Analysis: Obama reacts fast to Bush on diplomacy

This is why Obama is the better candidate to take on the Reps on Iraq. Because Hillary regrettably voted for the war, the Rep attack on her would be "you voted to put our troops in harms way and now you want quit before winning". It"s much easier for Obama to attack the original plan as irresponsible and a plan that hurt our national security rather than enhanced. posted 05/16/2008 at 22:37:42

TNR Asks Clinton Supporters: What Went Wrong?

I always find it puzzling that pundits write about how it was Hillary's campaign that was flawed, rather than the candidate. One vote in 2002 against Bush's War Resolution and Hillary very, very likely would now be the Democratic nominee.

A vote against the war would not only have been the correct vote, it would have shown strength of character and political courage " a willingness to do the right thing rather than protecting her "viability" as a presidential candidate. She would have looked smarter than all the "boys" voting for the war, rather than trying to look tougher than any of them. If she would have admitted early on that that vote was a mistake, then maybe she could have redeemed herself, but that admission by Edwards and others made them weaker candidates " it would have helped, but its not clear how much. Many of us were looking for someone that had the judgment at the time it counted and she didn"t.

The "win at any cost" narrative was a legacy she carried from her husband, but her Iraq vote, the Bosnia "misspeaking", and the "Obama isn"t ready for the 3am call" fueled the narrative. Then she capped it off with her gas tax "holiday" in Indiana and North Carolina, when it appears that voters understood the con, despite all the pundits talking about what a good political move it was to pander to them. posted 05/16/2008 at 12:14:09

Study: Obama-Backed Illinois Gas Tax Holiday Actually Worked

There is a big difference between one state offering a reduction in tax and the whole country. If its just one state, the supply can be increased in the short term to support the increased demand caused by lower prices. If the tax is reduced for the whole country, supplies for a the short term are essentially fixed, and the increase demand will pull prices back up to the pre-tax holiday levels -- giving more dollars to the oil companies. Economics 101.

Nice try, but another misleading story on the gas tax holiday scam. Wonder why 230 economists said it was a bad idea? Too bad journalists and commentators on this subject skipped economics. posted 05/06/2008 at 11:10:21

Gas Tax Holiday Splits Clinton And Obama: Who's Right?

It turns out that Obama is the only one of the three that actually understands the difference between economics and pandering. Economics 101, which apparently Hillary and McCain failed or had someone else taking their tests, tells us that if you decrease price you will increase demand. Without a corresponding increase in supply (given oil at $120 a barrel, if it hasn't happened yet, it is unlikely to happen with an 18 cent tax decrease), the price will go back up.

So instead of the government getting the taxes, the oil companies and countries like Iran (you know, the one that Hillary wants to obliterate and the one that McCain wants to "bomb, bomb, bomb") will get increased profits. Both Hillary and McCain continue to depend on the ignorance of voters to get elected. Let's hope the MSM does a better job this time of exposing their pandering than they did with reporting the flaw in voting for a war in Iraq.

The patriotic thing to do (listen carefully, Hillary and McCain supporters) would be to increase the tax on gasoline, raise some more money to rebuild this country's infrastructure and stop sending $120 a barrel of oil to Iran and Venezuela. posted 04/29/2008 at 22:14:36

Clinton Hits Obama For Opposing Gas Tax Holiday

If you suspend the gas tax, it will increase demand, and usage, which will keep the price of oil and gasoline higher than it would otherwise be -- sending that "tax break" to oil companies and nations like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Venezuela. The result could very likely be no price break at all for consumers, only a transfer of more wealth from the U.S. to the oil nations.

Unfortunately the "detailed" Hillary doesn't bother mentioning this when she panders to those that don't understand basic economics. In McCains case, he likely just doesn't understand. Fortunately Obama does understand.

Too bad the idiots in MSM media don't bother explaining. Much easier to talk about Rev. Wright. posted 04/28/2008 at 15:02:39

Clinton Wants Bush To Boycott Olympic Opening Ceremonies

There are several problems with Bush boycotting the Olympic opening ceremony. Because of our invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration lost its moral authority to lecture any other country about abuses they might inflict on regions under their domain. Because of the invasion of Iraq and the trade policies over the last several years, Bush needs the Chinese to finance the huge deficits he has run up. Because of the invasion of Iraq, Bush is unable to exert significant influence on Russia and China, as well as European countries in helping resolve the Iran nuclear issue, let alone Iraq itself. Bush and his minions have no credibility. Bush boycotting the Olympics opening ceremony would be meaningless, and more likely would do more damage than help.

