"You Don't Quit Until You Finish What You Started"

I remember Bill was once asked what his greatest political skill was. His reply? "I'm dogged. I don't quit."
That's how a guy from his nothing background became the most respected political force in his generation.

Of course Hillary was with Bill throughout and obviously has the same work ethic. I admire her for not giving up. It shows what kind of president she would make.

That said, she is not going to win now, and so, I think she's in the throws of coming to grips with this dream that didn't happen. posted 05/18/2008 at 03:39:37

Tennessee GOP Attacks Michelle Obama, Obama Camp Hits Back

How do you fire back from Michelle's statement. "For the FIRST TIME in my ENTIRE ADULT LIFE, I am proud of my country."

Why? Because her husband is leading in the vote to make her the next First Lady.

This was in two speeches y'all! I think it showed her for someone really, seriously not what we are being sold.

John Edwards Endorses Obama... GOP Prospects "Worst Since Watergate"

Readers, take note of the replies to this post. Are they thoughtful? Do they have quality points to make???

No! Obama is a mirage of projected hopes and assumptions based on nice speeches and good looks. NO accomplishments in office of national significance, the smallest resume of ANY presidential candidate from either party EVER. NO military experience, even as he will become Commander in Chief during a war.

But these things don't matter, because he's so friggnin cool!

Your post is a testament to the value of America in the world. We can influence our own lives through our vote and through those leaders we elect.

Thing is, we need to make sure those leaders are the right ones, and not more, or less, than they seem.

I worry about Obama because there is so very little of big signifigance in his political record. I for one do not consider inexperience to be some bragging point. And I would encourage you to be hopeful, but pragmatic about the direction of the country.

McCain Strongly Rejected Long-Term Iraq Presence: "Bring Them All Home"

Like Al Gore's mutated "I invented the internet" story, this one also doesn't jibe with reality.
McCain's "hundred years" statement is about doing whatever it takes to leave without having Iraq implode-which is something I imagine many on this website would like to see, unfortunately.

I WAS AGAINST the Iraq war from the very beginning! I think Bush shouls be in jail with Cheney, Rice, Wolfowitz and the whole lot for "sexing up" the intel to lie us into this mess. BUT, I do not want to make up for that by leaving right this minute and having the place turn into a regional civil war, etc.

McCain is simply letting our enemies know we aren't leaving until Iraq is stable, and 4000 dead would be a waste PARTICULARLY if we left too soon and the bad guys took over. (Then we would probably have to go back anyway!)
I think that's why Hillary has been careful about keeping options open on Iraq. We have to do the right thing there, and just running away is NOT the right thing! How about rebuild the country! How about getting rid of Halliburton and KBR! How about making this war not-for-profit!
I think all three candidates could go along with that. posted 04/29/2008 at 01:51:20

Long Primary Damaging Democrats

Get real! This isn't a f*cking balloon ride! It's real, gritty and detailed.
Rest your "hopes" on your own damned value, and make sure the government does only a few important things; defends us, provides laws we live by, provides quality education (with little outside interference), protects the environment, and a basic safety net for those who hit hard times.

That is what MUST be done, and even McCain agrees on those issues.

So debate on national health care, and evacuating Iraq in less time than the other candidate...
Ridiculous. posted 04/24/2008 at 03:10:33

It sounds hysterical in a general election. The voters in the recent staes are starting to realize, change is not always a promise that good things will happen. Change to what? Ineptitude and incompetence and stubborness on the left to make up for the last seven years?

Here's the deal, Obama floats above all this with flowery rhetoric and visionary slogans, while his minions, like you, cast more bile than anyone in the campaign. Just look at the posts on this website! posted 04/23/2008 at 10:39:43
Looks like you are the one injecting race into this message board.
I guess little items like two years experience in the senate (the least experience in a national profile office of any serious candidate EVER), no private sector experience at all, no executive government experience, no experience that qualifies him to be Commander in Chief, and no accomplishments of importance in the Senate should just be overlooked because Obama is such a terrific speaker?

