I grew up in a small town in Central Illinois, literally in the middle of a cornfield, population 4,200. Think about that in terms of the number of soldiers we've lost in Iraq, including one of my high school classmate's sons.

I've been a journalist for 14 years mainly on college and weekly papers. I always knew I could write and decided to pursue journalism degrees. I wanted to write stories that would help people who needed it, including keeping politicians in check and calling them on it when they needed it.

I'm an Obama supporter and only came to support him after I did my homework. I think he is the only one who can lead this country out of the quagmire we're in.
