I'd love the opportunity to yell something similar at Bush:

"These lies are like their father that begets them,
gross as a mountain, open, palpable. Why, thou
claybrained guts, thou knotty-pated fool, thou whore-
son, obscene, greasy tallow-keech--"

Biden Praises Obama's Spine, Tells McCain To Study History

And he started the speech off with an ode to his own White House run, openly wondering how he, "the most qualified man to be president," could end up in the role of campaign surrogate.

"I don't know what I'm doing here," he told the crowd.

No sh#t. He was my first choice. You'd think that after 8 years of an unqualified fool, we would have nominated one of the most experienced men in Washington. It's a shame. He'd be up on McCain by 25 points. Hopefully, Obama has the good judgment to select Biden as his VP. posted 07/16/2008 at 00:36:14

A New Yorker Cover For National Review

After reading through these comments, I wonder what has happened to America's ability to think critically about art. Go take a class in Art interpretation. posted 07/16/2008 at 03:30:34
It's a lampoon, which is a form of satire. It can also be viewed as a satire in the 'New Yorker' mode, in that it takes aim at the media, and their whitewashed portrayal of McCain. Essentially, both of these pieces speak to the 'distortion of facts." The New Yorker piece speaks to the distortion by the media of the 'Obama as terrorist" meme. This piece speaks to the distortion of the facts by the media in favor of McCain, by essentially ignoring the truth. I think both pieces are opposite pages in an open book. posted 07/16/2008 at 03:07:58

The New Yorker Helps To Fuel The Rumors With Bad Satire

I agree. Unfortunately, It seems many liberals have succumbed to the 'politics of fear." The sad thing is that they probably don't realize that they have been manipulated. posted 07/16/2008 at 00:23:47
Unfortunately, the Obama campaign rebuked the cover. They should have stayed quiet. Fox is reporting on the reaction of Obama to the cover instead of reacting to the cover. They aren't offended. Fox has been perpetuating these memes. What effectiveness this cover could have had in bringing the irresponsible parties to account was lost when the Obama campaign condemned it. The reactionary lefties that have cried havoc have undermined what could have been an effective weapon against the smears. They've basically, by whining, let the right-wing off the hook. posted 07/15/2008 at 01:36:32

New Yorker Cover Falls Short Of Satire

Depicting the Obamas in the Oval office represents both the right wingers' greatest fear, and, given the article's focus on Obama's political savvy, the likely outcome of the election regardless of the subject: the 'politics of fear.' The irony being that the politics of fear will only produce the opposite outcome.

The 2006 elections are a working example of how the 'politics of fear' has lost its effectiveness. Obama will win the Presidency in spite of the right wing smear tactics. posted 07/14/2008 at 15:58:03
