Obama: I Haven't Moved To The Center

In this instance I think he is once again not coming in clean or clear. He said he would fight against any bill containing telecom immunity... he changed his mind. He has 'changed' his mind about many things which is fine but that goes both ways... my impression of Senator Obama as a leader and what he stands for has definitely changed.... At this point I will still vote for him. I have far less enthusiasm and am less willing to work for him as I see him being a more ordinary candidate and not the 'change' I had thought he would bring. posted 07/08/2008 at 19:22:36

Obama's Response To FISA Critics: A Vital Exchange With An Empty Center

Well expressed. I, myself, feel that his position and his explanations just don't feel congruent. I don't know and actually don't care why he is making the choices he is making regarding this bad bill. It is a bad bill and no one should be supporting it. Our congress is caving once again and they are failing to uphold their oath of office. When the congress fails to uphold its oath of office and the administration is also failing to uphold the constitution and laws of our land, how do we the people fight for our democracy and our right to have our constitution protected and our rights upheld. Does the constitution need to be amended for a vote of no confidence? or some other tool to say that if the american people agree by a majority vote that the adminstration has failed in its duties or congress in theirs, that we can remove them from office. Too much damage can happen in between elections. I don't know the answer but I know that we do not live in a democracy. There is no democracy when leaders fail to follow and uphold the law and our constitution. posted 07/07/2008 at 19:08:07

FISA and Beltway Dems Strictly by the Numbers

Well said. What has become evident to me is that we need another way to remove our elected officials from office when they are not upholding their oath of office. The three branches are clearly not enough of a check on each other. The people need a 'vote of no confidence' or something similar to demand that the service they promise is delivered. They should not be allowed to toy with and wreck our nation simply because we have to wait until we vote again and clearly they can promise everything to get elected and then never deliver. We need more of an ability to say 'do your job'! or 'you are fired'! posted 07/06/2008 at 10:22:35

Obama Tries and Fails to Put Out the FISA Fire in His Own House

I was one who wrote to Senator Obama asking him to run for president. I removed myself from his site after what he has said about FISA. His position and explanations do not make any sense to me. I feel as if he is lying or not being straight about the situation. Maybe that's wishful thinking and I want there to be some other explanation. While I still may vote for him, this situation has proven he is more politics as usual than he suggests and my enthusiasm for him is at a lull. I am an american citizen wanting to live in a democracy and our elected officials are not doing what it takes to protect to serve and protect our democracy. This means I have to stand up, protest, and make a loud noise. I think we need an alternative to elections to remove officials who fail to do their jobs well. I think we need to add a 'vote of no confidence' o something similar so that we can remove them. We need something to shake up this system. I don't know how we get their but yesterday I was directed to a site where they suggest reading the declaration of independence 5 times and to see how that changes or perspective on things. I think it is an excellent idea. posted 07/05/2008 at 11:32:02

McGovern To Obama: In Choosing VP, First Do No Harm

John Edwards is the BEST candidate. Even though he had said he did not want the job, he then shifted later to say that he would accept if Senator Obama felt he was the best choice. I still believe he is the best person to take over as president should anything happen to Senator Obama. I believe he has the will and vigor to carry forward with many of the same agendas that senator Obama has campaigned on and that they would make a very good team for changing business as usual in Washington. However I have less faith in Senator Obama regarding this because of his recent shift on FISA and the way it extends executive powers and grants immunity to those telecom companies that may have broken the law along with the Bush administration. John Edwards would be my second choice for president which is esactly why I feel e would be the best VP. posted 07/04/2008 at 10:05:29

Obama Rebukes MoveOn In Patriotism Speech

I think it is stupid for Senator Obama to reject Wesley Clark's statements. Clark is speaking the truth but that's beside the point. Senator Obama cannot go around being making statements on every remark people in politics make and frankly he is giving too much leniency to Senator McCain. I am currently so disappointed with Senator Obama anyway that I don't know if it matters. I will vote for him but that's about all and I am sure that's all he cares about. I no longer think of him highly as I once did. He seems much more like politics as usual to me now. posted 07/01/2008 at 08:40:45

Obama Undercuts His Brand

Yes Obama's stock pummeted to a low 50% when I used to be 100% behind him and willing to work to help him get elected. McCain rates about a 10% with me so Obama's still ahead but all of my enthusiasm about him is gone. I am very disappointed. I agree that he has wasted much of the good will and hope he built to get the nomination. Guess he feels he doesn't need it now that he has the nomination. posted 06/28/2008 at 18:56:24