I live and happily work in an extremely diverse community, and where I am, experience and a proven record count for something. Obama chose to run too soon in his career in my opinion. (So did Hillary.) And despite his obvious political skill, once in office, a president needs to govern, and Obama's record there is positive, but very, very small.

Would you trust the least experienced surgeon to operate on your sick child? Would you trust a pilot with the least experience to fly your plane? I will chose for President someone I would hire for President if they came to an interview with a resume.
Obama is an attracive candidate, but I haven't seen enough, beyond grand speeches, that prooves he is qualified to fix the country after Bush's mess.

The Loser In Pennsylvania: The Democratic Party

Pull every soldier out of Iraq right now, and they will have died for a civil war throughout the Middle East.

Bush should be in jail for his lies and deceit which led us into this bad war, which I opposed from day one. BUT, now that there is no longer a government in Iraq capable of running things and keeping a lid on sectarian violence with region-wide influence and players, we cannot leave for some time to come.

I say, blame Bush, but do right by the Iraqis and the soldiers too, and FIX the damned place. Get rid of the war profiteers like Halliburton and KBR and return those jobs to the military, and rebuild the country's infrastructure; the water, electricity, schools, roads. Well whenever I bring up the problems with Obama, it's usually assumed I support Hillary, which I don't. I don't care if the Democrats self destruct now. They have managed to pull out of their stupid caucuses the two worst general election candidates they could have, not to mention two, either of whom would make terribly divisive presidents.

Despite your ham-handed ridicule, I will explain that the article we are posting about on Huffington Post is about Hillary playing the "Osama Card", as though the very idea of her raising the issue of the terrorist is just a cynical ploy to scare people away from Obama.

Well perhaps she wants to point out the very real fact that Osama is still alive, still plots to kill YOU and me, and might get a chance to do it again, and she thinks she's ready to fight him and his organization.

The Obama Post, as it should be rightly called, simply refuses to let Hillary make her case (and I'm not a supporter of hers). This entire website seems bent on annointing this fellow as Elvis reborn, Jesus and MLK all rolled into one, ready to fix the universe, even though his record is as bare as a spinster's cupboard!

Whatever! Delude yourself.
I will not take pleasure is saying "I told you so" in four years should this huckster get elected. But as someone who really loves the country, I will hope his time in office is successful for the country and the world, though I'm not naive about his prospects. posted 04/22/2008 at 01:30:35

That's what real change is, a nifty guy with smooth speeches and a hip way about himself, surrounded by swooning sychophants. That is what is needed in our next president. Private sector experience? Not important; he'll lead the economy through intuition. Military experience? Not important; he was always against the Iraq war, that's all you need to know. Executive experience? Now, I need to ask: What experience does Obama have in the private sector as a businessman or entrepreneur, what record of achievement? None. OK, so what record does he have in the military that would make him a plausible Commander in Chief? Nothing. Well, what about his executive experience as, say a governor, or mayor of a major city, or major cabinet secretary? Nada.

What makes this guy the best candidate for Commander in Chief? (Even I was opposed to the Iraq war, but I don't feel that alone qualfies me to be president.)

I am not a "basher" of Obama. I just think he is not ready with his puny resume to be the guy who might make decisions that effect mine and my families lives for generations as president. He has no real record of significant accomplishments, yet his church is controversial (what about Mitt Romney...) However, his wife is FINALLY proud of her country (USA), now that Barak is doing well in the primary vote, how cool is that! posted 04/05/2008 at 03:36:28
I don't support Hillary. I wanted Biden, or Dodd, or Richardson who was also my first choice. Biden, I thought, was terrific in the debates, as was Dodd. Richardson was wheezy and looked like he had a stomach ache all the time. Edwards is just to preppy to convince people his dad was a mill worker and it translated to him.

So now we're left with Obama and Hillary, and I am so disappointed that either of them even ran this time! They BOTH should have waited this one out so the country could get to know them. But the press, that corporate owned press we feared we would have when it was opened up to monopolies, GAVE US Hillary and Obama, and killed Dodd and Biden from the start. How criminal!

