How Much Could The McCains Make From Anheuser-Busch Co. Sale?

John McCain would not be a candidate for President of the United States if it weren't for the money Cindy (and her father ) brought into the marriage. Face it, John McCain has, from the beginning of his political career, been financed by Anheuser-Busch beer money.

He didn't earn a cent of that beer money and yet he profitted from it.

John McCain used his rich, pretty heiress wife to make a political career. He didn't earn it. Daddy-in-Law bought it for him.

John McCain is a "kept" man, bought and sold for beer.

What a punk. posted 07/15/2008 at 02:41:02

McCain Losing His Bearings

I don't expect John McCain to be as smart about economics as Phil Gramm (after all, Gramm received a doctorate in economics from some Texas cow college, I believe it was Texas A&M, while McCain finished 894th out of 899 in his graduating class at the Naval Acadeny). None of their respective academic credentials are what anyone would call "top drawer."

Face it, both of these Republican bozos are ignorant yahoos. McCain married rich (the beer heiress) and Gramm made his wife, and thus himself, rich (Enron).

Gramm is a moral pig. McCain is merely a typical, porcine Republican (whose wife puts $750,000 on American Express cards every month). posted 07/18/2008 at 00:34:34

Why Obama Should Announce Key Cabinet Members When He Announces His VP Choice

I totally agree with this post -- in the general, if not the specifics.

I wouldn't put Hillary in my cabinet, I'd try to make her the Senate Majority Leader (where she could be a real improvement over the spineless Harry Reid). She'd be very effective there before Obama elevates her to the Supreme Court (where she'd be an effective counterbalance to shitheels like Scalia).

Wesley Clark would be a good Secretary of Defense, Bill Richardson a good Secretary of State (Biden is bright, but an egocentric blowhard). John Edwards would make a great Attorney General or HUD Secretary. Chris Dodd is a great Senator, but he may be getting tired of all that -- he too would make a great Supreme Court Justice.

Remember, the Supreme Court is the single most important reason to vote for Barack Obama and get him elected (otherwise, with a President McCain, kiss Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choice goodbye).

Right now, I personally favor Jim Webb as Vice President. He takes care of the military/foreign policy flank for Obama and, even though I'm far more liberal than he is, I love his "bulldog attack" style and intelligence.

He and Obama would, in my opinion, be unbeatable. I too am from the fringes of Appalachia (western Pa.) and I know that Weber would speak to those poor white working-class voters from Alabama to central PA (which is also known as "northern Alabama"). posted 06/26/2008 at 23:21:58

Lieberman Must Go!

I was Joe Lieberman's friend and roommate for four years at Yale. It pains and embarrasses and angers me now, because then he was an anti-Vietnam war activist (he also sought deferments to stay out of any actual fighting). So, now even when he won't send his own children or grandchildren to fight in an illegal, immoral, and bloody War on Iraq (or Iran, too), he, like Bush and Cheney and the rest of their cowardly neocon ilk are willing to send the poor and the minorities of America to die for their ugly imperialist and/or religious beliefs. Shame on them. Shame on Joe in particular. He has betrayed me, himself, and what is best in America. posted 06/26/2008 at 05:53:11

Obama: Dobson "Making Stuff Up"

Agreed, willymanet. Unlike Dobson and the authoriatarian, totalitarian, and fascistic fundamentalist Christians who believe in the literal truth of the Bible (which was written by many diffferent men and, even perhaps, women ) and which, undoubtedly contains much metaphorical truth, the New Testament, in its many manifestations, show that Jesus was a tolerant, loving, and accepting person. You may call him Christ the Messiah, I think of him as a wise man and a prophet. He was also a radical in his times, a man who shook up the Establishment.

Put it this way. Jesus would never vote Republican. posted 06/25/2008 at 01:29:49

WaPo's Cohen: McCain More Trustworthy Because He Was Taken Captive

Richard Cohen and Jeff Gannon (aka Guckert) seem to have at least one thing in common -- they know how to "fluff" their favorite boys.