The Obama Problem

Is he better than McCain! Yes. Is our democracy being slowly eroded by this administration and this congress? Yes. Should I be outraged? Absolutely! It's not some small thing to grant immunity to the telecoms and grant further power to the president to exploit FISA. It is our constitution that is being dismantled bit by bit through this irresponsible governing. Was I expecting Christmas? No. Was I expecting him to fight and lead when it comes to civil liberties? Yes! THAT is why I am furious with him. And his caving on the FISA bill giving powers he said 'he would guard closely as president' clearly indicates this law is questionable at best and we already know that this administration only follows laws that it likes anyway. All other laws are irrelevant. So truly this FISA bill is about granting immunity to the telecoms and this helping the president get away with illegally wiretapping numerous americans. IT IS AN OUTRAGE! That's that. These 'leaders' took us to war, put our country in a terrible position financially, and continuously refuse to do much to hold this administration or themselves accountable. This is 'our' democracy. It is taking a beating. posted 06/28/2008 at 12:04:58

Oh I Get It, The Left Just Doesn't Want to Win This Year

I never said I am going to vote for McCain. I want more than that. I 'hoped' for more than that. posted 06/27/2008 at 02:20:25
Give me a break. I was a full on supporter of Senator Obama and truly hopeful that he would fight for our civil liberties and restore the rule of law which has been continuously abused. When our leaders live above and outside of the law and get away with it we do not live in an effective democracy. Only the congress has the power to hold the adminstration accountable. Even Senator Specter is concerned about how the rule of law is constantly being disregarded by this adminstration. The congress can pass the best FISA law ever... this administration doesn't care. It has no fear of being held accountable or suffering any consequences. Granting immunity is much bigger symbolically than many seem to understand. It is a sign to the adminstration to go full steam ahead with their disregard for the authority of congress and our laws. This isn't just some liberal whining about something we 'want' this is our democracy which is eroding.. I am incredibly disappointed with Senator Obama not just because he changed his position but because I had hope that he would bring a backbone to this congress and that the rule of law would be strengthened. My strong feelings and conviction about this are related to a concern that we will never recover as a democracy. This is HUGE... it' not just about suing some telecoms AND I do NOT believe that our security has to come at the expense of our laws and democracy. posted 06/26/2008 at 23:14:20

Obama On FISA: Security Trumps Suing Phone Companies

That's exactly how I feel and even though I was a full on supporter of Senator Obama, I just removed myself from his website. My illusions that he might fight for our civil liberties are gone. I did my best to contact senator's and fight against this. Senator Obama offers no leadership on this. We do not have to sacrifice our democracy for our security. Whenever our leaders hold themselves above the law and they are not held in check by congress but instead encouraged by constant caving in and now granting of immunity... we are not operating under an effective democracy. We need another way to hold them accountable beside money and elections. Can the american people use the judiciary? Can we sue congressmen, for example, for violating their oaths of office? If they fail to uphold the constitution do we have other recourse besides withholding donations and waiting for the next election where we are always settling for something. We need some way to raise the bar here to restore democracy. posted 06/25/2008 at 19:51:12

Feingold Makes Case Against Telecom Immunity

I am grateful to Senators Feingold, Dodd, and Reid. Our democracy has been weakened by this adminstration. The jury is still out as to whether it will repair and/or survive. When our leaders consider themselves to 'BE' the law and 'ABOVE' we are no longer living in a democracy. I am sickened by congressmen who suggest that I should respect this president or their adminstration. This president and his adminstration has violated the law and FAILED to uphold his oath of office. If our democratic congress had any sense they would impeach and they would not conisider for one second granting immunity to anyone breaking the law because a 'president' tells them to. The president is not the law. He is not our sovereign ruler. He is an elected official that swears to uphold and protect the constitution of the United States and he has failed to do so. posted 06/25/2008 at 16:06:04

