Bio
47 year old white male (of Italian American descent), married, college educated - Doctor of Science in Engineering Management, two Masters degrees in Engineering. I started my career with a BSME from General Motors Institute and after working for GM, went on to Ford (both in the '80s). Since my time in the auto industry, having worked through the decades for Proctor and Gamble, Scott Paper/Kimberly-Clark, McNeil Pharmaceuticals, Playtex, Johnson & Johnson, and a host of other major manufacturers and small businesses in every facet of MechE, I've seen manufacturing wither away over the ensuing decades (from 30% of the job market in 1980 to just 9% today) to the point where my duel talents (MechE and IT) separated into just a career in IT at Deloitte for the last 5 years.

I minored in History with an emphasis on US history having been drawn to it since childhood (thanks to two immigrant grandfathers who served this country in WWII). I grew up in a strict conservative environment (strict disciplinarian, yet young parents who were staunch Republicans, Catholic school until college), but developed an open mind once reaching the age of reason at 12. An Eagle Scout, my heroes growing up were Dwight D. Eisenhower (Eisenhower promoted a "Dynamic Conservatism" that prodded voluntary organizations to combat economic and social problems and used the power of the federal government to remedy ills when their resources were insufficient) and Teddy Roosevelt. An ardent supporter of Reagan (including receiving a medal of merit from Reagan for my effort in his campaigns) in the 80's, I continued believing in Republican philosophy through McCain in 2000 ( Unwittingly, I truly believed he was a "maverick" then. If there was even an element of truth to that then, he's a completely different man today). My views were changed (as were Jim Webb's, Kevin Phillips', and Susan Eisenhower's through time) as I traveled, read, researched, learned, and witnessed the truth of what is really happening to this country caused by the power elite in this country. I find myself having been truly reformed and a great admirer of Robert Kennedy, a man who quoted George Bernard Shaw so beautifully, "There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why. I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" A former volunteer site supervisor with Habitat for Humanity, I have witnessed first hand the plight of so many who weren't the "lazy" people from the conservative rhetoric, they were just born into the wrong situation, dealt the wrong hand. I am an idealist at heart, yet I'm grounded knowing and having seen and lived the harsh realities of life.
