Obama And McCain Open To Unmoderated Debates Across Country

All ABSOLUTELY valid points made without mentioning diapers.

My only point is that there is a line that needn't be crossed here.

Considering McCain's service, I believe there's a line that SHOULDN'T be crossed.

For example, W: Fair game. All of it. That man is a silver spooned idiot and if someone told me he crapped his pants and gave the turd a name I wouldn't bat an eye.

I understand we may disagree on this point. I absolutely understand and hopefully none of this is taken personally. posted 05/11/2008 at 03:13:04
Simply, McCain spent 5 years in a POW camp for our country and was tortured. To the best of my knowledge this is not a disputed point.

I don't think this give McCain a free pass for his political views BY ANY MEANS, but I think he deserves more than diaper jokes.

I truly believe we can speak higher than the bar the GOP has set and be heard - if we crawl into the mud, we have an easier chance of losing.

I'm a 100% Obama supporter and I loathe the idea of McCain as President but - and I don't mean to attack you personally by any means - but this kind of thing seems really rude to me.

McCain has a long service to our country in the military and the Senate. He was (and of course his campaign will constantly remind you) a POW.

I couldn't agree more. posted 05/10/2008 at 00:05:19

Obama would be foolish to bring Clinton onto the ticket:

1. Hillary Clinton's scandals were handled with kid gloves by Obama. The GOP wouldn't let "mis-speaks" and the "Penn/Columbia - Bill/Columbia" ties simply disappear.

2. Clinton wouldn't be able to escape similarities with McCain and the GOP ("How Senator Obama can oppose a gas tax relief when his own running mate supports it....blah, blah, blah." "His own running mate voted for the Iraq war!")

3. It's obvious Bill doesn't like being in the background and he is far too much of a loose cannon these days.

4. Obama has been running on change - an Obama/Clinton ticket is too easily thrown back into his face by the GOP.

5. Any mud Clinton slung at Obama (the elitism charge for example) is more easily brushed off without her on the ticket - Obama can outright claim that "The American people dismissed these labels...." and not have to simultaneously defend her.

And personally, I believe the Clinton supporters who would abandon the Democratic party are easily outnumbered by the new independent and GOP cross overs who loathe Clinton.

I could be wrong, but I think Clinton's Dem ship jumpers are vocal but (ultimately) by voting day would be a very tiny group. posted 05/09/2008 at 23:32:29

You still don't get it.

You believe Obama "meant" no disrespect, just as Clinton "meant" no disrespect with her LBJ comments.

The great difference is that while Obama supporters may have unfairly attacked Hillary for LBJ, it is HILLARY CLINTON herself unfairly attacking Obama (per your rationale).

I think it's to be expected that there are angry supporters on either side that can take something and run into the unfair territory.

However, when a candidate tries to create a campaign slogan around it (I'M NOT BITTER!) it becomes disgusting. posted 04/14/2008 at 17:49:39

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/04/13/BA161046G7.DTL&tsp=1

While I still don't believe what Obama said was derogatory, I believe he chose his words based on the audience before him.

Knowing you're speaking before a larger audience, I believe he would have chosen his words better to describe the same situation.

I think putting this tape out there was a 'gotcha' moment for poorly chosen words to a small audience that is too easily exploited.

And no, I truly don't believe this type of reporting is fair to ANY candidate.

As for HuffPo and it's reporting, - what if Hillary is just the more flawed candidate? Why is it HuffPo's responsibility to fabricate or create controversy in the Obama campaign where there is none?

And when there has been... the Wright controversy wasn't kept of these pages by any means. posted 04/14/2008 at 14:01:58

Obama Uses The "R" Word, Clinton Doesn't

"Presidents have to do more than announce principles," said Clinton campaign policy director Neera Tanden, in a memo. "They have to solve problems. At a time of crisis in our financial markets, Sen. Obama announced a series of broad, vague principles, while offering no new concrete solutions to provide Americans with greater confidence in the market or keep them in their homes."

.

You mean candidates have to have actions that accompany their words?

Such as "I dodged sniper fire?"

You might want to turn right around and deliver that little tidbit to your own candidate, Tanden. posted 03/27/2008 at 21:47:52

Reuters: "Somebody Forgot To Tell Hillary Clinton The Democratic Presidential Race Is Over And Barack Obama Won"

Just an opinion but....

I think the Dems are starting to realize she's (by far) the weakest of the two candidates and Obama has much more to offer for the future of this party.

That being said, she won't just go away quietly, so I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing a steady stream of contradictory 'misstatements' cropping up from Hilary's past.

I believe Pandora's Box is about to be opened, and Hilary has no one to blame but herself. posted 03/27/2008 at 16:04:36

Bill Clinton To Obama Campaign: "Let's Just Saddle Up And Have An Argument"

Believe me, that's what makes this Hilary campaign all the more disheartening.

I think 90% of the Obama supporters here whole heartedly stood by Bill.

And what we're witnessing now is the painful dismantling, not only of the Hilary campaign but Bill's legacy. posted 03/26/2008 at 17:11:00

Smears and Tears: How Obama's National Security Week Turned Into the Mendacity of Hype

Obama 'smears' Hilary with her Bosnia "misstatements" in order to brush aside Wright crticism?

I seem to remember Obama addressing Wright HEAD ON while Hilary (caught in a situation of her own doing) simply replies, "I'm human." I also seem to remember it was CBS dipping into their own archive footage that caught Hilary in her 'misstatement.

So now the great 'right wing conspiracy' against Clinton is suddenly personified solely by the Obama campaign?

I greatly respect Wilson, but I'm disappointed to see he's become another bllnd mouth piece for the Clinton campaign. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:05:04

AP: Why Wasn't The Truth Good Enough For Hillary?

So Obama weathered his "wright" storm and managed to shape the sh-t flung at him and turn it into one of the greatest speeches in modern politics.

What does the 'vetted' Hilary do?

"I misspoke."

THIS is the seasoned candidate to put up against McCain? posted 03/26/2008 at 00:49:42

Hillary: That "I'm Human" Is A Revelation To Some People

I see this as a moment of truth for Clinton supporters.

Either you see this as the blatant lie it is or recognize your role as blind apologist for Hilary.

I truly hope Craig considers leaving the closet as well as the Senate - poor old guy must be miserable.

HE'S BACK: Bill Clinton's Campaign Remarks

I used to respect you so much, Bill.

I find it interesting your own wife does more to tarnish your reputation than your mistress.