Why Bill Clinton's Still "Miffed" At Obama

Excuse me but if you could find recordings of many of his small town talks that I watched on CSpan you would be appalled by some of the outrageous things Bill said about Senator Obama, his campaign and the way he used fear and other despicable tactics to try to persuade people to vote for Hillary. I was. I am not that excited about seeing him campaigning for Senator Obama. It's not gong to send me running to McCain but it I doubt I will donate funds to him after this. Unless of course he does something redeeming. I hope that they can get the immunity out of the bill but if they don't they should be voting against it... not for it. I understand that in many other respects the bill might be good and an improvement but our democracy has already been weakened by this adminstration and this congress's lack of holding them accountable under the law. Further deteriorating the legal channels for maintaining a democracy is the last thing this country needs no matter how hard they worked on it. posted 06/25/2008 at 16:46:54

Thank you! Thank you! I just called both of their offices to thank them. I have been writing everyone to try to get someone to do something about this. I will not stop now but I am glad to know that these two are standing up. I have called Senator Obama to tell him that i feel this vote is nearly as important as the vote to give GW Bush the authority to go to war in Iraq and he is on the wrong side of protecing our civil liberties. It is bad enough that the democrats will not consider impeachment but it is and absolute outrage that they would actively grant immunity. I could not be more disgusted with the democratic leadership right now. My own senators in Colorado are far too milk toast and wimpy to fight to uphold their oath of office. Is Obama Selling Out on FISA bill?

The entire democratic party is being idiotic in this case. It is bad enough that they will not consider impeachment of this administration for its criminal acts... to actively grant immunity is to be complicit in Bush's crimes. He is wrong to think that anything in the 'compromise' FISA bill makes it worth granting this immunity. They need to be much more agressive in holding his administration accountable but they have rarely even been able to hold it in check. I am writing to EVERY senator this evening to express my views on this bill and the effect this is immediately having on voters. They are asking us to just shut up and 'take it' once again. I am furious. It is like telling the rapist he can go free because he gave you something else you wanted. How are the american people supposed to feel as the victim of the assault when you let the perpetrator get away without consequences for their crimes against us. I am so absolutely disgusted and disheartened with the democratic leaders in congress. It's as if they felt like wasting all of the hope, energy, and good will that has been building as if they could just take that for granted. Senator Obama is taking a big hit for this move by the democratic leaders. They obviously have overestimated how much s@#t the american people are able to tolerate. This is a huge blow to the hopeful momentum that was building. Clearly Christianity hasn't done much to make these people honest and respectful of others. Freedom of religion is one of the MOST important aspects of what our democracy is founded on. Freedom of religion means having the freedom to believe what we choose about a higher power including believing there is none. Christians must not be allowed to bully the world our military and should not be promoted by our governent. I have heard too many times that the military has broadly promoted and encouraged Christianity being practiced. Promotion of religion via the military is a violation of our constitution. I am not a Christian. That may make me wrong in the eyes of some who are Christian but not in the eyes of the constitution. All americans should be free to join the military and practice the religion of their choice and have that supported. Government has a role to play in every aspect of american life even if its role is to protect our privacy...
It can work well as a servant and parnter of the american people, businesses, and institutions. We need regulation but have to fine tune what kind and how much... etc.

However, it seems that whenever we declare a 'war' on something whether it is drugs or terrorism...it is a huge expenditure lining someone's pockets and never does much about the issue at hand ie. drugs or terrorism... It is as if republicans decide that they want a pet project that their cohorts can manage that will bring more money and power to their friends... not really caring to solve the issue because that would end the money and power line...

We need to stop declaring war on everything and start looking how to successfully deal with these issues. Bring together the best and brightest ideas and solutions and keep working it and tweaking it until we get these issues in hand.

This is a historic opportunity and yet...
I feel so strongly about the Clintons that I would not vote for him with her on the ticket.
I could not in good conscience do it.
I am hopeful that she won't be on the ticket. I was never impressed or inspired by Hillary before this campaign started and during this campaign the behavior of the Clintons caused me to go beyond losing all respect for them....
So today calling for 'unity' is interesting. It's a good thing no one is asking me to support Hillary for president because that would not happen. The most I feel I can offer in unity today is that I feel everyone should vote according to their heart, values, and integrity. Knowing that i would not vote for Senator Clinton, even though I am a white woman, I respect the fact that there are people out there who feel the same way about Senator Obama. If they can vote for him, they will. If they can't, they won't. I understand. posted 06/07/2008 at 09:54:57

