Celebrity Passport Files Frequently Breached

That's assuming you accept their "we were just curious" routine.

Who knows how many records were actually breached? Or why? posted 07/04/2008 at 03:33:30

My Position On FISA

Dear Senator Obama:

I'm a liberal Democrat, descended from a long line of liberal Democrats. So you can imagine how difficult it is for me to say how angry, hurt and disappointed I am in the Democratic Party. The Democrataic Party, as it is now, is only slightly less dangerous than the Republican Party.

Come November, I will not be voting for you. I will be voting against McCain. Not out of loyalty to the Democratic Party, but my loyalty to this country. This is a position that many of my friends are taking to the election. Something today's Republicans can not or will not understand.

Benjamin Franklin said "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." This is the slippery slope this country is headed down. You would do well to keep that in mind and to do whatever it takes to keep it from happening. posted 07/04/2008 at 15:08:16

Bush On Energy Crisis: "It Took Us A While To Get Into This Energy Situation We're In, It's Gonna Take Us A While To Get Out Of It" (VIDEO)

"It took us a while to get into the energy situation we're in, it's gonna take us a while to get out of it."

Meaning...

"I created one hell of a mess, and once again, it's someone else's problem to clean it up."

Bush is the circus elephant, shitting everywhere he goes. The rest of us are the sweepers following along behind him. posted 07/02/2008 at 14:36:01

GOP's Teresa Heinz Kerry Attacks Come Back To Bite With Cindy

Not a "non-story." The elite spending millions of dollars on themselves. How much have they given to others? I'd like to know what kind of charitable donations they've made: how much and to whom. Assuming they give anything at all. posted 07/02/2008 at 15:20:53

Oliver Stone's "W": A Visit Behind The Scenes

Apologies. This was intended as a comment to Amanda85's posting below. posted 06/30/2008 at 20:51:08
You're comparing apples and oranges. "World Trade Center" was not about politics, terrorism, or who was right vs. who was wrong. It was a human interest story, focusing on how one horrific event effected one small group of people.

"W," from what I understand (not having read the screenplay), goes in the other direction, shining a spotlight on one individual who irrevocably changed world history, and America's place in it.

Whatever you may think of Oliver Stone's politics or perspective, "W" will not be a "hatchet job." Oliver will present George Bush as he sees him, giving us his view of the man. You may not agree with Oliver's vision of Bush, and that's your right. But that does not make his view any less valid. posted 06/30/2008 at 19:33:23

Sunday Roundup

Pull your head out of the sand and look around (i.e., try getting your "news" from someone other than Fox).

The so-called "main stream media" is deeply buried in the Rights' pocket.

When Obama becomes president, and announces the return of the "Fairness Doctrine" (passed into law by Congress, not an easily reversed Presidential order), you can bet Fox with their "fair and balanced" reporting will be screaming the loudest, trying to stop it. Forced into honesty, presenting the American people with all sides of every issue, will put them out of business. posted 06/29/2008 at 19:00:19

FearWatch '08: Keeping an Eye Out for GOP Fear-Mongering

Reminding the people the Republicans are trying to scare us into voting for them isn't enough. The Democrats need to hammer home the fact that fear is the ONLY thing the Republicans have to offer.

All the Republicans care about is power, and they've proven time again they're willing to do whatever it takes to get it and keep it. They'd obliterate the lot of us and gladly, except they need the "serf class" to do the dirty jobs they won't touch with their lily white hands.

A great man once said, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." We need to remember that. posted 06/28/2008 at 20:09:22

McCain Adviser: Another Attack on U.S. Would Be "Big Advantage" For McCain

What's so "tin foil hat" about it? I've been saying the same thing for the last 7-1/2 years. I've yet to have someone tell me it can't happen. posted 06/23/2008 at 17:30:23

McClellan: Bush, Cheney Wanted Me To Say Libby Wasn't Involved In CIA Leak Case (VIDEO)

I agree impeachment should never have been taken "off the table." Unfortunately, this late in the game, what's the point? There's no way impeachment hearings could be concluded before the end of the Bush's term (assuming he doesn't pull a fast one, say with an "October surprise," "forcing" him to cancel the elections).

