Lou Drew Indicted In Missouri MySpace Suicide Case

If this doesn't qualify as child molestation, we need to revisit the legal definition. I hope Drew's child is getting some meaningful counseling regarding the degree and methods of her mother's "protectionism". What other interferences has Mom been running around her daughters life? What other depredations may have been commited over the years towards this girls other friends? This is no less bizarre or devious then the Texas cheerleader mother. posted 05/16/2008 at 08:56:20

SATIRIST HONORS GEORGE BUSH'S GOLF SACRIFICE BY GIVING UP SATIRICAL COLUMN

I am so impressed with what Bush has sacrificed. I took his advice and I am still shopping, having plunged myself into deep credit card debt. It really was the least I could do. I have covered my walls with flat screen TV's, even inside my closets. I guess, to keep in solidarity with hi , I will give up playing "Risk". One doltish megalomaniac is probably enough. Being so in debt, I haven't the money to join a canned hunting club, like Dick, but I can shoot fish in a barrel and that will also show my commitment to the NRA. Rumsfeld On 2006 Election: "The Correction For That...Is An Attack"

Add this to the 2000 PNAC line about the need for a "Pearl Harbor type" attack in order to avoid years of massaging public opinion to get us to the point where we will be compliant with their wildest dreams and you see the necessity of the message force multipliers. I don't for a second believe they were in on the planning of 911. That said, it was mighty conveniant and consistent with their desires. And they just couldn't begin to understand the meaning of a PDB entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within the U.S." Traitors all, and I wont say much better about their apologists and followers. Sue Simmons (Video): New York NBC Anchor Screams "What The F*** Are You Doing?" In On-Air Promo

It will go on her permanent record and when God comes down from heaven, (Soon, I am sure.), to judge us all, he will look her up and damn her to the fires of eternal damnation. She hath uttered one of those powerful nasty prohibited words that certainly fall into the category of cardinal sin. Decent hard working Americans are all teary eyed and blushing just knowing someone on TV has said a dirty word. Children across the nation are pestering their parents with embarrassing questions. When someone curses so casually, god only knows what perverse thoughts she indulges in. Not only children, we all must be protected from the likes of Sue Simmons and those of her ilk. Banish her from the airwaves and all public spaces. Brand her with a red 'C' so others can shield their children when she approaches with her dirty thoughts and words. People who use language like that likely have sex for fun and not just procreation. When they are sent off to hell we should refrain from pointing and laughing. Gloating is so unbecoming of good Christians. Pardon me, I must go pray to a long dead saint. I must repent for having read the word in the article. posted 05/13/2008 at 10:24:00

Democrats Fear Clinton's Attacks May Cause Racial Backlash

When I consider how the old guard Democrats have voted for the war and the patriot act, took impeachment off the table and basically allowed the current junta to wipe their butts with the Constitution; well I realize they are part of the current junta. Should such reactionary thuggery usurp the people and allow a brokered convention to hand the nomination to the supporters of the current junta, who apparently want their own hand on the "unitary presidency" at any cost, I think it will be time to leave the Democratic party in the dustbin of history. The old guard is just that and their time has passed. The horse got out from under them and now they are trying to get back in the saddle. They know who is electable better then the voters and we should accept their superior party wisdom. Right. Letting party insiders pick the candidates worked real well for the old soviet apparatchiks, didn't it. There are enough African Americans, progressive Americans and new young voters coming into the process to build a new third party, and not some crackpot Nader/Stassen vanity clique either. It will continue to grow. Just answer this. Who do you think the corporatists would rather see president? Who has a proven track record of toeing their line? You want more corporate priorties in governance, you know where to go. posted 04/26/2008 at 10:07:16

A Guide to NYT Bombshell on Military/Media Propaganda

Working hand in glove, these are the guys who were telling us the war would take "months not years". These were the guys who fired Shinseki for stating the obvious about troop strength while desparraging the Powell doctrine, and Powell himself went along for the ride. These are the guys who told us they knew where the WMD"s were. Goddam, lieing, bought and paid for, co-conspirators who are still informing the public through the same media channels and insisting there is nothing wrong. The Pentagon's Corrupt Sock Puppet "Military Analysts" Exposed

