Reverend Vows To Push Obama To Make "Abortion Reduction" A Dem Party Platform

Some of the least "accepting" people I've ever known have been secularists in the Democratic Party.

Jim Wallis is a good man and stands solidly on more progressive than conservative issues. Just because Christians want to REDUCE the number of abortions doesn't mean that they want to make it illegal to have an abortion. posted 06/26/2008 at 12:02:42

my favorite of his bits is about the medical industry and the hiv/aids crisis (and i'm a member of the latter community)...his point is well-made. if we wanted to cure aids (and almost any other life-threatening disease), we could. he says we haven't "cured" anything since polio. there's no money in the cure...the money's in the treatment.

there are a great number of christian democrats whose voices are always drowned out by the secularist wing of the democratic party. we have as much right to talk about our faith as those without a faith-based POV, especially in OPEN political forums like huffpost!

as long as democrats lump all people of faith in the same category, we'll never reach out to those that would find our party's core values very alluring.

i wouldn't say "only".

the right has made much more political hay out of their blind hatred for the GLBT community and protecting the "sanctity" of marriage (while remaining ostensibly deaf on the issue of heterosexual divorce and adultery) than reproductive rights.case in point: how many abortion-abolishment amendments have we seen as ballot referendums? yup, ZERO. however, state after state gets an anti-gay partnership amendment on the ballot to whip up conservative voters...just sayin'...

...sadly, we now have a bunch of Shillary supporters willing to sacrifice Roe v. Wade to spite our Party's nominee. I just came from the Dem. State Convention in Austin, TX. today and you could feel the resentment from the Shillary supporters. posted 06/06/2008 at 22:40:14

Angry Clinton Supporters Start Rallying For McCain

I hope Hale lost his delegate status prior to the convention. In Texas, we take a pledge to support the Party unconditionally. That extends to our candidates, as well. By saying that he would never vote for Obama (even if Hillary's on the ticket), he's violated that oath.

I suppose a 63-year old self-described "redneck" just isn't that concerned about the implications of a McSame misadministration...primarily the loss of reproductive choice. Congratulations, Mr. Hale, I hope you and your like-minded, blinded-by-hatred Hillary supporters are happy with the potential chaos you're trying to create. posted 06/08/2008 at 10:35:37

Obama Win Appears Big In Texas Delegate Battle

"Please move a bit faster," urged delegate Whitney Larkins, who attended the largest senatorial district in Fort Worth gathered at the Will Rogers Coliseum. "Have some consideration. Think about those of us who took time out of our lives to participate in this."

Note to Mr. Larkins:

With all due respect, sir, who the hell do you think put on your County Convention?

Those of us who volunteered our time spent HOURS in training sessions (learning the process that both the HRC and BHO camps did their best to usurp) prior to the conventions, arrived HOURS before the delegates and stayed long after you were gone to ensure that all the paperwork was handled properly. In some of the smaller counties (like mine), we were there at least 4 hours before the convention to set up chairs and tables and after all the paperwork was done, the same bunch of volunteers stayed to put away those tables and chairs and made sure the hall was left as we found it, so as to insure that the County Party got its deposit back.

Those of us who did the "grunt work" didn't leave and have a party while you were impatiently waiting at your convention. We were doing the same thing as you...Just with a little more appreciation for the amount of work that goes into such an event.

Hopefully, in 2 years, more people like yourself will volunteer to do the backbreaking work of putting on a convention. posted 03/31/2008 at 14:37:40
