Pelosi Wants Bush To Release Some Oil From Strategic Reserves

I think the Dem's strongest point is the Cheney SECRET Energy Policy. It was and is so secret that even the people who were in the room when it was made have not yet been identified.

I think the policy was to cause as much uncertainty in the oil markets as possible to drive the price as high as possible so that the people in the room could collect billions of dollars without pumping more oil. It was also probably about attacking and occupying Iraq to gain control of their oil so that the US could remain dependent on foreign oil by securing some supply against the competing interests of the growing Chinese and Indian markets. The third leg of the policy stool was to push the American Public's hot button oil price pain long enough to get them to capitulate to off shore and ANWR drilling.

Note that the policy was not to provide tax incentives for alternative energy source development, but to curtail it so that it could not interfere with any of the plan.

I would say it has worked out rather well for them, wouldn't you?

PT Barnum may have already said it, so I don't have to. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There's_a_sucker_born_every_minute

The cost of gas is directly related to the bellicose posturing and wars this administration started and expanded and stayed the course on and continues to threaten more of. I could not believe The People would suck up another huge lie like this. But then here you are, Unbiased, already predetermined to believe that the Democrat Congress is at fault. Bill O'Reilly Takes On New York Times, Cries Foul

Agreed. Pretending a photo is a representation of the actual individual you are "reporting on" or otherwise characterizing is far different from putting up a cartoon figure of someone you are lampooning. The first is unfair because it presents as true a false photograph, and the second is fair because it presents as slanted a slanted view.

That O'Reiley's audience cannot tell the difference is the value proposition he brings to FOX. Eyeballs of the credulous... Fox's lifeblood and the lifeblood of the Vampire Administration and all its enablers and hangers-on.

Will financial ruin brought on by these vampires educate the credulous into becoming discriminating and intelligent? We hope so because that is what they are in for. But I see no reason to hope. Squeezed Dry

If oil stays high for a few years, there will be very quick change. I think however that Iraqi oil will be flowing at 500K barrels/day above current levels by September/October, and other sources will be brought on stream. Don't forget the Administration can release the SPR any time they feel like it. They want to keep us hooked on oil. Take our money, make us poor, but keep us addicted.

And, the technology of remote conferencing, if we build out better infrastructure, can replace much although not all business meeting travel. Better knowledge of resources allows for more local substitution against products shipped from great distances. Build out of alternative energy infrastructure can replace non-transport related uses of energy if allowed time to mature. The key to keeping us hooked on oil is to put off the day or reckoning as long as possible. Our leadership is working very hard to do that. We should make them and their enablers pay for this crime against the future generations. The market can't do that by itself. posted 07/03/2008 at 07:18:04

Not the US ruling elites, ALL ruling elites. House of Saud is clearly complicit. Bin Laden is too, actually. There are a few men/women who can move the public to action with their words, but most of them are assassinated when their words begin challenge the power structure.

The French revolution was contagious throughout Europe and for the same reason. The governed got disrespect until it nearly killed them and destroyed their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. I agree with BBackSoon too.

Nevertheless you make a good point. GWB warned us. "Fool me once, shame on me, Fool me twice, er, can't get fooled again." We didn't listen and now we're hosed. The American public shares responsibility, but like the tiger in it's cage or the human batteries in the Matrix, there's not very much they can do while they have the proper blinders/restraints on.

It seems like an undeclared world war for oil that we are in the midst of. Elites on various sides want to control it. The American public has been counted upon to keep paying the price to maintain the structure. That reliance is likely to break down, until we get the Iraqi oil on stream just prior to our election. posted 07/02/2008 at 17:59:11

Robert, I think there's more to it than that. I think this is a war over oil very much like the one that got Japan into WWII. The ruling elite in this country, as distinguished from the academic or Hollywood elite by the value of their property holdings, are afraid to allow anything to change their cozy nest arrangements. Alternative energy solutions would do that with new auto companies, new types of supply, arrangements for small producers (individual families with photovoltaics and windmills etc) to profit from supplying the grid, public transportation, proper food labeling, and so many other things revalue their holdings in ways that frighten them. So they want to hold on and prevent that and that leads to war. A war to stay the course. It's not just the stockholders of the big oil companies, but many other groups with profit to gain from everlasting war, lack of regulation and lack of environmental stewardship. Selfish and fearful they press the levers of power and influence to which they have access to keep their coffers full. They understand how to manufacture hate and fear and divisiveness, but not how to work with unfamiliar cultures to generate new and better shared world views which allow us all to benefit. Occam's razor is not their tool of choice, but a similarly phrased one which asks, "If I pull this lever will it yield me more money or less." That's what got them and keeps them wealthy. posted 07/02/2008 at 12:43:49

The End of Oil

If all goes according to the Bush plan, oil will be gushing from the Iraqi spigot before November. The occupation of Iraq is just part of the Oil War we are in the midst of. Very clever to have us believe we are fighting for Freedom, or against madmen with WMDs, or whatever the heck else the public will swallow. It's all about oil. Oil companies don't want to wean the US or the rest of the world for that matter off oil. They are a little worried that it won't flow from Iraq fast enough for the election. But they realize that starting a war with Iran will only raise the already too high price... too high because it forces us to look for alternatives and to put into place infrastructure to support the alternatives. So bombing Iran will have to wait for November 4th, or for the next new moon, November 28.