The only thing newsworthy here is the specificity. It should be no surprise that these "analysts" were shilling for the Pentagon and the corporations listed on their resume's. Since they used the same language in their media presentations it was fairly obvious they were all speaking from the same talking points memo's. That the same rag that gave us Judy Miller is reporting this is no small irony. They were knowingly working hand in glove with many of these same "analysts" to make this war happen. This is a transparent attempt to distance themselves from the debacle they worked so hard to create. Tens of thousands of Americans dead and maimed as well as hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's, ( I know, I know, so much of it is only collateral damage.), a strapped military, a wrecked economy, a virulently growing international anti Americanism, an eviscerated Bill of Rights and some of us are called unpatriotic for even thinking about it. Why, these are men of integrity. They wear nice suits and go to church on Sunday with their diamond studded lapel pins.

Oh dear! you are forgetting Satan! There are evil spirits in our midst, leprechauns, faries, imps and gremlins doing evil deeds. Among the many mysteries of faith is why God allows such creatures to tempt and challenge our faith to see if we are really worthy of his love. If we are worthy, when jesus finally returns and all our ancestors rise out of their graves we will ascend into heaven leaving all the unworthy behind. My Spiritual Journey: The Pope, His Relevance, And Those Sexual Molestation Cases

It is important to recognize this is only the most recent and public episode. The church has had recurring episodes of widespread, covered up sexual abuse. More of this history is coming to light. They have worked hard to keep a lid on them. At the very least, the senior officers of this corporation who aided, abetted and protected these perpetrators, allowing the abuse to spread should be put behind bars. What other organization is excused from turning in child rapists. What other supervisor would escape prosecution for merely reassigning a known child rapist? So far, their settlements only amount to the cost of doing business. posted 04/18/2008 at 10:17:34

I have worked with many suffering from varying degrees of mental illness. Many endure hallucinations they percieve as real and coming from God. Many of these people have been helped with medication. I think of this whenever I hear someone talk of their personal relationship with God. There is a powerful cadre of self proclaimed Christians who believe and desire these to be the "end times'. They support the most extreme Israeli political positions, not because they love Israel or have any respect for Judaism, but because they think anything to hasten the apocalypse is a good thing. They earnestly desire the end of the world. They think Jesus is up in the sky waiting for just the right moment to come back. They think the dead are going to come out of their graves. I don't think people who want to see the end of the Earth should be allowed to vote. I am not even sure they ought to be allowed to breed. posted 04/16/2008 at 15:40:17

I know they aren't law firms, but really, this guy threw himself on his sword for them. In their defense he showed the world that he, like them, is without morals, principles and integrity. I guess this is what you should expect when you throw your lot with people like that. Probably be different if he came from the east instead of the south. Maybe he can get a letter of recommendation from John Yoo. Which raises the question, how did a guy who says laws on torture, habeus corpus and domestic spying don't apply to the president get a teaching position in an accredited law school? I would look askance at anyone who studied in a school that would sanction that stuff for even the sake of argument. After all, what exactly was our problem with totalitarian regimes? Sunday Roundup

Did you have a problem with Stalin or Hitler? Your's is precisely the same argument they and their apologists made, that the rest of the world didn't understand the forces they were dealing with. This president has declared we have the right to attack anyone who he percieves to threaten us. Based on this we have invaded another country that had nothing to do with attacking us even though we had been bombing them routinely for over a decade. He threatens other countries with the same and worse, namely nuclear annhiliation. He has yet to explain why other countries don't posess the same right to unilaterly strike at their percieved threats, especially within the context of his sabre rattling at Iran, North Korea, Cuba and god knows where else. posted 04/13/2008 at 18:48:28
We should all be referring to the 'Stalinist wing of the Republicam party' which is over represented in the upper echelons of this current junta. What they have done with collateral damage, the "unitary presidency", the Patriot Act, secret prisons and torture, turning the Bill of Rights into a museum piece is traitorous and obscene. What will we say if we find the Chinese are waterboarding Tibetan monks? I would like to hear them try and distinguish themselves from the great practitioners of Cheney's "dark side". The Two Central Myths of the Iraq War

