Speaker Pelosi: "Two Oil Men In The White House" To Blame For Gas Prices

Bush and Cheney protect huge companies which became huge because of an economy based on oil.
They will take our dependence on oil to the bitter end to keep their investments and extended investments wringing out profits with the least expense to the corporations.

For now, that's to keep running on oil and oil that is acquired in the least expensive way. They don't want to drill in current leased areas because it would cost them more; besides to get permission to drill in even larger areas locks in more of THEIR oil--they have leases, they want public and protected lands in ADDITION, just as they intend to lock in oil contracts in Iraq. They want it ALL.

They intend to keep US citizens dependent, poor and stupid. None of their decisions are about the long-run, the well being of the individual or the planet. They will thwart attempts toward alternative fuels, renewable energy, conservation, environmental protection. This is about continuing to remain the same, no matter what the damage, while making money for themselves and related corporations. posted 07/18/2008 at 10:02:48

I don't believe the police really thought they were the usual troublemakers. posted 07/17/2008 at 09:53:50

Iran Test-Fires Nine Missiles, Warns It Will Retaliate

You comments are logical, wise and fair. Unfortunately, the Bush administration does not operate on being logical, wise or fair. They are intent upon carrying out the Project for the New American Century which they signed in 1997. Read it (just google)everybody. The plan is out there for everybody to see.
It's about expanding US "power". It's about empire building. First Iraq, then Iran, then Syria.
In other words, Bush/Cheney are after controlling OIL, thus expanding their "power". They will keep the US running on oil, gathering profits for the huge companies which run on OIL, whether it kills us or not.
And they have to act soon, because they have only a few months left in office. posted 07/09/2008 at 09:09:41

McCain's 'Deficit Reduction' Plan Would Cost Trillions

Unfortunately the same public which voted for Bush is still going to vote, and many of them will fall for McCain's illogical, sometimes conflicting "Pollyanniaish" promises. His statements will be discussed in depth at all those cocktail parties where Repugs impress each other with their enormous intellects and more importantly even bigger wallets as they get smashed. Pentagon Extends Tours Of Duty For Marines In Afghanistan

The Marines will do their jobs, no matter how bad the management is.
This is so sad, hard for their families. Most people have no idea how military families suffer when the Mom or Dad is away for long stretches of time, especially dangerous stretches of time.

All this for Bush's desperate last ditch push to get those oil contracts, to push on to Iran--all before he leaves office. Cheney, from whom we hear little lately, is in the WH basement, stoking and stirring the cauldron big time. posted 07/04/2008 at 09:50:16

First Criminal Charges Related To Credit Crisis Brought Against Bear Stearns Execs

Why are we always a day late and a dollar short AFTER the damage has been done (and the US Treasury has shelled out yet again--rather Borrowed even MORE money)?

Tim Russert Dies At Age 58

Perhaps Tim Russert's sudden death will strike reporters to the core, remind them of the fleeting nature of all life and the importance of preserving it--this goes to all who helped sell the war in Iraq for the Bush administration. Good reporters/networks questioned and did not propagandize for the WH--good (honest) reporters/networks were very hard to find. Life, in the face of death, suddenly becomes very valuable, and the prospect of selling a war which would take the lives of so many should not have been intellectualized into "preemptive", or sold with fear mongering lies.

As we are all struck by the loss of Tim Russert, let's also remember each fallen soldier and their families...we are well over 4000 US soldiers dead now. They are the forgotten ones. posted 06/14/2008 at 10:09:17

The Truth "Gagged" and Treason Hidden

Speaking of investigations stopped by the Bush administration, what about the investigation of the ethics of GHW Bush's being a representative of the Carlyle Group, which at the time and probably still had very powerful Saudi investors, including the Bin Laden family? When W was elected, he fired the prosecutors doing the investigation. And that seems the end of that.

Anybody know more? Carlyle Financial, a division of the Carlyle Group which has huge profits from war contracts, received two government buy-outs last Fall, to make it all more disgusting and suspicious. posted 06/11/2008 at 14:45:25

Of course it leads to the White House. By telling our military to destroy the written evidence so it couldn't be used in a trial is the same as telling our military to LIE in court if they ever had to testify. This whole horror is built on lies from the White House, through the Pentagon and on down.

Pray there is still honor somewhere in our leadership--military and Congress that will keep us from more dishonor. No attack on Iran. No more torture. Google Recruited By CIA For Spy Work

Not only will this make it make it easier for these agencies to share information, it will be easier for W/Cheney to control THEIR OWN information. In other words, those agents who find and document information contrary to administration policy will find their information rewritten, just as we posters have ours rewritten, removed or otherwise altered.
Agents who keep files which are "controversial" will get warnings and be tracked as well.

Agreed.
Jobs and security of those jobs would go a long way. It seems there should be a way to make new policy beneficial in the long run.

It seems there's no thought for that long term past 2008. It's all for grabbing and going...as in taking what "they" can...after all, the "going" might get rough when "they" are voted out of office. Third Day Of Fighting Takes Over Iraq

All due to Bush's invasion, occupation and recent agreement with Iraqi "government" that US forces would remain for an extended time (years). This is a little publicized agreement, Congress "may" try to negate it after Bush is no longer in office. Of course the Mahdi army is now unleashed. The US has invaded and is occupying most of their world. In their minds, they are patriots. They are trying to reclaim their own countries, and incidentally, THEIR oil.
If the mainstream media made much of this, US voters would be furious. We are all sick of this war; many supporters have been converted to "peacemakers" now that they feel it in their pocketbooks. posted 03/27/2008 at 09:52:30

Paul Krugman Slams...Hillary

Totally agree.
Krugman's book "The Great Unraveling" copywritten 2003, pretty much predicted what we are now seeing in our economy--from "Greenspanomics" to "Crony Capitalism, USA". He talks of the deregulation and change in auditing which allowed Enron and the continuing open door to abuse by big corporations and their executives.
He talked about the Carlyle Group and GHWB's ethically questioned role as spokesperson for them, when they were acquiring major defense contracts at the hand of his son and his friends Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld. Now we watch as Carlyle Financial gets government buyouts...

Yeah, all we need is Greenspan throwing more dollars out our treasury's back door as that train is being run down by the countries who've lent us the money. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:47:51

Bush Administration Trying To Stop Fraud Reporting By War Contractors Abroad

"We" have never heard how Cheney's friend did with his recovery. People with shotgun pellets often have a life time of problems from the invasive shot which remains in body tissue. Perhaps they had a political discussion and Cheney got carried away.

In this vein, it IS frightening to know even a small time blogger gets threats of one kind or another. How many of us have experienced some change or problem just as we're about to pass on some bit of information??

Imagine how members of Congress must feel, when they are no doubt being monitored and subtly threatened. It would make them watch what they say, do, or tell the public. It would also make them frightened enough to hold off doing anything heroic, where the rest of the herd is too frightened to have their back and they could end up out on a big limb. It's is like playing "chicken-blackmail". posted 03/21/2008 at 16:15:35
