Air Force Missile Launch Crew Fell Asleep Holding Classified Code Devices

You start learning how to handle classified information in basic training. There's no excuse for ever compromising classified material. I worked in a hanger behind coded locked doors but there would be hell to pay if any classified material whether it be confidential, secret or top secret was not handled properly at all times, fortunately it always was. posted 07/25/2008 at 10:29:02

McCain Owns First Foreign Policy Gaffe During Obama's Iraq Trip (VIDEO)

Right. That's my great fear. They're going to use his popularity in 'old' Europe against him.

I'm surrounded by Republicans and they like McCain in the same twisted doesn't quite make sense way they like Bush.

I worry about the squishy middle if boy George attacks Iran. posted 07/21/2008 at 11:48:16

Obama Takes His White House Campaign To The Battlefields

The camps in Afghanistan attracted literalist extremists from around the world where the attacks on us were orchestrated. Justice requires the criminal prosecution of those who commit mass murder. However, I believe that the Bushies may have fouled things up so much that any resumption in this area will be an enormous task.

What you say about Saudi Arabia is correct and our relationship with this nation should be less buddy-buddy and more geared to the human rights of it's people.

We commit, allow and turn our backs away from many atrocities because of some short term political goal. Our government puts the best spin on these episodes whenever they see the light of day and claim it"s all in an effort to fight terrorism. But are we truly any better when we endorse the same human rights abuses as our foes? (the evil act of torture)

The fight against terrorism is more often a fight for economic influence disguised as a fight for freedom. When we support a country whose government mutilates human rights we hand an ideological victory and propaganda tools for those we call our enemies to use against us. Where they suppress speech we should encourage it. Where they use violence we should react with restraint, kindness, food and medical care. We should never provide military assistance or have close diplomatic ties with any country that violates the civil liberties of its citizens. posted 07/20/2008 at 11:46:49
Wow, the right-wing trolls must be running scared. The hate is coming out of them much easier.

I'm very glad he made this trip and that he understands that General Pervez Musharraf is a military dictator who acquired power by way of a coup. He"s just the latest example of "our dictator in the pocket", at least until it all falls apart.

Human Rights in Pakistan are horrendous, they have weapons of "mass destruction", those who would attack us are educated, harbored and trained within their borders, and bin Laden is protected there.

He's placed Afghanistan and Pakistan among the top priorities of U.S. foreign policy objectives, as they should be, for his administration.

We made many promises to the people of Afghanistan while the hardships of these people were reported in the press.

We abandoned them, our word and the 3,000 who died on 9-11 when Bush and his Neocon string-pullers conducted their illegal dirty oil war in Iraq.

It would be so nice to have intelligence sitting in the White House. posted 07/20/2008 at 11:07:24

US To Set Up Diplomatic Mission In Iran: Report

Either they're listening to our future President Obama and they want to make a lame attempt at taking this issue away from him OR they're setting up a propaganda tool making it look like an effort at diplomacy was made before taking military action. posted 07/17/2008 at 11:14:26

Obama Iraq Speech: US Strategy Is Unsound

I would like to add that Neocon-led Bush policies have made such a mess of Afghanistan, I'm sceptical that previous military successes there could be repeated. However, we owe justice to the 3,000 that has been denied them during this regime. posted 07/15/2008 at 10:31:23
They screwed the Afghanistan people and our troops who were fighting the terrorists who really did attack our country by running away from the "war on terror" hijacking it for neoconservative desires. The Taliban is regaining strength in Afghanistan and Osama Bin Laden is still free.

Our military does not deserve to be run into a pit because this administration refuses to admit they were wrong. This occupation is making us weaker. I believe they know it, too. It seems that they would prefer to do our military great harm and our nation as a result in order to protect their sad mistaken choices.

The Bush administration is saturated with lies that are harming all Americans and the Middle East. They have been the best friends of those who attacked us by making the United States weaker and reviled in the world while boosting Al Qaeda recruiting and prestige. They hijacked the criminal pursuit of Al Qaeda in favor of their own misguided desires and against the interests of the American people and those of the Middle East and they continue to do so. Their lying tongues like the 9-11 terrorists are drenched in the blood of the innocent. They truly belong on trial for the crimes they"ve committed against the citizens of the United States and Iraq and whatever else is uncovered. posted 07/15/2008 at 09:54:30

How Chicago Shaped Obama

What are your issues of importance?

For me, despite mine and my families health and financial needs, it is; no Iran war, return to constitutional order(kill fascism), an end to the occupation in Iraq, end torture and mistreatment of prisoners, no more extra ordinary renditions(disappearances), to renew our commitments to Afghanistan, bring 9-11 perpetrators to a proper justice and to reclaim our respect and dignity in the world. Energy, economics, health, education and environmental concerns follow closely.

I know it's quite a list which most Progressives share, maybe in a little different order of importance, but simular. These are all things which have been decimated during the Bush regime and will only continue to worsen if McCain were allowed to become president. We can't let that happen!

That is why for all of us who call ourselves liberals, progressives, democrats, independents, or fed-up Republicans the single most important issue, on the top of everyones agenda must be getting Barack Obama elected president, with a Democratic Congress.

