I think the majority of non-African Americans miss the point of this. If the Clintons ran a campaign based on issues rather than suggestive pandering to the good ole boy beer drinking "blue collar", over 70, "I want to be the first woman" crowd than this would not be an issue. If Clinton had ran her campaign as, for example, my Healthcare vs. Obama's then this would not be an issue. Instead it's the he's an elitist "kid" (or boy), with fairy tales, who is arrogant (or uppity), you know Jesse Jackson won SC (so did Edwards). You can't disrespect the African American Community, by pandering to latent racist/racism, and expect they will all be good boys and girls and vote for you anyway. Barack Obama is multiracial and has tried his hardest to make this about the issues but is constantly having to defend himself, and consequently brought down to his opponents level (which was her goal).

There were plenty of opportunities for Barack to pander to AAs, if that was his goal. "State of the Black Union" Barack passed it up, Hillary was there. Barack was Indiana campaigning during the recognition of MLK's assassination and many in the black community criticized him for not doing the political thing and giving photo ops in Memphis like Hillary and McCain (who voted against the king holiday). If it wasn't this distraction, it would be something else. Obama has said it time and time again, yes he is a politician, but he doesn't play by Hillary or McCain rules. There are a lot of instances where he could have attacked Hillary on personal issues, but chose to be diplomatic. He has been campaigning against 3 people for months Hillary, Bill, and McCain, and Barack is still standing. He hasn't cracked much to the dismay of his opponents and their supporters.
