If you really wanted to reduce the number of abortions:

1. Full sex ed - not just abstinence education.
2. Make contraception covered under insurance.
3. Universal health care, so mothers can have fully healthy babies.
4. Tax cuts to the middle class and the poor, so they don't have to choose between abortion and food.
5. A living wage (see 4).

Do this, and I can guarantee that the number of abortions will plummet because fewer people will need them. That will do more than simply making abortion illegal. posted 06/26/2008 at 08:00:59

You're totally right - for local constituents to be telling their elected officials they won't vote for them if the will of the voters are not met - that's *totally* the same as telling the House Speaker that superdelegates should be encouraged to vote along the lines of the popular delegate vote.

I mean - the gall of these people, telling their elected officials what they expect them to do! Why, next thing you know, they'll actually be saying they have something called "the vote" and exercising it to elect leaders who act in the way they desire!

Hilary lied. She did it 4 times. An exaggeration would have been OK - "We heard there was sniper fire, so we were worried, and we were rushed."

A misstatement would be OK: "We landed on the ground, and there was this 10 year old girl with a poem. Wait - she was 8? My bad."

However, "We landed and we ducked our heads to run to the cars. There was this ceremony but we skipped it. Maybe I grabbed something from some girl and took off." - that's a lie. There was no ducking of heads (save to get into the car at the end). There was no rushing, there was no bypassing of the ceremony.

Did you read it? It basically says "Look, Hilary lied about Bosnia, and the evidence was shown by video tapes. So did John Kerry. about Vietnam, and the evidence came from men who claimed to have been there. They're both liars."

The problem is - John Kerry didn't lie. He got his purple hearts, was wounded in battle, and saved men's lives. Senator Clinton lied, and was caught on tape about it.

In Kerry's case, you had people who put in documentation at the time saying "Oh, yeah, he totally saved those guys!" - then 40 years later say "Uh, well, I changed my mind." Or these "swift boat vets" *who weren't even there at the time*, making claims of "Well, a guy I heard from who was there said this*.

Nobody "swift boated" Hilary. She made a statement four different times. Then physical, hard, video evidence came out proving she lied.

Kerry told the truth, lived with that truth for 40 years, had and has documented evidence and eye witness testimony of the truth - and was "swift boated" by men who have given contradictory statements.