I don't trust either Obama or Clinton, and I don't like the way they think. And despite my serious disagreements with McCain about taxes and healthcare, I do think he has been couragious on the environmental issues I care about, and he is also in favor of the Geneva Conventions' rules preventing torture, and he authored campaign finance reform bills with Russ Feingold, much to the chagrin of his GOP colleagues.

In the end, I think I'll probably vote for McCain, THE REPUBLICAN! (I would have bet a thousand bucks I wouldn't do that six months ago...) posted 04/05/2008 at 03:08:37
Courage to trust a guy with less experience than any person who has run for the job, ever? Sorry pal, your self assurance is not enough for me. In fact, it makes me wonder; how have you come to be so transfixed by this man with such a puny resume of significant executive or national experience?

It is clear to me people, including Obama himself, are projecting their hopes and dreams onto this man, yet there is a bigger reality which I just know will eat the poor guy, you, me, and our country alive should we be so unfortunate as to find him in office next January. This is an American Idol contest, when it should be an investment as careful as one would make when buying a house. Safety first!

After all, we are electing a Commander in Chief, not a homecoming king! This guy has NOTHING in his history to tell us he can lead; no executive experience, no private sector accomplishments, little major legislative record. Only fancy talk and good looks. DAMN! It's not that I don't like the guy, I just would like someone more seasoned to fix the country. I foresee an Obama presdency of do-nothing photo-ops and sychophancy, and ham fisted stumbling in foreign affairs and clumsy responses to crises at home because of hubris, inexperiece, and impracticality based on a utopian idealism that does not work in the real word!

Obama is a mistake, for Democrats and America. posted 04/05/2008 at 02:51:30
"Sparky"? Who's that?
FYI, I actually am an independent, who rooted for Richardson until he showed himself to be a terrible candidate. And then Biden, who was quite good, but got buried by the Obama-Hillary juggernaught...
And now I am leaning towards McCain, YES MCCAIN! You know why? Because I lived through the Jimmy Carter years of leftist incompetence and hand wringing, and now eight years of Bush incompetence, (Iraq was a mistake, made worse by insufficient investment of people and support). And I do not want to live through any more years of short sighted know-it-alls running this country! I want BORING COMPETENCE! Not exciting idealism! I'll make MY OWN DREAMS, thank you very much! I don't need a leader to make them for me. And, by the way, Obama is very damned liberal; that's why you like him of couse. HERE'S PROOF!

Obama gets the gravy from the Clinton train.
If Bill Clinton had not won in 1992, we would have probably had a continuous Bush/GOP run of wins for years! You think Paul Tsongas would have won in 1992???

Geez people! The Democrats just LOVE to eat their own!

I don't like Hillary much, but Obama and his Koolaid drinkers really scare me! "Change" to what? He's the most liberal voter in the Senate. But he claims to be a unifier. Yet his supporters are the rudest, loudest and most sychophantic of all the politicos I have seen.

What I want is a COMPETENT, EXPERIENCED and REAL president. I do not want a rock star, or fashion model. I want a real leader, and I know it's not Obama! posted 04/05/2008 at 02:06:43

Nicolas Cage Wins Apology And Damages From Kathleen Turner

Kathleen Turner was a seriously over-rated leading lady, in my opinion.

And dishing out insults about her coworkers will not make her any more likable. posted 04/04/2008 at 09:06:49

Obama Casts Race Between Him, McCain

What are Obama's credentials for Commander in Chief of the most powerful military in the history of the world?

Community organizer? Glad hand? Hail fellow-well-met?

What a joke! When the f--ckin BOOT FALLS I don't want a Harvard paper editor deciding what's going to happen next!

Obama is NOT ready for the job, except in the photo-ops. posted 04/02/2008 at 01:02:40

Gore Launches $300 Million Climate Change Initiative

Good God, Al Gore is such a great man! What a president he would make!

