Enlightened people will modify thier behavior in order to participate in a civil society. Name calling is not civil - period. Name callers expect someone else to give them a civil society but they will not practice civility willingly on their own in order to create a civil society.

The other thing that makes me crazy is that many of the little working class towns in Wisconsin have had to learn how to cater to the wealthy class and become tourist or "up north" vacation destinations. Is that what will become of America? Instead of doing honest work that supports our American community will we be reduced to serfs who have to turn our homes into tourist attractions? Isn't this also what we did to the Native Americans? Atheists underestimate the power of religion to manipulate the minds needed to shore up thier worldly power. It's not about God or Jesus - God and Jesus are just constructs these guys use to manipulate people. It's more useful to understand someones need for God/Jesus without judgement so that you can convince them they don't need a religion or church at all to make their peace with diety (real or imagined). Everyone involved should be loyal to the Democratic party and not to a faction or person in the party. We should be loyal to the platform that we all want to see. I agree with PRDAmerica's 1st paragraph. Fine if GWB wants to be loyal to Brownie but can't he find a less damaging way to do it than put him in charge of FEMA?

If I were a black woman, seeing my country come together to transcend it's racist past to vote for a biracial man would make me feel very proud to be a part of the "WHOLE" country instead of just my corner of the country. She has every right to feel proud for the first time! As I meet up with more and more young people who just don't have the "fear of the other" sick attitude problem of the otherwise fine American's who raised me, I too am proud for the first time. We do have alot to be proud of in our country but right wingers must come out of their denial that we don't also have alot to be ashamed of. Lets start with shock and awe - I've never been more ashamed of my country than in that moment. Deeply deeply ashamed. Of course I'm going to give my vote to the one candidate who was against it from the beginning.

Here's something else I'm ashamed of. People who believe in soundbites and don't do the research to find out the context from which it came. Good Christians who practice the kind of "judgement" Christ warned against.

God bless Mrs Obama for committing herself to benefitting the black community. I want all of my countrymen/women to be fully engaged in the pursuit of happiness so that I can live in a country of thriving and contented people.

The people slamming Obama for loving someone he vehemently disagrees with on some points while remaining committed to a church that does great things in it's community in spite of the firestorm need to really examine their own consciences.
