Countdown to Colbert: Any Advice?

By all means, pay a compliment to his mother and/or his hometown, Charleston SC. Even better, reminisce about your last visit to Charleston. Sure fire way to get him to talk and take the spotlight off you for a few minutes, plus you'll look like a nice guy. posted 05/15/2008 at 17:53:23

Did Limbaugh Try To Incite Violence?

I wanted to vote for Stephen Colbert, but the Democratic Party wouldn't let me. So there. posted 05/07/2008 at 18:30:09
Please don't forget to include Roseanne Barr's comment "we should a bunch of us go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago. Like, let"s just cause a bunch of trouble."
The chaos that Limbaugh is looking for is exactly what you labelled it - political chaos. That is something very different from physical chaos which would include violence and vandalism. To imply that Limbaugh is calling for genocide ala Rwanda shows exactly what you think of not just the entertainer, but also his audience. Rational voters can grasp the concept of using their vote to determine a political outcome, and understand that by simply voting in a fashion that leaves the Democratic Party paralyzed, they create chaos enough to accomplish their goal of electing a Republican President in November.
Roseanne is the one who advocated getting physical bodies on buses to show up at the Convention and cause physical confrontations. posted 05/07/2008 at 13:08:38

Yes, They Can

Eric Fox, Sandy Hume, Danny Casolaro, Dr. Ronald Rogers, John A. Wilson, Gandy Baugh, Mary Mahoney, Suzanne Coleman, Judy Gibbs, Gary Johnson, Kathy Ferguson, Bill Shelton, James McDougal, Vince Foster, Jon Walker, Johnny Franklin Laughton Jr., Theodore Williams Jr., Ronald Miller, Ed Willey, Barbara Alice Wise, Jerry Parks, Victor Raiser II, Herschel Friday, Ron Brown, Charles Meissner, Mohamed Ferrat, Stanley Huggins, Paul Wilcher... the list goes on.
And those were just people who had dirt on the Clintons (allegedly). posted 05/03/2008 at 14:14:10

You Can't Look Like a Pin-Up and Eat Like a Linebacker

I'd like to make an example of myself - not to dispute your article, but to say that it is possible for a small person to eat like a linebacker.
I'm 32, and weigh 130lbs. Since I was 14 years old, I haven't gone up or down more than 15 pounds. I eat constantly, in fact, I'm constantly hungry. Fried eggs, bacon, toast and jam with homefries is a great breakfast (though on Sundays I'll make eggs benedict). Lunch can be anything. Double cheesburgers from McD's (actually very low calorie, high protein) or a cheese and pate du jour plate at the local French bistro. Dinners are high protein, steaks, sushi, usually with several helpings of beer or wine. Then, late night, I snack. Bowls of cereal, chocolate bars, ice cream. I eat pretty much whenever and whatever I want. Does it amaze my friends? Yes. Am I surprised, No.
My mother was a Phys Ed. instructor, and taught me that you can eat whatever, just as long as you exercise. My routine, one hour on a bike, everyday, and I walk whenever possible. People are blown away when I tell them my real age, they all assume that I'm ten years younger.
My point is, when an article like this is written, people make skinny little me feel like I'm the one with a disorder. But I'm the one with the healthy lifestyle, active and well-fed. posted 04/27/2008 at 18:20:24

Saving the Woods is Class Prejudice

You have tried to convince the property owners not to develop, and you have tried to enlist others to help. It would seem the next step is to put your money where your mouth is: offer to buy the property. Once you own it, you can ensure that it is preserved in the fashion you think best. There are plenty of ways to do that, such as setting up a non-profit or a foundation, or asking for help from a conservation organization. Right now you seem defeatist, when you've only begun to act. Green space is valuable, but economics is not a zero-sum game. You must make a case that there is value in preserving the forest (and pointing out that homeless live there is not the best tactic). How much fresh air does the forest create? How much sound pollution does it absorb? What kind of flora and fauna does it support? Get off your duff, get organized, and try to buy the land. If it's going to mini-warehouses, it couldn't be that expensive... posted 04/18/2008 at 12:49:15
