw this before he entered into this race, so i still put my money on him and his brand, because that is the one that the american people can wrap their hearts and minds around, the one they need. after these last 7+ years, we all know that we MUST move as far away from "politics and washington as usual" as reason will allow. some are now concerned about the issues and mud the republicans will bring, but the thousands of newly signed voters, shows that we as a people are no longer willing to stand by and allow corruption and greed undermine and erode our freedoms and prosperities for ALL !

When You're Wright, You're Right

right or wrong, he is wrong for this latest upstart. he has his values and his faith, and understands the black experience in america. why would he threaten the chances of a man of color to achieve a bench mark milestone, which could transcend the cause...that we all need to be able to move on with? rev wright is i'm sure all of those lofty and prestigious adjectives you expressed early in this commentary, but humble he is not! and his need for the spotlight, is timed perfectly to do damage. these men are not pitted against eachother any more than hillary and barack are, but at least hillary is in this primary race. rev wright, needs to be setting an example much as barack has so wisely chosen to do. he does not need to try and work out his personal grievences at this time in this way when what is at stake is the much larger goal of having a democratic candidate strong enough to defeat mccain. this country cannot take another 4 years of the same insanity, war, corruption of our own govt., and deliberate deception. we have lost constitutional rights, we have lost our good standing with our international neighbors, and we have lost the faith of the people of america. do we not need at some point , to restore some of what the last 7+ years has lost us? resolve differences yes, but privately, not in front of the national media, no? posted 04/30/2008 at 17:58:17

very well said, and unfortunately we have to really research these days to find good journalists. if we do not practice sound judgement as to who is consistently fair and objective, we are simply looking for what we are comfortable with, who calms our manufactured fears, and generally who has the power or $$ behind them to twist the truth until it is unrecognizable. on the other side of that coin tho, we have conscientious, knowledgeable, character driven, truth based, journalism out there who is willing to dispel the deliberate deceptions! thank God for living in a free country, with unalienable rights....

The Wrong Playbook

i cannot imagine a worse scenario than a mc bush administration for another four years, after the damage, trauma, scars, and corruption of the previous 7+ years. i believe sen. clinton would be in line with much of the bush policy and spending, and the only concepts brought forth that move us away from that government (the govt. that has proven itself not to be effective, but for a small 1 or 2% of our countries people). not acceptable. we need and deserve leadership like barack obama, and his ability to unite and not continue to divide as the "business as usual" crowd promises. let's make a change for the better! let's not allow our foolish choices of the past two terms to follow us into the futures of our children and grandchildren.

Happiness: Should You Have Goals Or Resolutions?

there is simply nothing more empowering than to totally realize that our moods and general outlook on life and the cards we were dealt, is all CHOICE. we really have not much control over much else ultimately, and at the end of the day, why give our power away to anyone or anything else? if we aren't born with the natural ability to wake up happy, we can change that! it's just practice and is kinda fun at that. every time you catch yourself thinking unhappily, smile and check out the feeling that will take over. if you really pay attention, it's an internal as well as external phenomenon ;=) posted 04/12/2008 at 23:12:46

these allegations of abuse, could have been handled with out the request of 1.5 million. when you talk about $$ in amounts that defy the common care takers usual expectation of pay for legitimate work, you conjure up many questions, which at this point are dubious at best. is this young woman claiming inappropriate advances and if so to what degree? she needs to use much discretion no matter whom she is accusing, unless she has been advised that bringing attention to these claims would benefit her.
life is short, to spend it in litigation of these terms, if they are not legitimate, is such poor use of the time we have on this earth to accomplish such worthy goals...(in my humble opinion) posted 04/08/2008 at 16:14:16

It's Not Weightism. You're Just Obese.

you would concede tho john, that the feeling of discrimination is one that is felt in the heart, which we all possess, whether our skin is of the mainstream color, or our religion is of the mainstream accepted brand, or whether we are the correct perceived gender for the occasion? hurt is felt in the heart...to say that any one's pain is greater, well i could argue that point.
i would concede that the deeper points regarding the issues of racism, and genderism, etc. could make one wish for discrimination for another reason than their own plight.
i have however read of reports of a fat kid being physically and emotionally abused and then sentenced to death by a jury of their cruel peers, JUST FOR BEING obese. we are not born with tolerance. we must be taught the concept from a place that is sure that discrimination for any reason, does not HELP anyone. i believe that comparing reasons for discrimination only belabors the more important point, of helping others to practice tolerance instead. PEACE-OUT!

Who Can Beat McCain?

there is no doubt in my mind and heart that the ability of barack to unite and bring about the real change in terms of changing how our government works, how our foreign policy diplomacy would improve and how the american people would rally and step up. in my humble opinion that sets him far above either hillary or john mc cain. as far as his ability to win the general election, time is on his side. the longer the american people get to familiarize themselves with his leadership qualities and content of character along with the fresh vision and a history NOT steeped in politics as usual, the easier it will be to make the choice for a country with a bright future, and hopeful inspired spirits.

Patriotism in the Kingian Tradition

i am not troubled in any way by rev. wright's comments in any of his sermons. i understand that they are from a man who loves god, and in that light it makes it very easy to break those words of his down and put them in the proper context. after reading just about every word about sen barack obama and what has been very self efacing about in his early days, the fact that the reverend was able to pull barack into the church and begin the spiritual journey of a man that not only will in turn share that journey with his own, but he will share it with all those who have faith in his own message.
having said that , i also realize where the mainstream in this country is in regard to such issues, and i both admire and am greatful for the tolerance that we have acquired. i believe also that if we dare to follow the guidance of the speach barack made regarding all of this, we will further transcend and turn the page on the history that has been endured. we are moving towards enlightenment, and we truly are more alike than we are different, but i know that humans are not born with tolerance, so to teach these valuable character traits, we must have leaders that encourage and empower us to dare to go there. posted 04/05/2008 at 22:47:16

Democrats Implement Two-Pronged Attack On John McCain

i am a registered democrat who believes much like the candidate barack obama...we absolutely need to reach across the aisle on these urgent issues, to include solutions that encompass any and all expertise and pertinent experience. our issues cannot be ignored due to partisan conflict. this would be much like a dysfunctional mom and dad, refusing to address the development issues of their teen, and allowing that poor abandoned teen to be ignored and fall possibly into deep trouble fending for themselves. if a man can unite diverse races in these days and times, their chances are very good if not excellent that foreign affairs would be successful! no one else is even looking to a vision that includes our children's and grand children's future in a real way, except barack. mc cain is highly respected by all for his military record, but is not good presidential material for the type of leadership we will need to heal the wounds in the middle east, and move on to a more global focus. hillary is a good person, her public service record speaks for itself. her chances of having even the wonderful success that bill brought in the 90's are slim to non! she simply is not bill, she is not a visionary...she has limited proven success in uniting - peace obama '08 posted 03/28/2008 at 14:21:48

i was so wishing the obama camp would earn the endorsement of bill richardson, and i believe it should in no way effect the status of the friendship. bill richardson has more clout and experience at foreign affairs, running a state, finances, and is highly naturally skilled at diplomacy. he agonized over his decision which speaks volumes, and(bill clinton's visit to watch the super bowl didn't make that decision any easier). i was so endeared regarding his debate story about obama's having allowed bill richardson to save face when asked about katrina, and in a presidential race that also speaks volumes. if obama wasn't running, i would have voted for bill richardson, and if obama didn't choose bloomberg, i would like a barack/bill richardson ticket!!!