However, the statute of limitations on the Bush cabals' myriad criminal offenses do not run out with the end of his term. Long prison sentences are not off the table. posted 06/20/2008 at 14:22:26

Obama Team Weighs Nunn, Edwards As Running Mates

Not Edwards, for sure.

Edwards was my first choice for President. If I can't have him in the top spot, I want him has Attorney General.

Given Edwards' experience as a successful trial attorney, I can't think of anyone better to clean up the mess Bush and his cronies made of the Justice system. posted 06/20/2008 at 13:44:56

McCain: Guantanamo Decision One Of the Worst Ever

This is what it's come to. The laws apply only to those who follow lock-step with everything the neocons want and will gladly walk off a cliff if told to. The rest of us will get locked up in concentration camps, never to be seen or heard from again.

The laws MUST apply to everyone, or they mean nothing. posted 06/13/2008 at 19:38:00

Looking For A Women's Candidate? Check For Daughters

Sometimes the reverse is true. My paternal grandfather's mother and sister were both misogynists. Their hatred of themselves and their own sex was so profound, they sent my grandmother a nasty, scathing letter the day she came home from the hospital after giving birth to her first child, chastising her for presenting their "precious boy" with a female child.

My grandparents produced and raised three (two girls, one boy) strong, intelligent, independent children. They, in turn, produced seven (three girls, four boys) strong, intelligent, independent children.

Is it possible to learn by example? Of course. But it's also possible to be thoroughly disgusted by the example and go in the opposite direction. posted 06/16/2008 at 19:22:20

Jon Favreau Makes Plea About "Iron Man 2"

I've never been into movies based on comic books, but "Ironman" is brilliant. Well written, well acted, well directed. I've already seen it twice.

If the people who actually physically make the film need more time to produce a good product, they should have it. We've all seen what happens when a film is rushed into the theatres before it's ready. posted 06/10/2008 at 15:17:22

Republicans Block Extra Taxes On Oil Companies

Once again, the Republicans have proven their loyalty is the Republican party and big corporations. Not the people a/k/a their employers.

It's time they were all fired. posted 06/10/2008 at 14:31:03

McClellan To Testify Before Judiciary Committee

McClellan should watch his back and surround himself with bodyguards (without connections to the Secret Service).

Given Bush & Co.'s criminal history and their propensity for shutting down anyone who dares go against them, I would not be at all surprised if McClellan suffered an "accident" before he can testify. posted 06/09/2008 at 18:25:36

John McCain's First Wife Speaks Out

John Edwards: I Have No Interest In Being Vice President

Obama would be a fool not to nominate Edwards for Attorney General (and Obama is no fool).

Actually, I kind of feel sorry for Bush and his criminal gang of thugs. With Obama in the White House, and Edwards as the most powerful prosecutor in the country, these poor fools will have no place to hide. If they stay here, they risk being arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned for a whole myriad of crimes, not the least of which is treason. If they flee the country, hide out someplace where there's no extradition treaty, they risk getting renditioned to the Hague, or more likely, some hell hole or "black ops" site. posted 06/06/2008 at 15:31:01

McGovern: Hard to Elect Female President

For years, I've believed this country would elect a black president before it elected a woman president.

My opinion has nothing to do with the current individuals currently running. It's basic history. Black's were emancipated in this country long before women were. posted 03/26/2008 at 14:35:44

Chelsea Clinton Has Quick Response For Lewinsky Question

Until and unless it effects their ability to do their job, a politician's personal life is not the public's business. Both Bill and Hillary rose above the "scandal," and that should be the end of it.

Who her father had sex with (or whatever you want to call it) isn't even Chelsea's business. Chelsea said exactly the right thing. posted 03/26/2008 at 13:47:26