One of the major myths about Iraq is "we are better off without Saddam". When challenged about the lies to justify this quagmire, this junta trots out this truism to squelch all other objections. Truth is Saddam was bogged down by the same sectarianism as we are now. Cheney simply made it ours, Iraq was contained and containing the insurgent factions. Sooner or later he would have died and passed it to his sons. This same factionalism was inevitable. The sons would have gone at one another for supremacy but the Sunni, Shia and Kurds were (and are) going to go at one another hammer and tong. All we are doing is putting off the inevitable and making sure the blame is ours. Putting it off only ensures more American deaths.
The horror is, in fulfilling the PNAC dream, we are guilty of the things we were accusing Saddam of. We invaded a country we were nominally at peace with, though we had been bombing Iraq regularly for over a decade. All our "collateral damage" amounts to thousands of innocent civilian deaths. We kidnapped people off foreign, (not necessarily), Iraqi streets, held them without charge for years in secret prisons and tortured them or turned them over to others for torture. We have acquiesed to domestic spying, suspension of habeus corpus and a presidency bound by no law. They have taken the position that neither courts nor congress can bind the executive's hands and declared a war without end. posted 04/10/2008 at 19:08:53

5 Years Ago: When the Pentagon and Media Lied About Jessica Lynch Rescue

Makes you wonder, looking back, at all our other heros. How many went along in order to get along? Many of lesser morals and integrity would have been very happy to accept the accolades and go for a life long ride. Books, movies, the lecture circuit and product endorsements await. History is full of hucksters and frauds who were finally undone, but how many were never caught?
In his book, "American Ceasar", William Manchester tells the story of Douglas MacArthur grossly overstepping his orders in attacking the Bonus Marcher's encampment in Washington D.C. Immediately following the violent rout, Doug announces to the press what a stroke of brilliance it was for Hoover to order the charge, probably saving the country from anarchists and communists. In fact, Hoover never ordered any such thing, was horrified by what took place, yet did nothing because the press took MacArthur's line and ran with it. It was much later the truth came out in congressional hearings but the press was not particularly interested in telling the public how they were played while playing along. Hoover, another Republican, could have learned alot from someone like Jessica Lynch. posted 04/09/2008 at 11:53:03

John McCain, Iraq, and the Eyewitness Fallacy

Early on in the current junta, one staffer remarked, "We make our own reality." In their dreams, maybe. There is the mission accomplished, last throes stuff already years ago. I'm glad they don't do quagmires. It's a good thing this took months and not years. It's nice the way it paid for itself. What were the goals and objectives they laid out five years ago? It is important to remember these guys came into office screaming that Democrats had been to adventurist in foriegn policy. Democrats had been too quick to commit the military overseas. These are the guys who ran in 2000 saying we could not and should engage in nation building. These guys claim to be strict constitutionalists yet set the president above the law. They have suspended habeus corpus, shown that torture works, set up secret prisons beyond any law, kidnapped people off streets without a word and held them for years without any charge and spy on us without any discussion beyond the walls of those who make their own reality. Kind of makes you wonder what we didn't understand about the security issues of the old Soviet Union. I guess we just didn't appreciate the forces they were contending with. If the threat to the state is so great to necessitate such drastic steps here, surely we should understand why they took such steps which did not save them anyway. May God bless America, please. We need it. posted 03/27/2008 at 13:34:55

War of the Word

According to the "word of god", Jesus' came to be crucified. Somehow this is supposed to bring about the forgiveness of our sins. If Jesus brought himself here for this purpose, it seems silly to blame anyone for killing him. In fact, we should probably thank them, for without them, would we still be saved? If this was the omnipotent god, did anyone really have a choice in the deed?
