Well from all the "sweeties" out there, I have worked damn hard to get where I am in life without anyone's assistance and to be referred to as sweetie is about as damn demeaning as calling him "boy". You say I am racist for that, well he is sexist and misogynistic for his "sweetie" crap. So, I am with Erica, here is my Democratic Voter Registration Card, I am over this. posted 05/16/2008 at 14:56:56
You are wasting your breath here. Yesterday, an entire state was trashed for being illiterate, racist, hillbillies and, I believe someone coined the term "Stoopid" (sic). Very few of the posters recognized that WV is a poor state and therefore, one that Dems, true Dems, should embrace. As a state with high poverty levels, they are somewhat oppressed. Surely, some of the posters here could relate to that, but no, the whole state was bashed.
What a shame! Shame on all of you.
Hillary Clinton may not be your choice. Maybe it is Obama, maybe it was Edwards or Kucinich. But, they all deserve our respect and articles like the one above is not bringing the party together and that is what we need. You admire Obama? Then follow his lead. He has taken the high road and commended her on her campaign. Hillary Clinton was our First Lady, is a Senator from a large state and is a democrat with our views. Her views and Obama's are 90% alike.
Don't like that she has not stepped down? Blame the party heads, they set this mess up. Each state should be winner take all. And explain to me how the hell a caucus is democratic? Not her fault, this is how it is done and how it has been done for years.
It will be over soon and time for us to come together, until then, I am unsubscribing to the Huff Post for the vitriole I see here. posted 05/13/2008 at 16:39:56
What a misogynistic statement, "Women are probably the best known for it. Some women alter their personas to attract and keep a man. It is a long standing problem for women." I call bullshit, I am a woman and have dated so damn many chameleon men that I have chosen to opt out of the dating game. You sir, have shown in this one statement why you chose another as your candidate and it is probably because you are insecure with your own masculinity. posted 05/13/2008 at 16:25:45
No, it is not what will happen. Look at the negative remarks. People from Kentucky and W. Va. are racists, idiots, pigs, rednecks and illiterates. Do you think for one moment, after slinging these remarks, that we are going to miraculously come together? NO. I have been called a liar, a racist and everything else simply because I feel Hillary is a better candidate. Nothing against Obama, but I feel she is the most electable. And, I had every intention of voting for whomever wins the nomination. Not, now, I am none of the above, just a democrat who has been ridiculed and demeaned. As such, I am bitter and will now never vote for Obama. Never. posted 05/12/2008 at 15:08:19
You don't get it, on this site, if you don't love Obama, you are racist, redneck, illiterate and every other thing that can be thrown at you. If your state doesn't agree, then, it is the whole state that is bad. Too bad, that the people on here don't understood that these very remarks will cost Obama the election. He will lose because the negative remarks thrown at people, will have have completely turned them away from the party. posted 05/12/2008 at 14:58:32
IS this not more race baiting? Nothing is stated anywhere that she has coined the term, "Vote White". She has simply called the voters what they are and they are white blue collar workers, exactly what MSM called them, as they also stated the African American vote went to Obama. But, this race has always been this way, no matter what is said, it is racist and it is absolutely disgusting. It is like the statement that was made about Dr. King and President Johnson. All that was said was, we needed a President to sign the bill and put it into law. TOTALLY TRUE. Right now, 70% percent of Americans want us out of Iraq, but we have a President who does not listen to his constituency. Without a President who listens to the voice of the people, it does not get signed into law. Of course, without Dr. King and his movement, it would never have gotten to a President and all know that. But that of course was considered racial. posted 05/08/2008 at 12:41:36
The Clintons have never played the race card. NEVER! The MSM has distorted and convoluted every item said, and baited and switched and turned us against each other and it is sickening. I am a Democrat, have been before most of the present voters and posters here were born. I am half native-american and have two African-American grandchildren and one Asian American grandchild. I have never been a racist and never will be, from my family make-up, I know it is there and hate it. But, I have been called a racist more times than I could have ever imagined on these posts. I know what racism is, knew what it was to go see family on reservations, knew what it was when I pushed my grandsons through toys-r-us and saw the looks and honestly, I considered these people to be narrow minded, ignorant people. However, I am finding just as much of it here on the Huffpost as anywhere. We do have to come together and instead of reading this post and seeing it is true, you are still name calling and mudslinging and for that very reason, the dems will lose. How can we mend, when you can't get over your own self-importance and just STFU! posted 05/08/2008 at 12:06:13
Why can't we just agree on one thing and that means we need both of them in the race. Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama. The former makes most sense, since he has so far won. But the truth is we need them both on the ticket. Lets stop the fighting. As I have said many times, I was originally for Obama, but the calls I made to white voters turned my stomach. I have since been for Edwards and then Clinton. I researched Obama and didn't like some things, his present votes and his pushing the wrong button and Wright's statements baffle me. I have left many churches I found offensive. Am I truly satisified with some of Obama's responses to things. NO. But we need unity and we need it now. Four more years of a Republican and we are sunk as a nation. McCain is almost scarier than Bush, if that is possible. DO we want a draft? Its coming with McCain. $8 gas? Economy down the tubes? We have to come together and make the party leaders put them on the same ticket and get together and take back our country. posted 05/08/2008 at 09:35:58
Why does unelectable to you have to mean black? But the answer is, in this case, yes. I hate to say it, but yes. Racism is out there and it is just as prevalent among blacks as it is whites. Look at the vote tallies and you will see it. Over 90% of blacks voted for Obama in NC, are all of these voters on top of the issues? No more than than previous voters who voted for the Bill CLinton because he is southern and so were they, or the Texans that pushed Bush's ass on us. Obama is still a bit of an unknown and Rev. Wright coming out again, when that question had been asked and answered was despicable. But he did it and this time everyone heard it. Obama is still a bit of an unknown,. But these issues have now been raised and there were many white americans who would not vote for him before and now that number has doubled, they just will not vote for him. I originally campaigned for him and heard it loud and clear. I was ashamed of the meanness and vile things voters were saying, but they said it and I had to face that this would end up being about race. It looks like he will be the nominee and I will vote for him. But I see bigots and racists coming out of the woodwork to vote against him and do not see him as being electable. posted 05/08/2008 at 09:21:59
Because this is something he sponsored!!!!!!!!!! This is passing the buck again by Obama. he has done it time and time again. It is like rolling credits, I did not know, yes I did; I will not disown, yes I will; won't work, I did it; only did five hours of work, but he as my friend, does that count? And on and on, but he is the one. Hillary must be held accountable for her mistakes and gaffes, yet you do not hold your own candidate to that set of rules. I will vote for the Democratic nominee, end of discussion. I will not and cannot support McCain. But I would like to Obama supporters, just once say, HMMMMMM.

