Was Barack Obama's Response To Rev. Wright Persuasive?

Ms. Reardon's obvious implication is that Hillary Clinton would have been far too "experienced" not to have anticipated such a public attack from a close family friend. If that is true, how is it that Sen. Clinton was blindsided by Mark Penn's undermining of her position with respect to the Colombian trade agreement, when Mr. Penn was A KEY STRATEGIST IN HER CAMPAIGN?!

Last time I checked, the Rev. Wright was not calling any shots for Sen. Obama, nor was he performing any services for a foreign government. posted 04/30/2008 at 11:18:00

Help Us Write "The Gender Speech"

Hillary Clinton might have been the one to write the gender speech, if only she had let go of her philandering husband's coattails and stood for election on her own merits. posted 04/24/2008 at 14:17:50

A Vote for Hillary Is a Vote for the Death of the Dollar

The stock market bubble burst in February 2000, only one month after George W. Bush took, office. So while he is undoubtedly the Worst president ever, the one thing you can't pin on Georgie-boy is the Internet bubble from which many of our retirement plans have yet to recover. posted 04/02/2008 at 00:55:43
I'm not qualified to judge Max Keiser's predictions about the direction of the dollar, but I do feel compelled to comment on the first two paragraphs of this post....

Girlfriends, let's get real! The first woman Justice of the Supreme Court was the deciding "swing vote" in Bush v. Gore. What exactly would we be "building toward" if the Republicans were to nominate Elizabeth Dole, Kay Bailey Hutchison or Condoleeza Rice (or what the hell, "Mean Jean" Schmidt) as their candidate for President of the United States?

My understanding of the Equal Rights Amendment (which I still hope to see enacted in my lifetime) is that it guarantees no abridgement of rights "on account of sex" -- which means that a qualified candidate who meets all or most of a voter's criteria ought not to be discounted on account of being...male. My fellow feminists' rhetoric in the current campaign borders on (I never thought I'd hear myself say it!) hysterical. If the Democratic party nominates Barack Obama, and if he chooses as his vice-presidential candidate someone like (for example) Jim Webb, who appeals to voters among whom Obama's lacks support, does that mean the sisters will unite in support of a McCain-Rice ticket? Say it ain't so! posted 04/02/2008 at 00:51:05

Chelsea Clinton Asked About Monica Lewinsky Again, Watch Video

The question that should be asked of Chelsea is "Do you realize that Monica Lewinsky was five years younger than you are now when your father had his "inappropriate" relationship with her?" Do you believe you could have fallen prey to a similar situation with an employer when you were her age?" posted 04/02/2008 at 02:30:58

Let's Not Discard Working Families That Got Subprimed

Families who put their life's savings into a down payment on a home are definitely entitled to government protection from swindlers. Those who put nothing down have absolutely nothing to lose. They simply walk away and go back to being renters. This latter group does not deserve to be bailed out by those of us who are still working hard to earn that down payment! posted 03/31/2008 at 22:16:44

Some great ideas here that will serve each of our candidates well! I agree with everything except the vice-presidential thing. First, neither candidate is interested in the job -- nor should they be, necessarily. Secondly, the candidate and his/her advisors should be free to choose the vice presidential candidate whose strengths and weaknesses best complement those of the head of the ticket. posted 03/31/2008 at 21:17:40

Krugman has in fact made the very points you mention, most recently two days ago in his column entitled "Taming the Beast":

"..it"s clear that the Clinton administration went along too easily with moves to deregulate the financial industry. And it"s hard to avoid the suspicion that big contributions from Wall Street helped grease the rails." posted 03/26/2008 at 16:49:47
Well said, sk7326!

I voted for Obama in my state's primary, and will support him to the end. But all these hypersenstive reactions from Obama supporters have the effect of helping the media make their candidate look weak and whiny. posted 03/26/2008 at 16:42:22

Why Am I So Afraid

Am I imagining things, or did Erica Jong really use the word "beaver" to describe the female candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination? Did she really call the younger, male candidate a "stallion"? Once a pornographer, always a pornographer, I guess. posted 03/24/2008 at 00:09:45
