US Allies Demand Global Pollution Slashed By 2050

Nuclear energy is CO2 and air pollution free and modern reactors produce waste that can be recycled as it retains over 90 per cent of its energy generating potential.

If you are against nuclear energy for the generation of electricity you are not an environmentalist (or you are someone that just wants to deindustrialize the world.) posted 07/08/2008 at 16:53:17

How McCain and Crist Help Big Oil Change the Subject

Oil companies spend huge amounts of money and apply tremendous expertise to find the oil that we need. Why punish them for doing their job?
If you want lower oil prices, increase the supply.
Using the example of Tunisia that lets companies recover all costs before applying royalties and taxes (Candax, an offshore producer that pulls it out for $10/barrel in exchange for giving its natural gas by product to Tunisia for near nothing, is an example) and in return Tunisia gets jobs, future taxes and royalties, and nat gas by products that fuel their electrical generating stations.

Why does the US not let companies drill offshore in exchange for half of the first 500,000 barrels be sent to the US strategic oil reserve (or an equivalent cash amount)? More supply, lower prices, and more US jobs. posted 07/01/2008 at 08:57:36

Offshore drilling--No! Climate-friendly energy--Yes!

Firstly, it is hard to take your seriously when you don't add CO2 and air pollution free nuclear energy to the list. France gets 80% of its electricity from nuclear, why can't the US; particularly, when a huge majority of the world's uranium is found in the US and Canada.

Secondly, as for offshore drilling, you can go from drill in the water to pumping out oil in less than a year. As I noted before, I own Candax -- a Tunisian producer -- that did just that and is now pulling oil out for $10/barrel (up 20% yesterday on 3 year record volume).

Democrats in Congress do not want to allow the import of oil from Canada's Oil Sands because of concerns of CO2 output involved in the process of extracting the oil (this was actually reported this week) See, whenever you give a Dem a solution they give you a reason not to do it. By the way, the most "environmentally friendly" producer of oil from the Oil Sans is Connacher Oil (CLL.to) and they use steam created from they Nat Gas by-product. My reply:
1) They are not drilling on that land, I suspect, because they believe oil is not under it or it is economical. I own a small Tunisian oil company -- Candax -- that found oil offshore Tunisia and started drilling and extracting oil within one year. Why not let oil companies drill where they are fairly certain (of course, if you don't let then drill who knows) cheap oil can be found.
2) Nuclear energy is CO2 and air pollution free. As for waste, it retains over 90% of its energy generating potential and Israel recycles theirs. The problem with the US is that a new reactor hasn't been built for 30 years so they are using 40 year old technology.
3) I have solar panels on my house (Day4Energy), but they don't work at night or when it is cloudy. You cannot maintain the benefits of industrialization with wind and solar power.
4) Venezuela is actually producing 30% less oil than when Chavez took everything over, despite it being more economical to pump their heavy oil. Governments are not good at finding oil or extracting it. Period.
5) China and India are new "demand" that won't stop the move to industrialization. I don't know about India, but I know China has started to build 40 new reactors it is set to have operational by 2012 -- they are of the modern variety and are expected to produce as much electricity as almost the entire US gets from posted 06/25/2008 at 09:57:05
yes, tax the people that actually find the oil and spend the money to get it out of the ground and into your car. Duh?
What the government should do is make every new barrel of oil produced from domestic sources tax free. That will increase supply and lower prices. posted 06/25/2008 at 09:07:34
Here are your culprits:
1. Democrats and environmentalists that have prevented US drilling and production of oil;
2. Environmentalists that have prevented the installation of new nuclear reactors over the last 20 years;
3. Problems in Nigeria leading to a shortage of sweet crudge (Saudi oil is sour);
4. Nationalization of oil companies in Venezuela resulting in less production;
5. China and India industrializing and buying oil on the margin thereby driving its price up.

Speculators are not on that list because for each speculator going long there is another going short. posted 06/25/2008 at 09:05:18

I own shares in Candax that just started drilling offshore in Tunisia late last year and are now pumping out oil less than a year later at about $10/barrel. If they know where the oil is it can be drilled and pumped in under a year. posted 06/24/2008 at 14:15:27

Impossible: Finding An Expert Who Says McCain's Energy Plan Provides Short-Term Relief

Ahhh, no, stock markets are not pessimistic (maybe optimistic, but definately not pessimistic). They are, in fact, forward looking. What they see is a Democrat Congress and an Obama Presidency and they predict less US production because of Democrat policies and an increased likelihood on oil installations in the mid East. posted 06/24/2008 at 10:29:41
Really, find me a well-informed American making less than the average wage in the US that supports Obama's plan to increase fuel prices by imposing carbon taxes, to increase food prices by continuing to push the folly of corrosive corn ethanol, and to do nothing to allow the US to be both energy independent and industrialized such as would be the case if the US increase its own production of oil and built more nuclear plants. posted 06/24/2008 at 10:27:41

The Real Food Crisis

If you burn corn for fuel you should not be surprised if the price of other food (including corn) goes up because you have taken a large part of it from the market . Simple supply and demand -- someone needs to explain that to Obama. posted 06/24/2008 at 10:44:20
Thank goodness for increased CO2 production that plants are using to grow bigger and faster.