Maybe most of you are more elitist than the rest. I am from a rural area and .18 cents off the gallon would get more people to work. Would this encourage more driving, are you crazy. At 3.60 per gallon, the people around here aren't going anywhere except to work. Maybe to people whose parents are paying for their education and all else while they are in school, or the upper income white educateds that are supporting Sen. Obama .18 a gallon is not enough. But if you are in a poor rural area and drive 20 miles or more a day to work and cannot afford more than a 10-year old clunker, then you are saving approximately $10 a week and that my dear elitists, is a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. It is probably not the best solution, but right now something needs to be done and done quick. If you can't understand how $10 a week can help a poor family, I think we have an idea just who the real elitists are. posted 05/05/2008 at 12:38:19
Obama made a speech comparable to Lincoln? Yes he made a speech and in it he said ne could no more disown Rev. Wright than his own grandmother, then when it hit him hard again, same stuff, nothing new; he disowned him. Is this not speaking out of both sides of his mouth? WHAT PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON? To say that Obama did not pull a typical political move in those actions are delusional and pathetic. He repudiated because he had to, purely for political purposes and Obama supporters cannot see the forest for the trees. posted 05/07/2008 at 12:36:40

So you would rather lose to McCain to get your candidate in and risk 8 more years of Bush? What is up people? Barack Obama would make a great President, but as I have stated before, when I campaigned for him, I heard the fear factor in middle America. IT IS THERE and right now HE IS UNELECTABLE! Not my fault, but I heard it and I knew it. Was I a turncoat? Maybe. BUT I WANT A DEM IN OFFICE!!!!! So why shoot yourself in the foot? Put her in, demand that he be her Vice and we have the Presidency sewn up for 16 years and make history and bring our sons and daughters home.
WHY IS THAT SO DISTASTEFUL?
Are all of you willing to risk more deaths in an unnecessary war, higher taxes, losing your homes, a depression, rising gas prices, and god knows what else to get your guy the nomination? It is like a child saying I will take my toys home and not play if it is not my way. Stop being like a petulant child. I will vote for whoever the dems nominate. Thank you for believing me. You asked why, which is what I asked and was called by some on this post a racist and a liar. As I stated, when I made the calls, I was ashamed of my own race. The AA's I spoke to were kind, courteous and making a decision based on the issues. This was last May, many were still undecided and in the face of so many people that had been making racist statements, that AA's would just flock to Obama. The whites I spoke with were so vile. This disheartened me. So I did the "off the Bus" interviews and worked with the Dem Party. I went to an Obama, Edwards and Clinton rally. Obama is intelligent as are the rest. He is compassionate and will make a terrific president, but not this time. He needs to be vetted. So many out there are racists, including the ones who hurled that at me. After all this Wright crap, people are looking at him differently, maybe not even consciously meaning to do so. At this point, I see him as unelectable, so I really believe that it would be in the best interest of the US, for Hillary to be President and Obama be Vice-President. They would do a hell of a job and in eight years, we will vote him in and have Dems in office 16 years. We don't need to be hating each other and this is TURNING UGLY! posted 05/01/2008 at 14:12:29