Can't attack Georgie because he's keeping us safe from the terr'sts (and he and Karl and Scottie needed a little "relief" now and then, didn't they?) Johnny M just needs to be stroked now and then, Cindy or Lindsay (especially puckering Lindsay) or Joe will do.

Hagel: I'd Consider VP Offer From Obama

Hagel is anti-War on Iraq. That's great. That's even heroic in the Republican Party. That makes him a true patriot.

But that doesn't make him deserving of the VP spot on the Democratic ticket. He's a "one issue" guy -- against a stupid, immoral, and expensive war -- but that still doesn't qualify him to be Vice President or President. Sorry. posted 06/21/2008 at 00:04:13

Coming on Sunday from the New York Times: Charlie Crist's Personal Life

Charlie Crist is a much better governor than Jeb Bush. I'm sure he would also be much better at higher office. I personally don't care whether he is gay or not. I'm a Democrat and I'm against his Republican policies (even though they are, arguably, better than the neanderthal neocons like Jeb and George Bush).

Charlie Crist should not be opposed because he is homosexual (who, with any brains, cares), but because he is a Republican (and therefore a bigoted and small-brained reptile or dinosaur). posted 06/20/2008 at 23:20:53

mthand--
Obama ought to have a very private chat with Hillary and ask her if she really wants the VP slot. If she says she does, he should then say, "What about the Supreme Court, instead?" Think about it--she's going to be too old to run for President in 2016, but the Supremes can go on into their 80s. It's a better job than VP and I think she would make a great Justice.

radlib1--
You know what, mthand? I think you've got it! She's a very smart, tough lady who truly does care about the poor, the minorities, women, etc., even if she lacks personal warmth. And she would be able to stand up to Scalia, Alito, Roberts, and Thomas, et. al. -- they'd definitely never overturn Roe v. Wade if she holds the deciding vote.

You should suggest this to the Obama campaign. It's a way to assuage her ego and, at the same time, help our country. Brilliant move. A win-win scenario. posted 06/05/2008 at 02:20:54

Not Until the Fat Lady Sings

Dear DinSea,

I can't vouch for your astrology, but the story of the frog and the scorpion -- a perfect analogy for Hillary. She can't help herself. She must kill even those who would save her.

So smart, so astute, so unbelievably stupid and self-destructive. And that's not even counting her Vote for the War on Iraq, where she put the power of America into the hands of a moron, George W. Bush, who proceeded to kill over 4000 Americans, over a million Iraqis, and waste over 3 trillion dollars. Way to go, Hillary. So bright, such a moral wasteland. posted 04/01/2008 at 01:54:42

Lou Dobbs Says Anti-Clinton Media Bias "Worsening"

Lanny Davis is one, lying mother f*cker who should never be let near a microphone for the rest of his life. He is a major-league scum who has been covering up the asses of Bill and Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman since he teamed up with them at Yale Law School. Believe me, Lou Dobbs does not "mean well." He's right-wing Republican, anti-immigrant swill. Which makes him a "good Republican," not necessarily a "good American."

Rich assholes are not, by definition, "good Americans" -- please see Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus, and Lou Dobbs.

When I read the comments, you rojo74349, are the first in line. Did you start this "complete thread of nasty after nasty after nasty?" Otherwise, what's your complaint?

I, for one, am not obsessed with Hillary. I'd prefer not to vote for her because she supported George W. Bush's moronic and expensive War on Iraq, but then so did Senator McCain. I happen to think that Senator Clinton's nominations for the U.S. Supreme Court would be superior to McCain's, so I would definitely vote for Clinton vs. McCain.

However, I believe that Senator Obama's position on the War on Iraq is definitely superior to Senator Clinton's (he was against it, she was for it). so I definitely favor Obama over Clinton.