There will be plenty of time for fighting on the issues after the inauguration, especially with the conservative-district Blue Dogs compromising with the far right, so often. We're passionate Democrats who do love nuance and are willing to go through the struggles to have all these issues work best for the American people. posted 07/13/2008 at 12:40:50

World Leaders Eat 18-Course Meal While Discussing Solutions To Global Food Crisis

Republican individual responsibility means everyone else"s responsibility but mine. It"s an ideological principal embraced by modern conservatives that is designed to protect the conscience of the individual or group from social or religious liability. It"s used to absolve one from long held Judeo-Christian principles such as "by the grace of God go I" and "to those who have been given much, much is expected". It implies that the gifts from God which we all possess in one form or another have been distributed in equal measure with similar qualities. It"s been used as an excuse from responsibility for everything from the homeless addict to the poor and those with mental and physical illnesses, to such extremes as victims of natural disaster. posted 07/08/2008 at 18:13:06

Bush: Skipping Opening Ceremony "An Affront To The Chinese"

If you care about human rights it's very plain that the Olympics in China must be boycotted, at the very least the opening ceremonies. Also, the money you save buying China imports is money that's being used to fund the Chinese army and police who are the arm of injustice in China. There's a direct link between US trade policy, the American consumer and human rights violations in China, Tibet and Myanmar (Burma). The money you spend on Chinese products highlights an indifference to the plight of our fellow human beings.

Majority Of Americans Say Founding Fathers Would Be Disappointed: Poll

The whole world and history are looking at us now. If we are strong, if the faith we have in our nation is strong, if what we have always told ourselves what we believed about the endurance of our constitution is strong; we should move forward with guts.

What image do we want to leave the world and our children"s, children"s, children"s children? That of weak complacency in the slow unraveling of 200 years of liberty or steadfast support for what our founding fathers created and our ancestors as well as ourselves swore allegiance to.

The eyes of history are upon us and the weight of our own consciences. Will we fail at this moment of history and allow ourselves to slip ever so much more closely into an authoritarian-like existence. One we all once talked so bravely about never allowing on our shores. Or will we have the courage equal to the challenge that this moment of history has thrown upon us?

Hillary And Bill: We Aren't Going Anywhere

I always figured I would be a Hillary person. I always felt she was much more likely to actually be a liberal in comparison to her husband and separate herself from his policies.(NAFTA, most favored trade status for China, Iraq sanctions which were murderous to the children, etc...)

I had always hoped she would approach her misguided vote in Iraq in some manner similar to Senator Edwards. I was greatly disappointed when she embraced the terrorism vote on Iran while once again failing to realize it would be used in the march to war by the Bushies and their Neocons.

She boldly hid behind group ignorance on the WMD issue in Iraq without many in opposition that I"ve heard of, raising the point that that was no valid excuse for invasion. It was well known from the times of desert storm of the multiple problems that would emerge from an invasion of Iraq, as it was also well known that Al Qeada was not involved in Iraq. It was also evident that we would be turning our backs on, running away from, the people of Afghanistan, our very public promises to them, our duty to justice for the people who died on that dreadful day, the conservatives so love to repeat, to bring to justice those who really did attack us. posted 03/29/2008 at 11:54:02

For me the most important problems, disasters would probably be a better word, facing our nation is;
.
The occupation of Iraq along with all the serious infrastructure, health and refugee (both external and internal) problems inflicting the people of the country we shocked and awed;
.
A return to Constitutional order in the USA;
.
And our status in the world which affects us both diplomatically and economically.
.
I see Obama as dealing with all of the above much better than Hillary while being better to equal to the tasks involving domestic issues like shared economic prosperity for all of America.
.
Obama will be able to motivate the halls and aisles of Congress far better. posted 03/28/2008 at 23:37:33

4000 US Soldiers Killed In Iraq

Everything these guys said was wrong at best but most commonly were lies mixed with distortions. The people against this war were right in their characterization of what the outcome would be. They were ignored and called traitors and cowards when they should have been listened to. Listen to them now when they speak against current and future military misadventures (Iran) because their voices carry more truth than the voices of the egocentric chicken hawks in the Bush administration.

Bin Laden is still free and we"re bogged down in a country that didn"t attack us and was no threat to our national security. Our military does not deserve to be run into a pit because this administration refuses to admit they were wrong. This occupation is making us weaker. I believe they know it, too. There's no success in Iraq without a political solution and reconciliation between all groups including rights for women that keeps them from extremists fundamentalist oppression.

Maura Harty: State Department Official In Charge During Breaches An Ambassador Under Clinton

Hillary and her husbands sadly fading legacy have embraced the concept of 'the end justifies the means'. That's another Noecon/Rovian principle that caused us to run away from the war on those who attacked us and the promises we made to Afghanistan which landed us in preemptive war and a misguided nation building occupation in Iraq. She participated in that type of hazardous thinking when she voted for the Iraq war and when she voted to give Bush the excuse from Congress he needed to ' Shock and Awe' Iran.

She is now demonstrating that she continues to embrace risky 'end justifies the means' method of problem solving.