That has to be the stupidest statement I have ever heard, as are most of the above.
I went in to that campaign office and it had nothing to do with skin color, at the time I felt the inspiration most of you have talked about. BUT, have you ever made the calls? I did, for months. The first set of call sheets I was given was more than a hundred pages long and consisted of entirely AA voters. I felt this was odd, because this was a race that was supposed to be built on unity. I made the calls and this was around May of last year. At this time, most of the responses I got was they were not sure yet who they were voting for, were still undecided. I got a new set of call sheets a couple of months later and made the calls. These were all white voters and they were nasty and racist for the most part. I was so disheartened by this, I backed out of the campaign and started doing some "Off the Bus" projects for this post. Unlike most of you, I will vote for a democrat, whether Hillary or Obama but with two wars, the economy, gas prices, the housing problem and more, we need experience, not inspiration. But I saw it coming, I knew when I started making the calls, this would turn into a race issue and could get ugly. We do NOT need more issues. posted 05/01/2008 at 13:25:45
I campaigned for him and was a District Team Leader for District 13. Why is it so hard to believe that someone could reasonably change their mind and by the way, I have two African American grandchildren and one asian american. SEE WHAT I MEAN, I AM NOT FOR HIM THEREFORE I MUST BE A RACIST! posted 05/01/2008 at 12:10:51
This is ridiculous. If you are for Hillary, you are racist, if you are for Obama, you are enlightened. Per the Obama supporters, Hillary is a liar, a republican corporate shill and Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread. WHY? I campaigned for him and must ask why. He has virtually no record. Sure he came out against the war, but has stated on the record that he did not see the intelligence and does not know how he would have voted. On the issues they the same, except her health plan covers more Americans. So I have to ask why? Because he inspires? Not good enough for the most important job in the world. Because he is a uniter? We have become so divided that race is now an issue bigger than the war in this election.
Last week before the latest Wright mess came out, Obama supporters were saying, "Did you listen to Rev. Wright? DId you hear the entire sermon. He said nothing wrong." Before that, "Obama wasn't there for those sermons, but the sermons were truthful and we were only hearing sound bytes." You said Obama could not disassociate because Wright said nothing wrong and it would be coming out against AA voters. When the Rev. Wright came out this past weekend andreiterated the same thing and Obama disassociated himself, well now thats ok too.
CAN HE DO NO WRONG? His supporters are supporting anything he says or does. I don't get it. posted 05/01/2008 at 11:45:40

Obama may win the nomination because Dean is a pansy. But he WILL NOT, again, WILL NOT win the general election. He has backtracked, blamed, offered excuses and lost every debate. It is not a color issue, never has been (remember Iowa?) and that is part of the reason his numbers are falling. If someone likes Obama for their own reasons, then they are enlightened; if they chose Clinton (last time I checked we still were free to make our own choices) then we must be racist. This signals anger and people are tired of the anger within their own party. Hell I am Native American (1/2) and I am being called racist.

As the grandaughter of a Native-American, the grandmother of two African-American and one Asian American grandchildren, this has to stop! Yes, Native-Americans had this whole country stolen and now live on reservations and were oppressed horribly. Asian-Americans were held in internment camps. African-Americans were sold into slavery. Hispanics are now looked down upon. Irish were once refused jobs. Italians were automatically linked to organized crime. Gay Americans are terribly discriminated against and the subject of hate crimes all over the US. Muslims and people of middle-eastern descent are now profiled. You say these things, right underneath a statement of the US is racist. Yes it is. No denying it, the United States is a racist country. If you believe that the US is racist, then you have to accept that the utterings of Rev. Wright have sunk Obama. He cannot win. The racists will be out in droves. People are not going to click on the link that explains what Wright says, anymore than they checked when Kerry was swiftboated or Gore was lashed at for the internet thing. All they know is what they heard and they will continue to hear it and hear it and hear it. This is just a Fox campaign now, wait til the Republicans start, McCain doesn't have to do anything, the PAC's will do it all. The only way to win now, is for us to all come together and back a Hillary/Obama or an Obama/Hillary presidency. So many of you seem to be young, so my last word of advice is, as the Beatles put it, "Come Together", because if we don't, you can expect a draft. If Obama continues to fall in the polls, and if she wins the popular vote (it can be done) and if she wins the next ten states because of his recent problems, and if the superdelegates see this and give her their vote, should the DNC say well he won, so lets just give it to McCain. Because that is what wil happen, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but Obama's numbers are falling and I have a feeling will continue to do so. You cannot slam someone for poor judgment and then show that you have poor judgment as well.
What is truly sad is how little you care for the Democratic Party, sometimes your candidate loses and you have to go with the other person. It is astonishing to me how many of the Obamites state they just will not vote if he loses, this shows me that many are of the "taking their toys and going home" syndrome. That is not how it goes. posted 03/24/2008 at 12:24:07