To my mind, Barack Obama is clearly the superior candidate for President, Democratic or Republican. And I intend to vote that way. posted 04/01/2008 at 02:16:29

Truth is the First Casualty. Logic is the Second. The Democratic Party is the Third.

Would that Hillary's fabrications were due to sleep deprivation, instead of a life-long commitment to lying. It's bad enough that she believed she was threatened by sniper fire in Tusla, it's worse that she believed along with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney that we were threatened by Saddam Hussein in 2002 (first of all, it was a total lie, second of all, she believed it enough to vote for War Against Iraq without actually reading the National Intelligence Estimate).

Remember, Saddam had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 (15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi Arabian), he posed no imminent or immediate threat against the U.S., and the U.S. was really attacking Iraq for its oil.

Hillary Clinton is just a cog in the American war-and-oil-machine.

She's not a leader, she's a tool. posted 04/01/2008 at 03:53:39

Minn. Sen. Amy Klobuchar Endorses Obama

If I'm not mistaken, Obama leads in both pledged delegates (primaries and caucuses) and in super delegates. In other words, it is all but mathematically impossible for Obama to lose his lead in delegates unless he dies before the election.

So, Hillary can stay in the race all the way she f*cking wants, but she will never win!

Reality check, Hillary. Do you care more about yourself or more about the Democratic Party and Obama Barack who have to take on John McCain in November?

We already know that you voted for George W. Bush's War on Iraq (and never apologized for that). Do you really think that Democrats and the American voters are going to support a person who stupidly voted for an illegal, immoral, and bloody War on Iraq?

Please respect the American people who know that the War on Iraq was a major-league mistake.

Thank you.

Clinton's Loose Association with the Truth

Unfortunately, Senator Hillary Clinton made a political decision to vote for Bush's War Resolution on Iraq in October, 2002, before the mid-term elections and without reading the National Intelligence Estimate.

Even Senator Bill Nelson, who is a conservative Democrat voted against the Iraq War Resolution. precisely because he had read the N.I.E. and there was not enough proof in it to invade a sovereign country which posed absolutely no imminent or immediate danger to the United States itself.

Saddam was, no doubt, a bad man, but remember, the CIA helped to put him and the Ba'athists into power and the U.S. supported Saddam and Iraq in an 8-year War against Iran. Before he invaded Kuwait, he was "our guy" in the Middle East.

And Hillary voted to give George W. Bush the authority to go to War with Iraq without ever reading the N.I.E. herself. She threw in with a major moron (Bush) who is going to cost our country over 3 trillion dollars, because she was afraid of being painted as "soft on terror." Because she cared more about her own political career than she did about beiing right or wrong, smart or stupid, she ended up supporting the worst political, economic, and moral catastrophe in our nation's history.

And there are still people out there who want to vote for her? Or for John McCain, who is just as guilty of terminal "war fever." posted 03/30/2008 at 23:07:50

Senator Leahy To Clinton: Drop Out

Someone recently compared Hillary Clinton to Tonya Harding trying to have someone "knee cap" her opponent -- in this case, Barack Obama -- in order to win at all costs. Judging from hers and Bill's political tactics so far, I'd have to say that seems like a fairly apt comparison.

Personally, I think that Hillary is Machiavellian enough to want to sabotage Obama in this election cycle and have her good friend, the irritable, elderly and rapidly senile, John McCain, elected. That way, she can come back in 2012 and run for President again. Call me cynical, but that's the only way I see this "fight to the bitter end" with Obama playing out. Hillary knows she won't win, she can't win no matter how hard she tries, but she still wants to cripple Obama. That may be sick and psychopathic, but then, so was Tonya Harding. posted 03/28/2008 at 11:38:07

Now, they're after Nancy Pelosi because, in her personal opinion, the superdelegates shouldn't overturn the will or the votes of the properly seated and elected delegates. That's her opinion. She didn't say they had to, only that they should respect the votes of the duly elected delegates. And now Hillary's "fat cat" donors are trying to muzzle Nancy Pelosi and are threatening to cut off their donations to the DCCC. I say good riddance to bad rubbish. The Democratic Party should not be held hostage or bribed by Hillary's "fat cats." They represent themselves and Hillary's and their own interests and not the "true" America's.