No Sore Winners

I have had to really think about this today. I did listen to Hillarys concession speech.
I hope she will work unconditionally to support Senator Obama. She is more magnanimous in that respect that I am.
I could not support Hillary on the ticket. I went beyond losing all respect for the Clintons during this campaign. Hillary never inspired or impressed me in any way that made me want her to be our president.
However senator Obama impressed me and inspired me to write to him immediately and ask him to run for president from the first time I saw him. I literally said to myself' I wish he was our president'"

She may have regained a bit of respect from me by making her concession speech today.
It would be very sad and a huge challenge for me if Senator Obama chose her as his VP because I won't vote to put her in the white house.
I feel we all have to vote our hearts, our values, and our integrity... and the truth will come out of that.
For me a vote for the Clintons would be not precisely the same but similar in too many ways to a vote for Bush.
I can't do it. posted 06/07/2008 at 16:00:50

This is from the man who confidently said on Sunday 'SHE WILL BE THE NOMINEE'. Two days later Senator Obama became the presumptive nominee. Ickes never wanted to acknowledge the fact that the DNC ruling effectively tampered with the primaries of Florida and Michigan and this made it impossible for the results to be a 'true and fair representation of the voters' of either state.

Clinton Says Obama Wants to Stop Votes

I am so sick of all of Hilary's BS. She keeps blaming Obama for the lack of a revote which is disingenuous.
She knows very well the Florida and Michigan votes are tainted/invalid. She would not in a million years let that election count if it were not in her favor.
Nominations are often decided before all states have a chance to vote....
However I do agree that they should keep having the primaries and she should stay in the race as long as she wants...I think it makes Senator Obama a better candidate the more he has to work for his nomination. The republicans won't go easy on him so she is helping him be more vetted for the general election.
I am against anything other than a 50/50 seating of the delegates of Michigan and Florida. I understand that revotes were logistically and legally problematic which could have drawn out the nomination process with legal challenges to the re-votes etc.
I just hope that Clinton doing better in primaries is not because of cheating of any kind.. Caucuses have clear outcomes witnessed by a lot of people. I know they are recounting Ohio and getting rid of voting machine. posted 04/01/2008 at 10:00:01

Experience Creating Transformational Change: What Bill Had and Lost, Apparently Never Shared With Hillary, and Barack May Know Naturally

I have studied typology and I have worked for Ken Wilber a philospher and writer on Integral Theory. Senator Obama has a rare typology that is idea for leadership on a grand scale. There is an element of physical expeirence people will feel being around him as if he has his own polarity like th planet. There are generally not many people on the planet with this typology as I supposed we don't need so many of them... However this gives someone natural leadership skills ability to hold very large/grand scale visions and work with people to bring them into reality. This is what it takes to 'build pyramids in Egypt' or 'go to the moon' Senator Obama reflects the natural skills involved and I think that is why he seems to have natual transformational organization skills. I do know of another man in charge of an organization that I belong to and he is perfect at creating a dynamic and healthy orgnazation that people want to be a part of.
Senator Obama also through learning and or natural skills applies integral theorty in his manner of gathering information. listening to all perspectives, transcending and including problems...
All of this is why I asked him to run for president from the first moment I saw him. Senator Obama has the potential of becoming one of the greatest leaders of our time. He definitely offers change, hope, and transformation to a power blind government. posted 03/30/2008 at 19:07:25

It seems we should know more... why are VP's often people I know nothing about? It doesn't seem right to give so much potential power so casually after everything we go through to pick a president. I know it's tradition but does it make sense? I would rather see John Edwards, Chris Dodd, or Bill Richardson on the ticket with Senator Obama. I would feel a little better about them becoming president. On the other hand I hope that Senator Obama will choose a person who he feels would be as good as president as he will be and I guess I have to trust him to do that. Clinton Camp: Hillary Misspoke About Her Role In Bosnia

What kind of mother is going to take her child into an actual combat zone? What country would allow a first lady and the president's child to really go into harm's way? If it were true it reflects poor judgement but it makes much more sense that it was a lie. posted 03/24/2008 at 15:22:16

Putting The Dream Ticket To Bed

I am an OBAMA supporter but could NOT support a joint ticket. I will not vote to put the Clintons back in the white house. I am sure it woud be a wasted vote because if the Clintons are on the ticket in any way shape or form it will unite the republican party and all of their historical and new issues that have yet to be examined will be slammed consistently to prevent any chance of them returning to the white house. There is NOTHING DREAMY ABOUT HAVING CLINTON ON THE TICKET. posted 03/24/2008 at 16:07:21