If we want to be able to influence Chinese human rights abuses, then we need a new President with a different world view. Not one that voted for the Iraq war or one that believes not talking to Iran, but boycotting an opening ceremony at the Olympics is somehow a way to conduct foreign policy. If Hillary really wants change in our policy in China and the world, she should just vote for Obama. posted 04/07/2008 at 15:09:41

Mark Penn Finally Fired

Mark Penn was the Donald Rumsfeld of the Clinton campaign. What does that say about her ability to run the country? Will we now see the Clinton "surge" strategy? posted 04/07/2008 at 11:02:37

Governor Ed Rendell Hints That Mark Penn Should Be Fired

This again calls into question Hillary"s ability to manage. If she has senior staff members " the man running her campaign, not just some one she might occasionally consult with " that are off representing a position completely contrary to hers, then either she is showing lack of control over her staff or implicit approval of that staff member getting paid to lobby for the other position. Either one is unacceptable for a president. It"s not the same as getting advice from different points of view, which should be encouraged. Penn was getting paid to persuade Congress, likely including Hillary, to a position that was different that Hillary supposedly opposed.

Of course we have no idea who is paying Bill Clinton that $500 million for his library and what influence they might believe they will get in th White House if Hillary is elected. posted 04/06/2008 at 14:38:16

Why This Is The End For The Clintons

I have no problem with the Clintons making $109 million. The issue is how much of that was payment for expected future favors, especially if Hillary gets elected president. Even more important likely is who was giving Bill $500 million for his library and what do they expect in return. It is unprecedented for an ex-President to come back into the White House after raising so much money from donations and "speeches". Never happen before and could be the most dangerous problem with the Clintons coming back into power. Lots of big money behind them and lots of expectations of what that might bring -- we deserve to know more before they are re-elected. posted 04/07/2008 at 13:29:03

Um....Rocky Lost. And Lying Is Like Farting.

Clinton philosophy -- if you tell a lie and no one knows its a lie, or no one can prove its a lie, then its OK. If there is a video or audio tape or a stained dress exposing the lie, then apologize. Most Democrats will forgive us because we are the Clintons. How many more years of this crap does the country want? posted 04/06/2008 at 14:48:20

McCain Booed At Martin Luther King Speech: Watch The Video

I'm an Obama supporter. I believe if we are color blind, it doesn't make a difference whether the person holding the umbrella was Black or White. There's a level of race bating from any one suggesting otherwise. Is some one suggesting that a Black man can not be kind to a White man? It was just stupid to make a point of this. posted 04/04/2008 at 14:22:41

Hillary Clinton Advocates "Poverty Czar"

It"s not a good idea, it"s pandering, and meaningless. It just creates another bureaucracy with no real power " let her tell us how much money she would put behind this "czar", what specifically he/she would be responsible for different than other cabinet positions, and how she would pay for it, in addition to all the other programs she is advocating. posted 04/04/2008 at 13:09:51

Chelsea Clinton Asked About Monica Lewinsky Again, Watch Video

Bush would not have been President if Bill didn't lie about his blowjob. Lies do matter.

Besides Hillary voted for that war anyway -- her and Bill had a chance to speak out against it and did not have the courage to do so. Maybe if Bill was less worried about his legacy, than our Country, he could have spoken out, and the Nation would have listened. posted 03/31/2008 at 16:18:38
Because her father got serviced in the Oval Office by "that women" and then lied about it, it made it the country's business, unfortunately. If he not had sex with her, and had not lied about it, what were the chances that Gore would have not had to worry about a Florida recount? If Gore would have been President what are the chances that we would not have gone to war in Iraq.

How many of those 4,000 dead soldiers would still be alive, some maybe attending those universities that Chelsea is visiting and saying, its "none of your business".

Lies have consequences, and when a President lies, it can have major, devasting consequences.

Chelsea should be ashamed of her father and her response to his lies. posted 03/31/2008 at 15:37:05

Female Clinton Supporters Fear Campaign Has Unleashed Sexist Backlash

Its not the gender, its the person. I hope women believe they can do better than Hillary. I do. Smart and hard working aren't the only criteria for being a great leader. Integrity and honesy count and she is lacking. Of course we've elected plenty of men lacking in integrity and honesty (and lacking smarts and a work ethic), but usually it doesn't show up until they are already president. With Hillary its been so obvious for so long -- maybe its partially guilt by association with Bill. Plus this sense that the Clintons, Hillary as much as Bill, will do anything to enhance their position, their power, regardless of impact on the Democratic Party and the Country. posted 03/29/2008 at 18:37:05

Odd that he is so outraged with Richardson, yet has defended the Clinton lying for years. Guess its OK to lie if you are a Clinton, but not OK to change your mind if you are anyone else.

I'm impressed that Richardson put loyalty to the Country ahead of loyalty to the Clintons. That's the kind of leaders we need. We've had enough of the Bush/Clinton ahead of the country kind of loyalty. posted 03/28/2008 at 09:13:43