Compared to the two pitiful sloganeers we have now running for the Democrats, he just towers!

Would that the Democratic Party had the good sense to create a Gore/Obama ticket. But alas they specialize, as I have written many times before, in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. posted 03/31/2008 at 01:29:40

Time Mag Cover: "How Al Gore Could Save The Democrats"

It's tragic that Gore didn't decide to run this time. He is true presidential material, unlike Clinton and Obama.
The Democrats have winnowed the field of all the viable candidates and now the nation is left with the very likely prospect of living with another Republican presidency. (I will say though, I do not think McCain would represent a third Bush term at all.) posted 03/30/2008 at 14:10:42

Hillary's Approval Rating Plummets In NBC/WSJ Poll

Who's a fake Republican? I'm an independent, have been for years, and this charade occuring in your party is a perfect example of why!

Here you have GW Bush, the worst president in history, presiding over a country that is on the ropes in practically every way, and the best the Dems can come up with is a woman with more skeletons in her closet than an undertaker, and a guy who has the experience of a serious candidate for alderman. Unbelievable! posted 03/27/2008 at 09:20:03
If LA were nuked by the Islamists, or China invaded Taiwan, or Pakistan and India went to war, or Russia invaded Ukraine, or Venezuela attacked Columbia, or any other number of possibilities were to occur, who would you like as Commander in Chief who would tell our sons and daughters to go and fight? Obama or McCain?

You think Obama has the balls to fight? I see no proof he would. He has NO record of doing much of anything, except 'bringing people together'. (Yawn) Well the world is a real place, not fodder for blubbering sychophants, and that seems to be what the Democrats are about these days. Unbelievable!

So I guess it's McCain! But I still intend to vote Dem in the congressional races. posted 03/27/2008 at 02:00:03
What a pathetic party the Democrats are!
They won lst November and have been pathetic in Congress. Then they had these great, seasoned candidates with serious credentials and they jettisoned them for these two WORST choices in terms of actual ability to be leaders! Two worthless rock stars!

What a joke the Democratic Party is!

At least McCain is right on climate change... And I think he actually hates Bush, but just won't admit it right now, given the current stakes. (Wouldn't you, after 2000?) posted 03/27/2008 at 01:44:58

Another Bill Clinton Moment On The Campaign Trail

"For the FIRST TIME in my adult life, I am proud of my country." Michelle Obama, speaking of her husband's rising popularity a couple of months ago.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with questioning Obama, Hillary, McCain on matters having to do with their patriotism and personal history. And when those questions are asked, people in the Obama camp cry foul-why is that? Let's hear about Reverend Wright, Reverend Hagee, and whoever Hillary's preacher is too! Let's find out about their past, their experiences, their personal stories!

In the end, I think McCain will beat Barak in a walk away. Ever wondered why McCain's arms look so odd? Do a web search and find out. posted 03/22/2008 at 14:26:43
I agree. posted 03/22/2008 at 14:18:19
The Democratic Party has ruined its chance to win in November.
The only hope is for the convention to choose Al Gore. That might work, otherwise, the Dems are done. posted 03/22/2008 at 13:14:08

Mayhem At Fox News: Anchor Walks Off Set, Wallace Rails Network For "Obama-Bashing"

Obamanites have the thinnest skins of any supporters in any campaign I have ever seen. Politics is serious business, and Obamanites can dish it out (remember the Hillary as Orwell's Big Brother ad), but they squeal like stuck pigs if they get any flak aimed in the direction of their Messiah.

Pathetic. posted 03/21/2008 at 21:04:29

Bill Clinton And Jeremiah Wright Photo Uncovered

SO WHAT! Bill Clinton shook hands with hundreds of thousands of people.

He wasn't a member of Wright's church. He wasn't married by Wright. He didn't have his children baptized by Wright, and Wright is no "Uncle" to Bill Clinton!

This is pure PANIC on the part of the Obamanites. posted 03/21/2008 at 03:22:49
