If there ever was a flip flop you have to make, it is a NO vote on FISA. Your argument about the safety of the nation notwithstanding, upholding and defending the Constitution is JOB ONE for the president or any other public official. Aside from the immunity issue, there are other aspects of the FISA compromise bill that don't pass Constitutional muster. A conversation with the likes of Sen. Feingold may convince you of the shortcomings. We can have a surveillance process that does not compromise our Constitution. Stop with the BS. Corporations or any "small business" is taxed on net profits. Wages (high or low) and benefits are deductions on a business tax return and therefore not subject to income taxes. Another thing, businesses do not exist to create jobs. A business hires employees because they profit off the labor of its employees. As long as there is a buck to be made off the labor of hirees, there will be hirees. The business of business is to create and sell products. Taxing the excessive profits gives the oil companies a choice: 1) lower the price of gas and lower the windfall profits to avoid the windfall profits tax, or 2) invest the excess profits in developing alternative energy resources and avoid the windfall profits tax.
