Breast Fed Up

I think it is unfortunate that pressure is placed on the mother. There is much data to support the benefits of nursing on baby's health and brain. I did select to breastfeed. The problem is nursing doesn't trump genetics. I know kids who were breastfed and are quite sickly, allergic and of normal intelligence. There are children who were formula babies that are doing quite well. I only wish the medical community and moms would place that same focus on the destructive eating habits of American children. Obesity in children is rampant and affects long term health. Where is the militancy on parents to stop feeding their kids junk and surgared drinks. posted 04/16/2008 at 11:13:27

Rosie is brash and unapologetic. This report seems to have brought out the self righteous - straight A students. Straight A's in our schools do not account for much considering that many colleges and univerisities have stated that many students arrive well underprepared. That being said parenting is a very tough and trying devotion. If every parent had cameras watching their every move most would be caught conducting themselves in a most unflattering manner - or in the vernacular of the self righteous- they may appear to "suck." I could not agree more with your assessment. In his latest comedy act George Carlin speaks of child worship as one of the things afflicting America. Violence is commonly associated with inner city youth but suburban child worship has created a disturbing and violent trend within its youth. Suburban parents immediately rebuff the idea that their children may have done something wrong.