By playing the coming scarcity of oil factoids, we are merely setting ourselves up for a big surprise when 500,000 barrels/day flows out of the Iraqi fields, within the next three months. This will cause the public to refuse to accept the truth of these facts for even longer. Much money is going to be made. Watch for it. It's not weather, it's planetary conditions. Weather happens in a very short time frame. A storm is weather. Planetary pollution, species loss and migration, climate change, etc.; those are planetary conditions. But don't worry, George has a secret energy plan that Cheney and the oil folks worked our for us. It's called WAR, and WE ARE ALREADY IN IT. posted 06/26/2008 at 14:09:18

Bush's Third Term

While what you say is correct General on the facts, the enemy commands the minds of at least 30 per cent of the US voter population. Thus, the fact that McCain was a war prisoner and could fly jets carries more weight than any evidence of his ineptitude or lack of actual policy experience. If you are going to fight this battle, and I am glad that you seem to be committed to it, don't underestimate this factor.

To put this succinctly and clearly as I can, these fools have been accepting the Bush Administration's viewpoint for so long that there will be a very large cognitive dissonance factor to overcome in their minds before they can vote based on the facts that you are talking about. posted 06/25/2008 at 17:16:54

Daniel Yergin, Oil Expert, Doesn't Blame Speculators For Oil Prices

Oil war is occurring under our noses and we don't seem to notice it. Pay no attention to it. It's really all about speculators and cheaters in the markets. Keep shopping. It's your civic duty. posted 06/25/2008 at 19:25:30
Why do we need to have our attention directed away from the ongoing War for Oil? The speculators, closing the Enron Loophole, etc., it's all a side-show to make you look the other way.

The crazy war monger president of Iran, and the irritating Chavez of Venezeula don't help matters either. It does, after all take two to "tango". But I think aggression by this administration has been the leading cause. Whether it is in a cooperative dance with the House of Saud or not may be an open question. Because the Cheney secret energy plan is secret, we will never know the whole truth.

The Nigerian ruling elite failing to do right by its people doesn't help matters either.

What I find hard to believe is that with all the powerful elites trying to pretend that there is no war for oil going on, the MSM is going along with that pretending. Pointing to "speculators" as the root cause of our pricing misery is such an obvious cover story.

The common people don't want this to be a war. I don't, and you don't. We want to negotiate a solution while we fund alternatives. Everyone agrees to this (except our rulers who see money in winning for their side). When will our leaders get the message? Do they really need a repeat of the French Revolution to get their attention and their heads on/off right? posted 06/25/2008 at 19:18:27

Interesting that you mention King George III. The characterization of his views on the American revolution are appaulingly reminiscent of the the views of the current administration towards, well, anyone but themselves: (From WIkipedia)

the King was determined "never to acknowledge the independence of the Americans, and to punish their contumacy by the indefinite prolongation of a war which promised to be eternal."[30] His plan was to keep the 30,000 men garrisoned in New York, Rhode Island, Canada, and Florida; other forces would attack the French and Spanish in the West Indies. To punish the Americans the King planned to destroy their coasting-trade, bombard their ports, sack and burn towns along the coast (like New London, Connecticut), and turn loose the Indians to attack civilians in frontier settlements. These operations, the King felt, would inspire the Loyalists, splinter the Continental Congress, and "keep the rebels harassed, anxious, and poor, until the day when, by a natural and inevitable process, discontent and disappointment were converted into penitence and remorse".

At least we have the comfort of knowing how that worked out for that George. posted 06/25/2008 at 17:37:57

Housing Rescue Bill Passes Key Senate Hurdle

Justice Department Looked For Liberal "Buzz Words" On Resumes

Atheists don't have a Messiah, buddy. And I expect Obama will obey the law when it comes to appointments and filling positions in the DoJ. posted 06/24/2008 at 19:15:11
I forgot about Roberts until you mentioned it. Yeah, it's pretty much impossible given the rot to the core within Congress itself. The best plan may be to pass a special prosecutor law which gives the prosecutor separation from the DoJ to investigate and prosecute, and enough time to span the election. The only thing I can think of wrong with that is it has to get through a veto and if it does, Bush will start WW whatever number we are up to now (IV or V?) to keep the R's in power. Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran? Why wait for the old guy to do it? Like McSame's adviser said, what they really need to win is a terrorist attack on the US, so if that's what they are planning, W can ensure that it happens with a pre-emptive attack on Iran.

Maybe we should just start crying for our children now. posted 06/24/2008 at 19:04:50

James Dobson Accuses Obama Of 'Distorting' Bible

Well, I guess he has good company then, eh Dobson? The Church has been doing it successfully since they grabbed power by codifying a single text into a single Church supporting approved document. Frankly, this appeal of yours is just lame. posted 06/24/2008 at 12:23:14
