Young Evangelicals Abandoning GOP Over Iraq, Economy

Um...because it's supposed to be someone who is above being "vengeful". THere are no "two sides" to god. If god is no better than us, what need do we have of him/her/it. No thanks, I'll move along until and unless i see a god worth worshipping. posted 05/13/2008 at 10:22:12

Joe Scarborough Walks Off MSNBC's "Race To The White House" After Exchange With Rachel Maddow

Rachel is so dignified. She should give lessons in debate. She comes across as knowledgeable and totally calm and confident. I wish more Democrats and Progressive commentators could take some cues from her vs. Colmes. posted 04/18/2008 at 10:16:01

Maria Shriver Talks To Oprah About Being First Lady: "I Cried A Lot... I Still Cry"

No, it's MUCH better to have a dry-drunk evangelical with visions of Armageddon. Just so long as it's a man, right? posted 04/17/2008 at 10:09:23

US Economy Changes Spending Patterns For Majority, But Not For The Super Rich

You forgot the most important one: The rich get the courts to enforce their contracts. Rich people wouldn't be rich people without the police to protect their assets and the courts to ensure that contracts are upheld. Without the court system - used primarily by the wealthy for contract enforcement, contracts wouldn't be worth the paper they're printed on. But with the court system - with judges and court support staff by the hundreds of thousands paid for by you and me and with the police to enforce the court decisions, the rich know that they can hire the best lawyers to write contracts that only meet THEIR interests (read a car rental contract or a credit card contract lately) and then use that system to screw the rest of us w/o the ability to hire lawyers till doomsday. posted 04/14/2008 at 14:02:12

Inside Clinton's Elton John Fundraiser: Singer Amazed By "Misogynistic Attitudes" Of Some In USA

There are very misogynistic elements in this country. I'm guessing you've not experienced them, but I have and they're there, just below the surface, whenever a woman pushes back at the status quo. posted 04/10/2008 at 10:11:59

Consider Yourself Middle Class? Think Again

I have some friends who are upper-middle who hate the term "working class" since, according to them "it makes it seem like WE don't work...we have money because WE work." Personally I like the term "working poor" better. It says that yes, they're working, but they're also not doing so well as a result. posted 04/10/2008 at 10:28:50

FAA Inspectors Say Concerns Ignored

American Airlines grounded 325 aircraft on Wednesday, stranding passengers across the country because of a safety inspection lapse. This grounding coincidentally occurred after the FAA finally ORDERED an audit of inspection records? Hmm....Purely coincidence I'm sure. "Bobby" Boutris is a hero and should be honored as one for not letting this issue get pushed aside even through intimidation and threats of losing his job. posted 04/04/2008 at 10:32:31

"Today" Show Announces Kathie Lee Gifford Will Host 4th Hour

Ah yes, owned by that famously liberal defense contractor: GE. They didn't even mention the booing the president got yesterday. They were the biggest cheerleaders of the war (and still are). They wouldn't know the peoples' business if it bit them in the behind. posted 03/31/2008 at 12:52:22

Starbucks Refuses To Pay Baristas Court-Ordered Tips

My email to Starbucks this am:
I am appalled that Howard Schultz is planning to defy a California judge in the "tip fiasco." I have been a starbucks customer (heavy use) for over 10 years. I will stop going to Starbucks effective tomorrow. This is America and you don't just set aside judge's rulings because you don't like them. Howard needs to throw in the towel and do what the law says. posted 03/29/2008 at 10:51:48

Pennies: Why They Won't Go Away

Pre '82 pennies are worth about 2.1 cents. However, if you melt them down, you're breaking a (new) law. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=2725597&page=1 posted 03/27/2008 at 00:24:55

Don't Call Him Mr. Mom

The greater involvement of fathers is one of the most positive developments in our culture. My husband is far more involved in parenting than my father ever was. It makes us a better family. It's not that moms can't (and haven't) do(ne) it alone. It's just that more nurturing caregivers is better than less nurturing caregivers. My husband used to joke that babyhood is definitely a 2-on-1 coverage ratio. To all those wonderful "evolved" fathers out there - THANK YOU! You are making more of a difference than we can tell right now, but soon, it will become more apparent. And to all those dads who call it 'babysitting" when you take care of YOUR kids, you really don't get it yet. posted 03/27/2008 at 00:18:32

JPMorgan In Secret Talks To Quintuple Bid For Bear Stearns

I love that someone is testing one of the rotten Delaware incorporation rules - 40% selling w/o shareholder approval. This is the reason most US companies incorporate in Delaware - a race to the bottom for corporate-friendly majority-shareholder-friendly laws. Well, let's see if the shareholders like it now that Bear is set to use one of those laws to screw the minority shareholders. Perhaps shareholders of other corporations will think twice about incorporating in Delaware. posted 03/24/2008 at 10:28:24
