Why Obama Should Thank The New Yorker

I don't buy that Obama is suddenly sensitive to Muslim American's, he himself has been insulting Muslim Americans with the way his campaign has tried to dissociate from the 'smear' of being a Muslim. It was a political tactic, responding to the New Yorker cover by bringing that up. This is all politics and he is a politician. A better one than McCain but still a politician. posted 07/18/2008 at 11:34:59

Jon Stewart Takes On Media, Obama For Overreacting To New Yorker Cover: "It's Just A F***ing Cartoon!"

Rational thinking people are being asked by these hysterical crybabies to dumb down their thinking. It's ridiculous.

Obama and his campaign could have responded to this in a much smarter manner. Obama, harvard educated and all, knows damn well it was satire and The New Yorker no less. posted 07/16/2008 at 11:27:02
I love it when people throw around the word 'irrelevant''. Shows how bright they really are with their third-grade level analysis. He's irrelevant? Really? Do tell?

You know who might be irrelevant though... posted 07/16/2008 at 11:26:12
It was never meant for that 'element of society".

In fact the only reason the cover has been more widely viewed is due to the hysterical response.

Obamanation expects to dumb you down into submission. Reminds me of Republicans and soccer moms at PTA meeting and book burnings. I mean come on. posted 07/16/2008 at 11:21:36
Obamanation is like the opposite side of the same coin. Hysterical, ready to get out their pitchforks at silliest things. posted 07/16/2008 at 11:18:45
Now Obamanation is turning on Jon Stewart? This is laughable. Get some perspective.

As others have noted:

"Any idiot who would look at this cover and not see it for what it is would never vote for Obama (or any Democrat) in the first place."

"Only a fool who has a problem with The New Yorker cover could think such an idiotic thing."

Get a grip, ask someone to slap you in the face, take a cold shower, anything to let some objectivity and perspective seep through those tiny brain cells.

Jon Stewart is right on the money. posted 07/16/2008 at 11:17:52

The far-left? FISA is a far-left issue? Interesting.

You can shove your attempt to label the FISA issue as a far-left tag. In case you don't remember, the 'old' Obama had some pretty strong views about FISA and immunity. The 'new' Obama is like the 'old' Democrat. Change my behind.

Serenity Lost: Obama And The Netroots

Rationalizing Obama's position on FISA is pathetic.

There is no accountability in this country anymore. Obama will continue the trend.

Corporations still run this thing.

Yes, but all the people huffing and puffing about Nader don't care about thiings like FISA and the Constitution or the fact that Obama is selling out on the constitution already.

They'd rather take easy pop shots at Nader.

At least, Nader hasn't prostituted himself out like Dems have and Obama is doing. posted 06/25/2008 at 17:26:31
Agree with you here.

One thing I admire about Nader is that he never sold out. Not like the weasly, spineless Democrats for the last eight years and now Obama and Dems supporting FISA.

Yell, call him names. But it may just be that Obama is just another Democrat.

Still, anyone but McCain. posted 06/25/2008 at 17:23:54
I'm a strong obama supporter (look at my profile to see my past posts).

You can call Nader names, you can call him irrelevant, but one thing you can never call him is
a sellout.

Obama's stance on FISA is a huge disappointment and in the end, Ralph may be right, he's just another Democrat. Like those Democrats who voted for the FISA compromise, especially the ones who had received contributions from TelCo's.

Anyone who can support FISA or excuse Obama's stance on it seems to have forgotten the last eight years.

Obama too does not want to rock the boat so Nader has a point here. I still support Obama, but now it's become anyone but McCain. posted 06/25/2008 at 17:17:17

Obama says bin Laden must not be a martyr

True, but clearly dragging him out in chains vs killing him in a gunfight will have different effects. The former diminishes him immensely, it shows the US can be just and believes in the rule of law after Guantanamo. The latter might further make him into a martyr for lunatics and his notoriety would grow with tall tales. The ripple effects would be quite different. Of course, if there's no possibility for capture or surrender, then you have to kill him. posted 06/19/2008 at 11:22:53

Keith Olbermann Names Katie Couric "Worst Person In The World"

Katie Couric is only projecting her own failures here.

There was sexism at play but to blame that as the downfall of Hillary Clinton is quite an overshot (remember she's human and actually made quite a few tactica mistakes and gross errors of judgement herself).

Katie Courics attempts to turn a hard news program into something softer was a disaster and that has nothing to do with her being a woman. It's just that the CBS Evening News isn't the Today Show. Leave the hard news alone please, there's so little of it as it is. I recommend the McNeil Lehrher News Hour on PBS. Not flashy I know, but informative and actual analysis is used.

Katie Couric should have been taking the president to task instead of taking tours with him and trying to make everything lighter when everything around really needs to be scrutinized. posted 06/12/2008 at 12:01:36

CNBC's Bartiromo Misleads On Impact Of Obama's Tax Plan

Except that she doesn't include this part:

in 2005, the national median income was a mere $44,389. And, according to the 2006 U.S. Census data on household income, households earning $200K or more represent a slim 3.5% of all households. That means that over 95% of all American households would likely prefer to have the problem Obama would impose on the nations' elite earners.