The solution is end the production of ethanol from corn. Do that, and all prices will fall. posted 06/24/2008 at 10:41:04

James Hansen, Top NASA Scientist, Calls For Moratorium On Coal

I think man made global warming is a fraud. Of course, I also recently installed solar panel from Day4Energy (the most efficient on the market) that completely replace my daytime consumption of electricity (with excess sold back to the grid). Guess I only go to jail on weekends. posted 06/23/2008 at 14:27:06
It really is a modern solution for a modern problem. The fact that most so called environmentalists are not behind it with all they have tells me that they are more concerned (or indifferent) about the destruction of industrialization and the removal of its great benefits than anything to do with the environment. posted 06/23/2008 at 14:24:20
I would support that moratorium on coal for electrical generation if it coincided with a push for the nuclear generation of electricity as it is air pollution free (and CO2 free, if you care). In addition, nuclear waste retains over 90% of its electrical generating potential which means Israeli efforts to recycle it will be more practical and common with these high prices. Throw in the fact that a huge majority of the world's uranium is in safe countries of Canada, US, and Australia and it is the source of energy for the future that best matches the needs of industrialization with environmentalism. posted 06/23/2008 at 13:07:09

Summer Recession Tips: Save Money, Stay Cool, Save The Planet (SLIDESHOW)

CO2 is not a "harmful greenhouse gas." It is what plants use to grow and live. Eliminate CO2 and we all starve to deal. Period. posted 06/23/2008 at 08:20:42

Wimbledon Gambling Scandal: Eight Matches Fixed, Dossier Claims

The easiest sport to fix is tennis as you only need to influence one man. The sport MOST subject to fixing is professional and college basketball because if you influence one referee you can actually award points to a team or limit another through fouls and thereby win against the line without anyone knowing. If you bet basketball, bet the referee. posted 06/22/2008 at 21:03:34

Saudi Arabia: We Have Increased Oil Production

The increase demand is on the last barrel and that is why the price goes up. If 11 people want 10 things the price will go up. China and India are the new buyers on the margin.

Stop crying and buy a good, low cost oil company -- my little gem is Candax (cax.to) which pulls oil out of Tunisia for $10/barrel and because of an absence of a Democrat party in Tunisia, Candax is allowed to recover its costs before paying royalties and taxes in exchange for giving Tunisia its natural gas by product to fuel the generation of electricity. WIn/Win. posted 06/23/2008 at 08:01:41
Sorry, you are wrong.
There is enough oil in Canada's Oil Sands to fuel the ENTIRE earth's needs ALONE for 100 years. There will always be oil around, the point is that at a certain price other sources of fuel will be more economical. posted 06/23/2008 at 07:56:05
Ask yourself, why should Saudi Arabia pump more oil (if they don't want to do so) in response to US requests if the US, itself, won't do all that it can to increase its own production? posted 06/23/2008 at 07:55:32

Obama: No Immunity For Telecoms

This Obama is like a Twilight Zone episode.
If he becomes President I expect an enormous terrorist attack on the US within 3 years because Obama will spend the first 2 years taking away all the protections that the US has to stop it. posted 06/22/2008 at 08:50:13

The Ban on Trans Fats in Restaurants: How About a Ban on SuperSize Portions?

Why do you Libs always want to control the behaviour of others.

Supersizing just gives a person more "food" that they want for the dollar. What is wrong with that? You can order a supersize meal and feed two people for a lower cost than buying two regular meals. If YOU don't want to eat that much food, then don't. posted 06/23/2008 at 08:17:56

Terrorists Are a Unique Breed

Actually, it did not work well.
The trial took many years and in the process Bin Laden was not only emboldened by the US's feeble response but information useful to their terrorist efforts passed on to him through disclosures made in court and to counsel.

Put yourself in the shoes of terrorists, would the chance of a criminal prosecution and the chance of jail time stop you? posted 06/23/2008 at 08:06:05