Clinton Owes Obama An Apology

Did any of you racist critics of Reverend Wright ever take the time to view his full sermons? In context? He may be a critic of an imperialist and racist America, but he speaks the truth, eloquently, even if at times, bluntly. He reminds me a bit of a latter-day Thomas Paine, the voice of the common man during the Revolutionary War. What he says may rub you the wrong way, but he talks righteously and from his heart. Any one who doesn't see the truth of what he is saying, even if they disagree with the way he says it, is, in my mind, an ignorant, if unconscious, bigot. Don't trust the Fox sound bites. Listen to the whole sermon.

(Oh, by the way, I'm not a member of his congregation. And I'm also white.) posted 03/27/2008 at 08:12:36
Hillary Clinton not only owes Barack Obama an apology. She owes the American people an apology.

Remember, in 2002, Hillary Clinton voted for George W. Bush's Resolution for War against Iraq without ever reading the National Intelliegence Estimate. Even the conservative Democrat from Florida, Bill Nelson, voted against the War Resolution because he read the N.I.E. and knew that there was no real proof that Saddam had WMD's.

So, Hillary and her friend, Joe Lieberman, and Dick Cheney and George W. Bush backed a war that had no reason, other than oil and power and getting rid of their former CIA "friend" and ally (Remember, we supported Saddam in his War against Iran --even gave him the gas he used on his own Kurdish people). And now more than 4000 American soldiers and a million innocent Iraqi citizens have died because these rich and powerful Americans decided to preemptively invade Iraq to get rid of a man that the Americans themselves helped put into power. Hillary cannot claim ignorance as an excuse because she knew at that time that she was giving the authority to declare war on Iraq to an imbecile, George W. Bush. And he took advantage of her supposedly smart self.

This war is going to cost the American people more than 3 trillion dollars! Think what that wasted money could have gone to -- national health care, education, Social Security, rebuilding the natiopnal infrastructure of bridges and highways. posted 03/27/2008 at 06:27:36

Clinton Donors Object to Pelosi Comment

For Hillary Clinton to ask the Democratic delegates to cease and desist (and support her, basically, because she is Bill's spouse) is basically moronic and misogynist. In 2002, she supported George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Joe Lieberman. How can she reconcile her "pro-war" votes for War Against Iraq with the the Three Trillion Dollars that this War will cost America?

She can't. Therefore, she must resort to lies.

Hillary Clinton is a liar and a war-monger. Do we really want someone like her to be President? (Granted, she is better than McCain, but that 's only because he is senile.)

At least, Hillary is sane. You know that McCain is a pre-Alzheimer's patient.
He's had too many "senior" moments to be trusted. Even if Joe Lieberman sleeps with him at 3 a.m., anyone with any sense knows that John McCain is an old, senile, major-league whacko. (Just look at the footage from Amman, Jordan with Lieberman whispering in his ear that it's "not al-Queda but Iranian "extremists". These bozos can't even get their stories straight.

Of course, I would vote for her against the neanderthal John McCain (if only for the Supreme Court). But Barack Obama (for the second time on my lifetimetime -- after JFK) represents a chance for a new beginning for America. We have to take it -- not only for ourselves, but for our children and our grandchilren.

I'm a white person who is for Obama. I don't think you are a racist because you back Hillary Clintin. I do think you are stupid, however, because you support a person who voted for the War on Iraq without reading the National Intelligence Report. As I'm sure you know (and Hillary should), Saddam Hussein had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11or al-Queda. He also had no WMD's (which the UN inspectors could've verified) and he never, ever posed an imminent threat to the United States. For us to go to war on such dubious evidence is a crime, a crime committed by George W, Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, and other international idiots.