Michigan, Florida, and the L-word

As you said, 'according to media reports'...
Well the media has it wrong as it often does. When politicians changed the date of the primaries in Michigan and Florida to earlier dates that violated party rules they were informed that those elections would not be valid/would not count for the DNC nomination for president. And it seems some republican politicians were behind this. The candidates were asked to uphold the decision of the DNC and not campaign in those states because of these violations. Hillary Clinton herself stated that these elections would not count for anything. You have her on video stating this. As there was no campaigning by other candidates and Hillary Clinton's name is notorious she won in the elections that were stubbornly held even though they were completely invalid to the organization that they wanted to elect a nominee for. However even the voters knew that the elections did not count. That taints the entire election situation. People voting according to that information, not voting etc. These were tainted elections and marked as invalid long before they occurred.
Senator Clinton finding herself behind and needing those states to help her win changed her tune and fought to have these tainted elections count. Her motive is obviously completely self serving. I don't buy her sudden 'concern for the Florida and Michigan voters' as geniune whatsoever. She will do anything to win. However it was obvious to the rest of the world that these elections were tainted and could not count. Then she pushed for a new election AND THERE WERE SIGNIFICANT LEGAL HURDLES AND ISSUES RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS TAINTED VOTE AND HOLDING NEW ELECTIONS... THERE WERE TOO MANY THINGS THAT DID NOT WORK ABOUT HAVING A REVOTE FROM BOTH A FAIRNESS AND LEGALITY ASPECT.
So, if it makes you feel better to blame Senator Obama or any other scapegoat you like...then I suppose you can do that. However, it is not based in fact that it is he who caused this situation to arise for Michigan and Florida. His suggestions to bring unity were rejected by the Clinton campaign. He did however hold his ground and would not agree to anything that was not going to be legal or fair.
I am very curious about the media. It isn't just Washington that needs to change. It seems that it is also the media that needs to change as it has allowed itself to stray way from factual reporting and is rather prone to being a rumor mill. How much of this negative campaign is media spin?
You know that there is a segment of the population that will hear your one liners and only that one line and they will have a tendency to believe whatever is stated there because they 'think' it's factual because it's in print. People working hard who don't have time to check your facts or check on how you are spinning something. I think the media has been often irresponsible during this campaign. And I don't understand what power the Clinton's have that keeps you all at bay from getting real about Hillary Clinton's candidacy. She has not released her tax returns. Her strange spiritual practice with the Family that meets in cells etc. has yet to be discussed even though religion has become a topic for McCain and Obama. A book is going to be released in May apparently that exposes some details about the strange religous order Hillary is part of. No donors for the Clinton Library list yet. She is not vetted. Most of her experience stories have been proven to be gross exaggerations. And would we really be considering her for president if she were not married to Bill Clinton? There are so many questions. I have lost all respect for Hillary Clinton and could not stomach voting for her. I don't uunderstand why people are voting for her. And I feel certain the if Clinton were the nominee it would unite the republican party and they would do anything to keep the Clintons out of the whitehouse.
I am holding on to hope as our nation is facing increasingly challenging issues and I am fighting for change.

A Few Unanswered Questions About Bill Richardson's Obama Endorsement

I am sorry but the race in NM was so close that I don't think this is a bid deal. I think if it had been a more decisive win it would make sense but I also think that as a candidate for VP with Senator Obama he had to make a bigger decision. If a superdelegate is dealing with a very narrow margin in their state I think it gives them a bit more leverage to make a choice. I think Bill Richardson would make a great VP and from the event today there was an appearance to me they might be trying it on for size. My preference is Edwards because Senator Dodd says he doesn't want the position. But I like Governor Richardson.

Obama Campaign Responds With Kitchen Sink Conference Call

Yes, I have lost all respect for the Clintons and would not vote to put them in the whitehouse on any ticket. Character matters. I don't trust them. I don't trusth them to deliver on their policies. I don't trust her to not be serving special interests. She couldn't get healthcare reform before... I don't trust her to deliver it now. I trust the Clintons to behave in despicable and self serving ways. posted 03/24/2008 at 18:47:30
